Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 630

Selena glanced over, and he casually averted his eyes.

"Ms. Bennett, please take a seat."

Selena eased into the couch. Blaine motioned to his assistant to serve her coffee, but upon noticing her belly, he switched it up. "Make it tea, please."

"Yes, sir," the assistant nodded.

The tea was served in an elegant set, exuding luxury. Selena wasn't all that interested in Blaine's real identity, but having someone powerful on her side was a definite plus. She needed all the help she could get to deal with Everett.

She cut straight to the chase with her request.

Blaine lounged back, his long legs crossed with casual grace. He absentmindedly twisted the ring on his finger.

With a soft laugh, he remarked, "No money, just a smooth divorce? Isn't that letting your lousy ex off a bit too easy?"

He thought it was a pity for her.

After all, with Everett's wealth, who wouldn't be green with envy?

"Don't worry, I won't skimp on your legal fees," Selena assured him.

Selena wasn't one of those people who thought money was trash, but she knew Everett too well. The more she demanded, the longer he'd drag things out. She was done with their back-and-forth.

Plus, with a kid on the way, her energy would be spread thin. She wanted to focus on her child, not get caught up in Everett's nonsense.

She could earn her own money and was determined to give her child the best life possible.

Blaine smiled warmly.

"Ms. Bennett, you've got it all wrong. It's not about the legal fees for me."

"As you can see, I'm not exactly strapped for cash. In fact... I'm quite well-off."

He seemed to be nudging her to ask about his motives.

But Selena pretended not to catch on, sipping her tea. "Let's stick to my plan." Blaine: "........."

What an unpredictable woman.

Once business was settled, Blaine straightened his suit. "Ms. Bennett, how about dinner? My treat."

Selena didn't hesitate to turn him down, "No, thank you."

Outside of business, she saw no reason to mingle.

Blaine pressed on, "Soon you'll be my top client. Surely, you could spare a meal?"

Selena frowned.

She was direct: "Don't make me regret hiring you as my lawyer."

She wasn't looking to swap one headache for another.

Blaine had this subtle mischievous vibe-felt risky.

Only those who had waded through life's murky waters, constantly on the edge, carried such energy. She just wanted a peaceful life, not extra drama.

Blaine chuckled softly.

Not easily swayed, huh?

He raised his hands in mock surrender, dropping his playful demeanor.

"Ms. Bennett, rest assured, I've got no hidden agenda. Just a simple dinner."

"And maybe to chat about the

Selena held his gaze for a bit.

Finally, she relented.

She realized he was being sincere this time.

His interest wasn't inappropriate or personal.

Everett froze.

His eyes narrowed as he looked at Ava, "With who? Callum?"

Ava smirked, "Qur Ms. Bennett is quite the catch, you know. It's not just Dr. Campbell lining up. If someone hadn't been dragging out the divorce, tying her down, she'd have had her second, third, and who knows how many fresh starts by now!"
