Chapter 30
Tony took a long time to respond.
At the same time, Anika had already exited the kitchen, carrying a batch of freshly cooked crabs.
Zac walked into the dining room and took a seat.
Anika approached him and presented him with the freshly cooked crabs.
Zac smiled as he grabbed the fried crabs.
The caretaker, Boris, was well aware of Anika’s fondness for crabs, so he purposefully left the best and the biggest box for her to
take.
She peeled the crab flesh and roe from the two crabs and placed it on the plate beside her, creating a little mound.
Zac remained still.
He simply took a quick glance at her.
After a brief pause, he abruptly stated, "When you were younger, what type of martial arts did you learn? Did you learn it
because of Demi?"
On a journey to find a lady fifteen years ago, Anika's father and his wife were cruelly crushed by a landslide.
Her father, Elliot Meyer, had no other children.
Only Oliver, Anika's uncle and Elliot's son-in-law, was left.
Oliver had always been nice to Elliot for more than ten years.
Even if Elliot didn't like him at first, it was still hard for Elliot to avoid repaying Oliver for what he had done to him.
Even if Oliver were to do something that would harm Anika, Zac knew that Anika had planned ahead.
Her grandfather, on the other hand, has yet to make a move.
Because of this, she was still pretty relaxed.
Shawn was fired as soon as he returned, according to Anika.
Even if Oliver didn’t want to go head-to-head with Shawn, he could tell how much Anika despised him.
So Oliver was also pretty relaxed due to the situation.
Thinking of Tony's words, Zac's deep eyes were filled with more curiosity.
"Indeed."
Anika looked up at him and smiled, "What other reason would I be willing to learn martial arts apart from Demi's influence?"
She didn't want to talk too much about the Cooper Family to Zac.
Back then, when he saw her in the clubhouse, he lazily asked her why she was learning how to fight.
Anika mentioned Demi briefly but all she said was gibberish.
Zac didn't get the information that he wanted.
However, this was only one of the reasons for her willingness to learn fighting.
The other reason was related to Shawn.
Shawn often went to the Meyer residence in high school.
And the Cooper family even wanted to make Shawn like Anika.
Shawn was later persuaded to go to her room and hide something.
Unknown to him, he was tricked by Anika.
Shawn was terrified by Anika's sleepwalking.
That was simply because she held her sword in her hand whenever she sleepwalked.
Of course, Shawn could run faster, and Anika wouldn't be able hurt him at all.
However, Shawn was so frightened that she could only slash him meaningfully.
Ever since then, Shawn had avoided her and never dared to bother her again.
She understood that Shawn was too timid.
And the difference in strength between them was great.
It truly wasn't a bad thing for a girl to learn self-defense.
Anika pulled her thoughts away, and saw that the crab in front of Zac remained motionless.
"You're not eating?"
Zac's gaze paused on the crab.
He pursed his lips and said, "I don't eat much of seafood.”
Anika looked at him and saw that he was too lazy to bother answering more.
She thought that he didn't want to peel the crabs because they needed a lot of effort.
So he sighed and handed over the plate of meat to her, "Here."
For her, it wasn't a bother.
She could skim through a crab quickly because she was familiar with it.
She got used to his attitude, so there was no need to argue with him.
Zac's gaze lingered on the plate of crab meat for a moment.
Then, he slowly took a piece and picked his phone up to take a picture.
"Why are you taking pictures?"
Anika looked at him suspiciously.
"Tony said that if you have nothing else to do, you can send photos to your circle of friends."
He raised his eyebrows and said in a loose voice, "I'll eat this one so I won't be labeled as rude."
With that said, Zac had already opened his Viber, added the photos, and clicked send.
Tony prepared a few popular scientific subjects for Zac while searching for crematorium literary topics on his laptop.
Moments later, he opened his Viber and saw the photos from Zac with no accompanying text.
He was stunned speechless for a few moments before realizing what was going on.
He grinned and complimented the other party.
He realized that the plate of crabs in the photographs had been particularly prepared for his good friend, Zac, by Anika! Tony felt
conflicting emotions as he stared at the screen.
‘How could I doubt Sister-in-Law's affection for Zac?’
After eating the crabs, Zac went to the kitchen and washed the dishes.
Zac thought that it was good to personally wash the dishes.
He had bad memory with technology.
Despite the fact that he had a dishwasher at home, he insisted on doing the dishes personally.
