Mr George, Don't Be So Arrogant

Chapter 28 The Newcomer Is Drop Dead Gorgeous

"Dr. Watson! A patient in the emergency room needs your help!"

When the man was about to say something, a nurse hurriedly ran over and interrupted him with a nervous shout. Riley nodded to him in a hurry and ran to the emergency room.

At the long corridor, the thin and tall figure was standing still. Looking at the woman who disappeared at the corner, his lips curled into a warm and pleasant smile.

Riley used her stethoscope to learn the patient's condition. Her brows were tightly furrowed throughout the process.

Her slender fingers pressed the patient's abdomen and she sensed the patient's vital signs bit by bit, "Heart valve damage, the patient needs surgery immediately! Contact the surgeon!" "Alright! Dr. Hamilton! This is..."

The patient was pushed into the operating room by the surgeon. Riley panted and slowly sat on the chair. She powerlessly put her hands beside her body and quietly zoned out.

If it was not due to the matter in the past, she could have become a surgeon and could have held a scalpel to save a patient from the brink of death.

Her eyes were tiredly closed. Pictures of her memory flashed in her mind wildly and apparently wanted to engulf all her thoughts and brain nerves like a flood and a beast.

Her hand was tightly clenched into fists. Her slender fingers seemingly wanted to embed her skin layer as the skin of her palm was pinched until that deep grooves were formed.

Due to excessive emotional agitation, perspiration started to form on her fair face. Riley felt that her heart was about to suffocate.

Trying hard to pull herself back from the whirlpool of her memory, Riley relaxed her palm and looked at the bruised marks on it due to her pinch.

A tingle of sorrow swept over her.

Fate?

Perhaps this was how fate was? It liked to pull one's lag.

Riley went back to the office. Serena and Margot had just returned from the ward and there were smiles on their faces which showed that they were very excited. They were chatting about something. After Riley sat down, Serena said with a gossipy smile, "Dr. Watson, your brain becomes puzzled after being busy for half a day, right? I'm infuriated by the patient until that my mind becomes puzzled so I have found myself a refreshing gossip to amuse myself."

As Serena said, she held her phone in front of Riley, "How is it? Clear, right? Eye-catching, right? The paparazzi nowadays are really powerful as they can surprisingly hide outside others' houses to take pictures. But frankly speaking, the George's mansion is indeed luxurious! This is indeed the power of rich people as this house is indeed a castle! A royal castle!"

Riley inadvertently narrowed her eyes. On the screen, it was the George's mansion. A house with such a luxurious outer appearance, top-notch design and ideal location could only be found there in the entire JD City.

And the next photo was showing that Euan and Lydia were talking happily and walking out of the villa arm in arm. Lydia who was in a long dress looked beautiful and elegant and even the usual heavy makeup had been changed to light makeup. Her obedient and lovely appearance was meant to target the status of being a daughter-in-law.

Of course, these did not really stimulate Riley. The one that made her felt that her heart was being pierced through was the third photo.

On the screen, Euan personally opened the car door. The black Bentley was parked at the entrance of the villa to wait for the two female owners.

Riley looked at the picture of the family which had a warm and close relationship in a dumbfounded state. A beautiful pregnant woman, an elegant mother-in-law, and a handsome male owner...

'Lydia and Mrs. George have a close relationship. She is welcomed by the George family.'

This needle-like text and picture completely broke the last line of defence in Riley's heart.

Euan had made up her mind to marry Lydia, right?

"Dr. Watson? What's wrong with you, Dr. Watson?"

Seeing that Riley suddenly lost her mind, Serena hurriedly reached out and shook her hand in front of Riley's eyes.

Riley regained her presence of mind and gave Serena the phone. She stood up shakily by holding the chair, "I'm going to the washroom."

Margot and Serena looked at each other, "Is she too tired today? She has been called to go to the surgical ward early in the morning and has also dealt with the urgent case."

Serena nodded, "Dr. Watson is our ace doctor, but an ace doctor also needs to rest and to be taken care of. I really hope that Dr. Watson can find a man who loves her."

All these words were heard by Riley who was standing outside the office and had no strength to move her feet. Her two legs were stretched and she was leaning against the wall. Riley continuously took deep breaths several times before she felt better.

The time during the afternoon was relatively relaxed. Riley returned from the ward. Teddy handed her a cup of coffee, "You're tired, right? Have some coffee to rejuvenate yourself."

Riley nodded and thanked him but she put the coffee on the table without drinking it.

"Oh, Dr. Pearson, we're also women but why don't Dr. Lawson and I have this kind of treatment? We're also tired. We also need coffee to rejuvenate ourselves!"

Teddy frowned, "You two? You two surprisingly still have the confidence to say you guys are women? When you guys went to see the new deputy director just now, you guys almost broke your necks, right? Have you guys seen the real person?"

The new deputy director? So, he had already arrived here?

Serena twitched her lips, "It's okay if you don't give us but you surprisingly even also satirize us! Dr. Pearson, be careful, if we're able to find a boyfriend for Dr. Watson, you will definitely cry!" Teddy looked askance at Riley and used the action of drinking coffee to hide the embarrassment on his face.

