Chapter 13
I stood at the front of Mr. Cashol’s biology class, in front of a bunch of bored grade eleven students. Thankfully, it was the last class of the day to teach but unfortunately, the lesson that was planned to be taught today was on ‘human reproduction’.
Luckily, I don’t have to explain how fertilization happens; I only need to explain the stage after the female receives from the male (if you know what I mean) and the growing process of the fetus. The other good thing in this lesson is that Mr. Cashol included a video link in his lesson notebook to start it off.
Oh gosh, I feel like I’m going to collapse. I wish Mr. Cashol was back to normal so he could deliver the lesson. He would be a lot better at it then I would.
I bet he wishes he was normal again I thought, before I turned my full attention to the students.
“Hello class, today we’re going to talk about one of the most difficult subjects to chat openly about with anyone; Human reproduction”.
Surprisingly, no one giggle at the mention of that word. So, I continued.
“We’re going to watch a video to start off, highlighting the stages of fertilization and the early stages of development. Then we’ll look at each stage in depth after”.
I pressed ‘play’ on the YouTube video and let the students watch it, sitting back into the teacher chair as their eyes became glued to the retractable projector screen at the front of the classroom.
Around halfway through the video, the classroom door suddenly slammed open and immediately heads turned in that direction, to see what or who was barging in.
Strolling into the room, was my duplicate. She glared at everyone in the room with her deep violet eyes, scanning until her gaze zeroed in on me. I could feel beads of sweat forming on my forehead as she stared intensely at me.
Something’s wrong; Her eyes weren’t that color yesterday I thought, knowing that my eye color is originally brown.
I wonder if the black salamander/lizard thing got her too.
Then another thought came to me.
Oh gosh, I hope that reptile didn’t do the same thing to Mr. Cashol.
The grade eleven students turned their eyes to me to see what I am going to say. Swallowing the lump of fear, I lifted my chin high and stood up from my seat, continuing to act as the teacher.
“Excuse me, is there something I can help you with? You’re interrupting my class”.
My duplicate let a crooked smile spread across her face as she began to walk towards me.
“Oh, Vanessa. Don’t play games with me now” she snickered, walking behind the tall black lab counters.
“Pardon me miss, I’m going to have to ask you to leave” I said, in Mr. Cashol’s baritone voice.
“I’m only going to say this once. I need you to come with me and no one will get hurt” replied my duplicate, who is now standing a few feet away, glaring at me.
But I stood my ground.
“Your threat will not be tolerated in this school, miss. Please leave my classroom”.
My duplicate furrowed her eyebrows at me and gritted her teeth together.
“Not without you!“.
Instantly, my duplicate self turned her forearms into dark purple tentacles and lunged them in my direction, to try to force me to come with her. Right when I was about to duck my head, my cape violet suddenly flew out of the black briefcase and slipped onto my broad shoulders, before yanking me out of the way.
I murmured a ‘thank you’ to it, before I darted my eyes at my duplicate again. But she was no longer in front of me anymore. Starting to panic, I began to frantically look around the classroom, since me and the students were in danger of getting seriously injured by my duplicate self.
Why did I let Mr. Cashol persuade me into creating another copy of myself? I should have-.
While lost in my thoughts, I suddenly felt something hard hit my feet, sweeping them out from underneath me. I hit the hard floor on my back, knocking the air out of my lungs for a few seconds.
As my vision was growing darker, I felt something slimy wrap around my leg and held me up in the air upside down, with my arms dangling down by my head.
After a few moments, I lost consciousness and felt my eyes roll into the back of my head, before blacking out.