It was only because, after using the dishwasher, he discovered some dirt on the bowl that hadn't been cleaned away.
Although the stains were only the size of a sesame seed,Zac's opinion towards a dishwasher was so bad that he remained
stubborn when using one.
It was difficult for Anika to persuade him to use a dishwasher.
So she felt helpless and just let him do whatever he wanted.
But anyway, it was him who worked.
It wasn't her that did the hard work, so Anika put away her other thoughts.
She leaned against the sofa and told Sara about her enrollment.
Suddenly, she received a Viber message from Kayleigh, Kayden's sister.
Kayleigh: “Nika, my brother is in a bad condition.Do you want to ..come and see him? “
Kayleigh: This is a one-time request.Don't even consider me! This is simply because he has been my biological brother for the
past eighteen years.
I owe him for being there for me.
I only want him to be happy for a bit.
Please? Anika frowned slightly, her eyes filled with contemplation.
It wasn't because of Kayden, but because of Kayleigh.
Since she returned to the Meyer family, Kayleigh had clung to her.
She was also closer to her than her brother, Kayden.
Anika remembered their family's twists and turns, and how she kept Kayleigh safe at all times.
Anika could understand Kayleigh's thoughts.
Kayden, had not only taken care of her but also Lucy since childhood.
Kayden took care of them but his bond with Lucy was only as a younger sister and nothing more.
She sighed and typed her reply.
Anika: Leigh, your brother and I are over, and I'm married to another person now.
I have already paid off the debt of gratitude I owe him.
In the future, whatever happens to him, whether it's life or death, it has nothing to do with me.
After sending this message, Anika placed her phone beside her.
Kayleigh thought that she would never mention her brother to Anika again in the future in order to avoid being disliked by Anika.
Without Kayden, perhaps Anika wouldn't have been able to get into A University and attain the success she has currently.
Kayden had helped her when she needed it, and she had returned the kindness when he was alone.
If it was easy to get together and disperse, she wouldn't be in an even more embarrassing situation with Kayden.
However, Anika had already treated him worse than strangers when Kayden promised her safety.
The weekend was over, and it was a workday again.
Early in the morning, Anika finished her bath and walked out of the door, but she couldn't find Zac in the living room.
After she frowned, she walked back to the second floor and knocked on the door of the next room.
"Zac?"
During this time of the week, Zac was very self-disciplined.
He never got up late on weekdays.
Normally, when she went downstairs, it was almost time for him to read the newspaper in the living room.
After knocking on the door for a long time, the door was opened.
The man's upright figure appeared in front of her.
Although he wore a stiff and broad suit, there was a problem ...
Anika opened her mouth and said with a frown, "What are you wearing on a hot day?"
Zac put up a turtleneck sweater under his coat.
'It isn't too thick, but it's somewhat out of season! Seeing the speculation in Anika's eyes, the man’s expression became
unnatural.
He took a deep look at her and then smiled, "Anika, are you dissatisfied with me?"
As she heard this, Anika choked slightly.
He thought to himself, ‘Did she ...notice it?’
"Why do you say that?"
She caught Zac's stare, while the other knitted his brows slightly and caressed his neck a few times with his palm.
Anika looked over carefully and discovered that the man was hiding something under the thin shirt, revealing a faint red mark on
his neck.
"Are you allergic?"
She furrowed her brows and looked at him.
She remembered that he was fine before eating the crab last night.
She couldn't help but reproach him softly, "Since you can't eat seafood, why didn't you say so earlier?"
Zac was also lucky.
Allergies only left red marks on his body, which did not affect his handsome face.
Zac raised his eyebrows to look at her and leisurely retorted, "I haven't eaten much before."
He was used to dislike the fishy smell of seafood.
If she hadn't peeled it herself, he wouldn't have eaten it.
Anika looked at him and let out a long sigh of relief, "Then let's go to the hospital."
Then, she took out her phone and booked an appointment.
She remembered that there was a good private hospital near the company.
Although the cost was high, she could still afford the price that the hospital offers.
After making an appointment, she placed her phone to her pocket.
Only then did Anika discover that the man was looking at her with a scrutinizing gaze, his pitch-black eyes unable to discern his
emotions.
"What are you looking at me for?"
Then, she glanced at his eyebrows and said, "You're already an adult, are you still afraid of going to the hospital?"
Zac silently withdrew his gaze.
Of course, he couldn't be afraid of going to the hospital.
It was just that Tony had inexplicably told him about the crematorium routine last night.
