Moonville Series 1: Secret Lovers

Chapter 34

Kim performed after Bryan's song number. Richard was by her side when she went out on the stage. They were holding hands as they took their position for their dance routine. Their costumes resemble the outfit of Rose and Jack during the sinking of the Titanic. Richard is wearing a white polo tucked in black pants with suspenders. Kim is wearing a white dress.

Angel looked at Alex beside her. Her sister is obviously excited, though she's trying to hide it because no one should know that she and Richard are acquainted. Angel can't help but feel pity for her.

The two started dancing. Kim is the one who moves most of the time since she really is the contestant. Richard is only supporting her. The dance looks so good, and they really captured the vibe of the movie Titanic in their dance. Angel looked at her mother, and she wondered if she's enjoying what she's seeing right now.

"What?"

Angel looked at Alex who is seriously watching Richard and Kim. It looks as if she's actually mad at the two. Angel watched the dancers once again and realized why Alex is acting as such.

Richard and Kim really looked like Jack and Rose. Not only the physical aspect, but the emotions as well. They looked so in love with each other, making Alex react that way.

Angel looked at her sister once again, and this time, she can clearly see the jealousy in her face. She was so jealous she suddenly stood up and left.

"Alex!"

Angel followed her sister. Alex went to the restroom of the auditorium to vent out what she's feeling.

"Alex, it was just a dance." Angel tried to console her.

Alex looks so hurt as she faced Angel. "I can't even dance with him!" She looks like she's about to cry.

"Alex..." Angel tried to calm her sister. "Just hold on. We're trying to fix everything. Bryan is doing everything he can to help. So please try to not feel so bad."

Alex embraced her. "I'm sorry, Ate. I'm sorry for being so childish."

Angel rubbed his back to console her. "I understand. You love him that's why you're jealous."

Alex let go to face her again. "They're so good. Their dance is very believable."

"If you want, we can just stay here. Let's wait for the dance to finish before going back."

"He might ask me why I didn't watch his dance."

"Tell him your stomach suddenly ached."

Alex giggled at what she said. "Ate! That is so disgusting!"

Angel smiled. 'That's your fault. You're too jealous."

Alex contemplated for a while. Then, after some time, she let out a sigh. "Let's go, Ate."

"Are you sure?"

Alex nodded. 'Yes."

Angel grabbed her hand, and together they went back to their seats. Richard and Kim's dance is more than halfway, and it was on that part where the Titanic is about to sink.

"In all fairness, Richard is really very good," Angel commented. "That's right."

'And even though he's good, he's not overshadowing Kim." 'Because he's good."

Angel looked at her sister. 'I know you love him very much."

Alex grinned at what Angel said.

Angel continued watching the dance. Somehow, she managed to help her sister calm down. Kim and Richard really looked like they were in love with each other. They were too believable. That's why she can't blame Alex for feeling jealous. She let out a sigh. Until when can they take this? Hiding their true feelings and using lies as defense? She hoped that somehow, Bryan's plan worked. At least, they are already on first base. They just need to wait for the right time to hit second base, and the succeeding ones until these all end and they finally resolved the problem.

After the talent portion, another intermission number was presented. It was a dance number from a group of students from the Business School. And after that, the Evening Wear competition started. The first to present are the male contestants, who tried to overshadow the other contestants as they model their respective coat and tie suit. Then the female contestants took their turns with their various long gowns.

The Question-and-Answer portion followed. The first to go through it are the male contestants. They need to pick the name of a judge from a fishbowl, and that judge will be the one to provide the question to the contestant.

Bryan was the last one to go through it since he's the last one to be included in the top 5.

"Hi Bryan!" greeted the male host.

"Hello, good evening," Bryan greeted back.

"So Bryan, a lot of girls swooned over your song number earlier," said the female host, which made the audience squeal, mostly the female students. Bryan just smiled.

"Are you one of those who screamed?" asked the male host to the female host.

The female host pretended to be giddy. "Hmn... Well..." She giggled.

Everyone laughed at how the female host acted.

'Actually, what really got me was when he said, 'This song is for my angel"," said the female host. And again, the female students squealed.

Meanwhile, Alex looked at Angel who is sitting beside her. 'Ate..." she teased.

Angel glared at her sister, and Alex just grinned at her.

'Bryan, if you don't mind us asking. Is this 'angel' you mentioned someone I know?" asked the male host.

Bryan looked at the host, who is none other than BJ, the Vice Governor of their student council, and a member of The Echo. 'Yes." And the ladies squealed again.

'Is she here right now?" asked the female host.

'Yes."

It seems like every answer that Bryan gives makes the female students giddier. They seem to not get tired of squealing their lungs out.

'I'm pretty sure she's beautiful," said the male host.

Bryan looked at Angel. "Yes."

'Why are they showing Gina on the screen?" Alex asked Angel.

'Because everyone thinks that Gina is Bryan's girlfriend."

'She's not an angel... More likely, a witch."

Angel did not comment on what her sister said.

'Ms. Gina Aguilar is so beautiful tonight, right, partner?" the female host asked.

'I think I better not answer that question," BJ said. 'Someone might wait for me outside to beat me," he joked, making his co-host laugh.

'I agree," the female host said. 'Oh well... Bryan, please pick out from the fishbowl the name of the judge who will ask your question." Bryan did as told. After pulling out a paper, he handed it to the female host.

'And the one who will ask your question is Mr. Benjie Martinez."

'Oh no!" Alex blurted.

Angel suddenly felt very worried. She saw how Bryan's smile slowly faded when he heard her father's name.

Benjie was very formal when he asked the question. "If you were to change something that happened in your past, what would it be and why?"

It took Bryan a few seconds before answering. What puzzled Angel was the twinkle she saw in Bryan's eyes as he smiled slightly.

"I think, I would change that something that happened twenty years ago. It actually didn't happen to me, but it affected me in such an unfavorable way."

"If it didn't happen to you, then to whom and how did it affect you?" asked the female host.

'My father and his friend." And then Bryan looked intently at Benjie. "They had a misunderstanding, and until now they haven't reconciled yet. And it affects me because I could not show that friend how good of a person I am and that he can trust me."

"Is this still part of Bryan's strategy?" Alex asked Angel beside her.

"I don't think so. I'm sure he doesn't know what will be asked of him tonight. He didn't even know who would ask him."

Angel looked at her father. She cannot see his reaction because his back is turned on them. She just wished that he didn't get more mad at Bryan's affront.
