Chapter 303
In that moment, she couldn't help but feel overwhelmed, a wave of fear and hesitation washing over her.
Seizing the chance when he was momentarily distracted, Selena gave him a hard shove, attempting to leap off the kitchen island. But Everett, with his seasoned instincts, anticipated her move. His long arm swiftly wrapped around her waist, pulling her back to him. Her legs were slender and straight, her ankles gracefully defined a sight to behold. His body was wedged between her legs, and from behind, her legs dangled by his waist. His broad shoulders and long legs starkly contrasted her petite frame, creating a scene both beautiful and decadent.
"You've done this so many times before, are you still scared?" Everett murmured teasingly in her ear, his voice lazy yet intensely captivating, while his actions were swift and commanding.
His eyes were filled with a deep joy.
Selena's body moved involuntarily. She couldn't steady herself, frightened of slipping, and eventually, she clung to his neck, resting her head on his shoulder.
Tears spilled from her eyes, but Everett gently kissed them away.
When she woke again, Selena found herself in bed, the room darkened as night had fully settled in. Everett was nowhere to be seen.
Her body ached, and her legs still trembled.
"Jerk! Beast! You teddy bear!" she muttered angrily under her breath.
When Everett returned with a pie, he found her puffed up like a pufferfish, but having just satisfied his appetite, he was endlessly patient with her.
"Awake?" he asked, setting down the pie and gently touching her cheek. "The pie's ready, eat it while it's warm."
"Eat, eat, eat! I'm too mad to eat!"
Selena turned her head away, refusing to look at him. "You have it all to yourself!"
Everett chuckled, "There's a big fireworks show in Newport tonight. Want to see it?"
Fireworks! For someone like Selena, who had a flair for the dramatic, this was a dream come true.
But...
Her dark eyes locked onto his, and she hesitantly asked, "You're really letting me go out?"
"Mhm." Everett casually tucked a pillow behind her and brushed her hair back from her forehead. "If you want to catch the fireworks, you'd better eat something quickly. We can still make it. Otherwise...

Before he could finish, Selena had already grabbed the bowl, which was as big as her face, and started devouring the pie with a spoon.
By 8:30 PM, Everett was driving Selena to the mountaintop.
Once there, Selena hopped out of the car and hurried to the railing, gazing out over the city. The neon lights twinkled, and the city lights were dazzling.
She breathed in the freedom, taking in the stunning view, her heart swelling with warmth.
Then came the countdown from the tallest building ahead.
10, 9, 8...3, 2, 1.
Cheers erupted from below, everyone shouting "Happy New Year!"
Selena felt Everett's arms tighten around her waist, her body nestled against his chest.
His voice came from above, "Selena, our new year is here."
As he spoke, the sky lit up with a thunderous boom, colorful fireworks bursting forth, turning night into day. Selena watched in awe at the breathtaking display.
"Next year, around this time, a little
one will be joining us to watch the fireworks," Everett said, his hand resting gently on her belly. "Mrs. Bennett, let's leave the past behind. From now on, the three of us, always together. What do you say?"
