Amos Granger shook his head helplessly. If Eudora George was a man, she might be more of a workaholic than he was.
After that, Amos took a book out casually to read. He suddenly felt that he was really relaxed like an old man.
When his phone rang, he opened the door and went out.
It was Clint Zuckerberg. "President Granger, the Second Master really used the funds that we collected. He used the funds to buy some piece of land. After investigating, I found out that the owner of the land was he himself, even though the official legal owner was registered as his wife's brother." said Clint anxiously.
Harry Granger finally couldn't hold back his greed anymore. Amos smiled faintly. "How about the Cooper family?"
"Jeremy Cooper worked well with Thomas Shelby last time. He was expected to win the deal, but he didn't expect that there would be a competitor. He must be very upset after losing to the Second Master." "I would be worried if he wasn't upset!" Amos laughed.
Clint was confused by what Amos said," What do you mean?" "Nothing. When will they make the deal?" Amos suddenly asked.
"Most likely to be on the day after tomorrow. The venue is the Church of Repayment." replied Clint.
Amos nodded and said, "It's a great venue."
After hanging up the phone, Amos looked at his wristwatch. It was already almost forty minutes, but the little woman still had no intention to stop working.
He carried her up from her seat as he frowned.
Eudora was shocked. "Amos, you..."
"It's time for you to rest!" After saying that, he walked towards the bed.
Eudora did not want to rest, because she had been resting in bed for half a month. Her back ached as soon as she saw the bed.
"I don't want to rest. How about I go downstairs to play with Cola? It's been a while since he last saw me."
Amos shook his head. "No."
"Why?" Eudora uttered a wail.
"If you don't have a good rest today, how can we go out tomorrow?" Amos said.
"Hmm?" Eudora was stunned. "Are we going out tomorrow?"
"Yeah, aren't you bored?"
"But I..." She rather stayed at home to check the drafts of the design blueprints.
"Have you heard of the Church of Repayment? I heard that the Statue of Jesus there was very ancient. I know you always like to see this kind of art. Don't you want to go and have a look?" As expected, Eudora suddenly became excited when she heard this.
"Yes! I want to go.."
"Then have a good rest! We'll depart tomorrow morning."
After that, he put the blanket on Eudora and lay down beside her. He had been sleeping on the small bed at the hospital, so he did not really sleep well recently.
They soon fell asleep.
The next day, Eudora George was carried by someone when she was still sleeping. Then, she found herself already in the car after she woke up. The car drove forward slowly as she was lying on Amos' thighs Amos was reading a book, and there was a soft sound of paper flipping from time to time.
Eudora closed her eyes and lay down for a little longer to enjoy the coziness. Then, she got up.
The Church of Repayment was not very far away from their house. However, because of the rugged mountain roads, they still took a few hours to reach there.
Just like Amos had mentioned, the Statue of Jesus was indeed an impressive European Sculpture. It gave off a strong sense of historical solemnity since it had been there for a long time.
Eudora was energetic after seeing the statue. She took out her phone and started taking photos.
When she finished taking photos, their rooms were already ready.
Eudora sat down and looked at the photos she had taken after unpacking her luggage.
While she was looking at the photos, Amos hugged her from behind.
"Another half an hour has passed. 'Amos reminded her.
"Ah? What?"Eudora protested. "But I'm not tired!"
"That does not change the rule that we set!" Amos directly carried her. The two of them then sat on a wooden couch by the window. There was a bamboo forest in the backyard. It was incredibly pleasant as the breeze blew on their face.
Eudora looked at the scenery for a while and suddenly came up with an idea. She brought her laptop over and started to design immediately as she looked at the bamboo forest.
Since Amos had said that they would be together forever.
Then she had to work harder and strive to reach the same level as him. She would prove herself to the Granger family with her own ability. She wanted them to know that she was the most suitable person for Amos even if she didn't come from a powerful and influential family.
She was busy and did not pay attention to the time. When she was done with her design, it was already late.
A nun was knocking on the door. "Sister, it's dinner time."
"Has it been that long already?" Eudora was surprised.
Amos had no choice but to say, "You really are a workaholic!"
Everyone in the church had dinner together. The food tasted not bad, and Eudora enjoyed it.
While they were eating, two people came into the dining place. Amos stood up and said, "Second Uncle!"
Harry Granger seemed to be surprised by the voice. When he saw Amos, he was also stunned for a while. "Why are you here?"
"What else can I do here? Of course, I'm here to worship God." replied Amos.
Amos seemed to be hinting Harry with his words. Harry laughed, "Yes. I'm also here to worship God with my wife."
Kaylene Yoder nodded and invited him, "Why don't we sit together?"
Eudora knew Amos well. She thought that he would reject the invitation. However, Amos nodded and said, "Sure!"
Kaylene seemed to be surprised as well. After pausing for half a second, she took a seat.
The atmosphere started to become a little awkward. After an awkward silence, Kaylene took the initiative to start a conversation by asking, "Miss George, are you feeling better?"
"Oh, yeah. I feel much better." Eudora didn't know what their intentions were, so she answered vaguely.
Just as the dishes were served, the four of them started to eat quietly.
After the meal, Harry asked them, "What's your plan tomorrow? I remember that there is a mountain in the east which seems to be quite interesting. How about I ask your Second Aunt to bring you there tomorrow?"
Amos smiled faintly when he heard that.
"It seems God really changes you after your prayers. Second Uncle, your temper has become much better."
Harry's face froze, and then he said with a smile, "Am I not always good-tempered?"
Just then, Amos's cell phone rang. He got up and walked away. When he left, Kaylene asked Eudora again, "Tomorrow I will take you to the hill in the east..."
"Sorry, I still haven't fully recovered yet. The doctor said it's best for me to have enough rest. So, I'm afraid I can't go!"
Eudora was not stupid. She noticed that Amos deliberately ignored their invitation just now, which meant that he didn't want to go at all. Besides, Harry's family were not as kind as they seemed to be, so she did not want to get involved with them.
However, they were still the elders, so it was inappropriate to reject them directly. Therefore, Eudora used her injury as an excuse to decline the invitation. As expected, Harry and Kaylene didn't say anything further, then they got up and left.
