Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 328

Everett looked genuinely taken aback to see her, a fleeting emotion crossing his face before he masked it with indifference. "Selena," he said, his voice cold enough to freeze the air, "What's the meaning of this charade?"

Was she really pulling the Josh card again just because Everett was dodging her?

Before Selena could even process his words, Josh had already lost it. He swung his cane, landing a blow on Everett.

"You little brat, stop blaming everything on Selena. Do you think everyone's as conniving as that vixen? You're blind as a bat, can't tell right from wrong!"

Josh's disdain for Margot was obvious, and as Margot's eyes filled with tears, she looked like the picture of pity.

"Grandfather," Everett's voice held a soft reprimand.

"What? You disagree? I've warned you, if you ever mistreat Selena, I'll break your legs!"

Saying that, Josh raised his cane again, breathing heavily, his cheeks flushed with the effort, making the butler rush over in a panic.

"Josh, please, calm down, take it easy..."

But Josh wasn't listening.

"Grandfather."

This time, Selena's voice cut through. She looked a bit pale, but her calm demeanor was almost surreal, like she was just a bystander and not the one caught in the middle.

She walked over, gently taking Josh's arm, and said softly, "I'm alright. Your health is what matters. Let's head back to the hospital."

Josh looked at her, stunned.

Any woman in her position would be upset, and it was impressive she wasn't making a scene. He thought she'd come to back him up, never expecting she'd be the one calming things down. Was it really over just like that?

Everett's dark eyes narrowed, sharing Josh's disbelief.

He studied her face, trying to figure out if she truly didn't care or if it was all an act.

Feeling his eyes on her, Selena met his gaze, her eyes steady against his deep, questioning ones.

The loft was spacious and bright, with a massive floor-to-ceiling window offering a breathtaking view of the river.

Before they were married, she had loved this place and had asked if they could use it as their home.

He had turned her down, saying it wasn't convenient, and told her to pick somewhere else.

It was probably Josh, trying to make it up to her, who gifted them a villa in Moon Bay, noting it matched her name and had a nice ring to it.

She remembered when the media

exposed Margot's residence in a downtown Juxury apartment. She instantly recognized it as Everett's property, the apartment she had adored, and the unit number was fittingly 520.

No wonder he didn't want her to move in; he claimed it was inconvenient. Because it already had a mistress, a space where Selena wasn't welcome.

In fact, she'd been standing at the door for a while, seeing and hearing everything.

Never had she been more certain of Everett's feelings than she was right then. So, from start to finish, it seemed like she was the only one truly invested. "Everett."

Selena's voice was finally tinged with a hint of hoarseness, "I came to see you because I had things to say and questions to ask. But now I don't need to. I already have my answers."

If he could protect Margot like this going against his grandfather, then it wasn't shocking he'd let her take those pills that harmed her health, all for Margot's sake.