Riley's lips silently curled. So, Teddy was actually having a special thought to her? If the people in the office knew that she had been married for three years and her husband was Euan whom they thought was a wealthy man, how would the situation be like?

"Dr. Rose, you drink the coffee, my stomach is not feeling well recently, so I don't drink coffee." Riley put the coffee on Serena's table and continued to look back at the computer screen. Teddy hurriedly said, "Your stomach is uncomfortable? Do you need me to prescribe some medicine for you?”

Margot interrupted him, "Dr. Pearson, I think you don't have to worry about her? With such a good capability, this is just a small case for Dr. Watson! But Dr. Watson, your stomach is not feeling good but your eyes are okay, right? Let me tell you a secret, the new deputy director is said to look really handsome! Ahem, but I've not seen him yet."

It seemed like the deputy director would have to become the core topic of the people in the hospital for quite a while.

Serena already started to drink coffee and while drinking, she did not forget to tease Teddy, "Dr. Pearson is really good at buying coffee, it's my favourite, cappuccino. It will be even more perfect if you ask the seller to add some sugar next time!"

Teddy said in displeasure, "You're so fat but still want to eat sugar? Be careful that nobody wants to marry you."

"Oh, Dr. Pearson doesn't need to worry about this matter. You have to keep an eye on Dr. Watson. If she really marries someone else, you'll...haha."

"Don't interrupt first. The afternoon meeting will introduce a new leader, can you guys put more attention? What deputy director, you guys know? The range of the position switching in the hospital is very large now, it's possible that today he's a deputy director but he becomes a director next year! This matter is directly related to our future, guys!"

As if facing an enemy, Margot warned. Serena bit the paper cup and used her elbow to gently push Riley's arm, "Dr. Watson, if this deputy director is promoted to director, maybe you'll be the deputy director! Are you excited?"

Riley wrote the prescription while lowering her head, "If you're so free, I think it's better that you go and think about how to handle patient number 30?"

"Ouch! That annoying patient..."

The afternoon conversations in the office ended officially after Serena's moan.

There was a meeting at 3.00 p.m. The group of people went to the conference room. All the doctors were chattering about the new leader's extraordinarily handsomeness and genius qualification, except Riley who did not say a single word as her mind was all on the news of Euan and Lydia.

When Riley was about to reach the conference room, her phone suddenly rang.

"Dr. Watson, go to the operating room 1 immediately, the chief surgeon needs assistance."

Hearing the voice on the phone, Serena could not help but frown, "How come you also need to help in surgery? You're obviously an internist, you also can't help much on the operating table, right?"

Riley had no time to explain and just spoke, "I can't attend the meeting anymore, convey this matter for me." Finished speaking, she strode and left.

An unknown person spoke in a low voice, "I hear that Dr. Watson was once a surgeon who used scalpel but then she became an internist after that with an unknown reason."

Serena and others were shocked, "What! She surprisingly has a story?"

Riley changed into the blue surgical uniform and walked into the operating room. The chief surgeon was doing the heart valve surgery. The assistant suddenly fainted just now so Riley was asked hurriedly to come and assist him.

But Riley was wondering why was she chosen? There were so many people in the surgical department.

Although the chief surgeon's face could not be seen, his finger skills were very skilled. It was so skilled that Riley felt that this was a middle-aged doctor who had undergone a hundred surgeries. The depth of the wound, the stitching, and the speed, were almost perfect!

The operation lasted for six hours. Riley helped the chief surgeon to wipe his sweat more than a hundred times but she admired him from the bottom of her heart.

The operation ended successfully. The patient was pushed out of the operating room. Riley was cleaning the surgical instrument and the familiar and clear male voice once again sounded.

"Dr. Watson."

The chief surgeon took off his mask. His face was full of sweat and he was smiling in an extremely gentle way.

It was surprisingly him? The man she met outside the ICU was him.

"Dr. Watson, thanks, you've done a great job."

His voice was clear, gentle, very nice to be heard, and could also make others felt comfortable.

"I didn't expect that you're so young. When I looked at your skill just now, I thought you were already a middle-aged doctor." Riley revealed her thought honestly and could not help but size up the man again. She had to admit that he was really an outstanding doctor.

The man smiled abruptly, "It isn't only age that can make a person mature, but also the number of times a person carries out a surgery." When he spoke, there was always a smile on his face although the words uttered sounded bloody and disgusting if someone thought carefully about it.

"Let's formally know each other, I'm William Hardesty. This is my first day to work here, nice to meet you."

Riley carefully thought about this name, William Hardesty? It sounded so familiar that she had apparently heard it somewhere.

"Hello, Dr. Hardesty. I'm Riley Watson." She reached out her little hand and shook hand with him.

"You must be wondering why I ask you to come and help, right?" After walking out of the operating room, William asked her while smiling.

"Of course, also, how did you know my name?" From the first time they met each other, he had called her name accurately. This doubt suddenly came to her mind.

Why did a man she did not know seem to know her so well?

William shrugged his shoulder, "You wanna know?"

Riley twitched her lips. Although his skill was decent and he looked handsome, his technique of flirting was really terrible.

"Sorry, I don't want to know."☐☐☐☐☐
