Moonville Series 1: Secret Lovers

Bryan was surprised to see Angel when he went out of the men's restroom. She looks like she's really waiting for him. "We need to talk."

He wasn't able to decline when Angel grabbed his hand and led her to wherever she will take him. He just looked at his hand that is tightly gripped by Angel. He really could never escape that strong hold of hers.

She brought him to the student lounge of Business School. Angel looked around like she is examining the location, and she seems to forget that she is still holding Bryan's hand.

"You know, I always forget washing my hands after I pee."

Angel immediately looked at him. She looked at his hand and she instantly let it go. She furtively wiped her hand on her skirt, and Bryan enjoyed seeing her reaction. He likes seeing her like this, like she was unprepared, just like that time when they bumped to each other and she almost fell had he wasn't able to catch her. He likes seeing her become undone.

'Just like how you make me feel sometimes.'

He brushed off the thought, and once more mocked her, to bring back the Angel he knows and to stop whatever his mind was thinking. Just kidding."

Angel looked at him sharply. 'If only I don't need to talk to you."

'Yeah. Why did you bring me here?" asked Bryan. He suddenly wondered why she dragged him there.

"I have something to ask you, and please make sure that you answer me truthfully."

"Okay." He felt he needs to reciprocate her seriousness.

"Do you know anything about Alex and Richard?"

"What?" He was literally shocked at her question.

'Somebody told me that they have a romantic relationship. You're close to Richard, right? He's your cousin." Angel looks very desperate right now. It seems like she believes whoever told her that information. 'Who told you that?"

Angel looked away. "Gina Aguilar."

'Gina?" Bryan is surprised. 'Isn't it that you're not in good terms with her?" When did Gina tell her this?

"Yes, but... I can feel like she's telling the truth."

'You just confirmed that you're not in good terms. How can you be sure that she's telling you the truth?" He can't believe that Angel made herself believe what Gina told her.

Yes, Gina is his friend, but that doesn't mean that he's siding with her when it comes to her issues with Angel. He doesn't know how their grudge started so he cannot take sides among the two.

'These past days, Alex seems different. She's always on her phone, texting or chatting with someone. She can't even stop to talk to me," Angel explained.

So that was it. Angel has a basis on her assumption. But is that enough reason for her to believe the person whose main purpose is to irritate her?

'Did Richard mention something to you?" Angel asked.

'No. We don't go home together anymore because he already has his own car. We bought it from The Garage, that's why he knows Gina. But, does Gina know Alex?" 'Gina transferred to CPRU during high school, so she definitely knows Alex."

'But if what Gina said is true, where did she see Alex and Richard?"

'I don't know. She didn't say where she got that information."

Bryan felt bad for Angel because of her uneasiness. She looks really bothered by that news. And so, he wasn't able to stop himself from turning to his superhero mode. 'Okay, I'll talk to Gina," Bryan said.

Angel looked relieved. 'Thank you."

Bryan nodded. 'I'll talk to her tonight, and tomorrow on our first subject, I will tell you what I found out."

'Thank you, Bryan."

'It's okay. Don't fret in the meantime because we still don't know the truth."

Angel nodded. Her eyes are still sad because of worry. Bryan felt the urge to touch her face to somehow relive the sadness in her eyes.

'What?' Why did he suddenly think of that? Why is it that when he's faced with Angel, his mind suddenly think of weird things?

'Let's go to our next class," Angel said.

And Bryan was grateful she spoke. At least those weird thoughts he's having stopped. He followed her as she went straight to their next class.

Angel does not know what to feel. She's excited and worried and something else she doesn't know. She is constantly glancing at the door as she waits for Bryan and his report on what he learned from Gina last night.

A few moments later, Bryan arrived. He went straight to her and sat down beside her.

'Hi..." He wasn't smiling and his tone is not cheerful.

And Angel greeted him with the same demeanor. 'Hi..."

'It seems like... Gina was telling you the truth."

Angel felt like the world crashed on her.

'She said she saw them at The Coffee Club. They were very sweet as they went inside Richard's car."

That's what Angel was afraid of. "I told her to get away from Richard Quinto."

'But we're not yet sure."

'Gina already told you she saw them herself. What proof do we still need?"

'You are right, but a person's vision is subjective. Gina might think Richard is being sweet, when in fact he's just being a gentleman."

'Still, the point is Alex should not be befriending a Quinto."

"Well, I get your point."

"I need to see it for myself."

'What are you planning to do?"

Angel contemplated. What can she do to prove Gina's revelation?

'We have to follow Alex and Richard."

"What?" Bryan asked. 'Why 'we?' Why am I included?"

Angel felt like scolding Bryan, like telling him that he's Richard's cousin so he has the obligation to help her. But that's not what came out of her mouth.

"I need help, and there's no one I could think of right now but you."

Bryan was surprised. Angel felt like taking back what she told him, but she can't because that's what she really feels. One thing that you can be sure of Angel is that she does not lie. 'Okay. I will help you."

Angel's face lit up. 'Thanks, Bryan."

'It's nothing."

He smiled at her. Angel somehow felt relieved that there's someone she can talk to regarding her problem with Alex. Even if that person is Bryan de Vera, someone who also belongs to the family that her parents dislike.

That afternoon, Angel and Bryan did as planned. Angel told Alex that she will go home late so she has to wait for her. She told her that aside from her class ending at 6PM, she has a meeting with the JPIANS. But the truth is she will use that time to secretly watch over Richard and Alex.

After their last class, Angel and Bryan went together to start their mission.

'Let's go to the library," Angel said. 'Alex told me that she stays there whenever she waits for my class to finish."

'But, what if they're not there?" Bryan said. 'I mean, would Alex tell you the truth if she is secretly seeing Richard?"

Angel let out a sigh. He has a point. 'So, where will we go?"

'Let's try the cafeteria."

The two went to the cafeteria. Alex and Richard were not there. 'How about the student lounge of SAHu?" Bryan suggested. Angel looked at him sharply.

'If they're not there, we will proceed to the library," Bryan said.

They went to the student lounge of School of Arts and humanities, and once again, they did not find Alex and Richard.

'How about in SPS?" Bryan said, pertaining to School of Physical Sciences where Richard's course BS Biology is being offered.

And once again, Angel looked at him sharply.

'Okay, fine. Let's go to the library," Bryan conceded.

They finally proceeded to the library.
