Mate ...s ?!?!

[Jax’s POV]

I could feel Orion’s pain, despite him trying to hide it from us, and it was seriously pissing me off. How the FUCK did he get hurt?!?! We were in school!! This was going to be the very last time I let him leave my line of sight. I watched him very closely as Jace and Cassie tried to get him laugh and talk to them. Even I tried to get him to speak. Nothing could get him to talk very much. It was actually starting to worry the hell out of me. I watched him closely and it looked as if he was struggling to breathe. What the fuck!!

He was never like this. Something was wrong with my fucking Mate and I wanted to know what the fuck it was. I could see that he was struggling to breathe too and that was something that had changed since second period. I will have to get the school to change our schedules to match. I will not let anything happen to him. I wanted to know what did happen but he didn’t seem to want to say anything anyway.

That’s when Cassie’s face changed to one of death. Jace and I turned to see Cara in the door way and almost growled angrily at the slut in the doorway. This bitch. I was going to be having a very bad day I just knew it.

Cara was looking around the room, when her slimy eyes had zeroed in on Jace and I, she smiled and waved before trying to sashay her way over to us. I swear I almost lost my lunch. She was disgusting. I was getting ready to get up from the table when I noticed that Orion was shaking in fear the closer Cara got to the table.

“Hi boys.” she said trying to be sweet but just sounding like nails on a chalk-board. Her voice grating to my ears.

“What do you want?” Jace snarled.

“Can’t I come say hello to my boyfriends?” Cara asked faux hurt in her eyes. That was IT!!!

Her words got menacing growls from both myself and Jace and we stood up. She had already caused enough problems with our Mate and there was no way this bitch was going to continue this! Our eyes flashed amber with our Alpha Power and everyone dropped to the floor. Everyone in the lunchroom accept Cassie and Orion was on the floor, struggling to breathe. Jace and I stood to our full height our menacing aura filling the entire lunch room. We brought ourselves to our full height to stand above everyone, something we did not enjoy but this was going to end right here and now.

We were done with everyone trying to get our attention. It’s been happening all day long, since we came back all the females and submissive males have been trying to climb all over Jace and I and we have had all we have been able to take of it all. Cara was beyond overstepping herself and I was over it all. I had just wanted to finish out this year with little to no hassle and yet it has been nothing but a fucking nightmare. Today I just wanted to enjoy my lunch with my Mates and our friend. Why was that so fucking difficult for people to understand?! Why is it that every female wants to jump in my pants? I have my Mates and I have no interest in another for any reason!!

I turned around slowly in a circle, making sure to look at every female in the room. I even made sure to catch the submissive males in my glance. “I will only say this ONCE, mostly because I really hate repeating myself.” I began, my voice ringing throughout the entire room. “Jace and I already have our Mate and we do not have the time for anyone else.” I seethed, as I turned back to my seat. Jace sat down first his Alpha aura slowly fading as I did the same. I was still facing everyone but sitting in my same spot, right in front of Jace and Orion.

I hated having to make others bend to me but this was getting out of control. I was an Alpha that was not a tyrant but did things a little differently, I wanted people to do things for themselves but would step in to make them do the right thing when it called for it to be that way. I was hoping that was going to be the end of it all and it would have been judging by the looks on everyone else’s faces they seemed to have accepted my words and were just going to leave us alone. Not Cara. Oh no this stupid bitch had to antagonize us further because she couldn’t leave well enough alone. She had to have the things that were never meant for her. Always reaching for the things out of her reach.

“Your Mate is Cassie?” she demanded, not even looking at Orion or acknowledging his existence in the least. That pissed me off right there. “You must be joking with me. That trash could never be the Luna. She is far too manly to do that. I swear she is more of a male than a female.” Cara sneered getting a deep growl from Cassie.

Jace held his hand up to Cassie, who had begun to get up but just sat back down at Jace’s warning, a knowing look in her eyes. She was after all training to become our Beta. Or at least she was going to be continuing her training to be our Beta when the Doc cleared her for the physical part. She had been doing very well according to our mother and she would bring this Pack a lot of pride when she took the role of Lead Beta.

Jace’s eyes flashed at Cara, a warning in them as he glared at the filthy she-Wolf, “Cara, you have no business here. You have already made a fool out of yourself. No, Cassie is not our Mate, she will however, be the next Lead Beta of the Pack. If I were you, I would show her a little more respect than you are right now.” Jace said as I turned back to face her. I wanted Orion on the other side of the table with Cassie in that moment but I knew it was about to be solely up to Jace and I to keep him safe. Cara was too close to him and there was nothing we could to do to fix that at the moment. Her slimy eyes were already zeroing in on him.

“This is our Mate. Orion Star.” I said pulling him into my lap, getting very shocked gasps from the entire student body that filled the lunch room. No one had seen that coming, I guess. I swear this entire populace was filled with a bunch of morons. It had already been common knowledge before we had left for Alpha camp that our Mate was an Omega, we had been told in front of the entire fucking Pack. It was not a secret and it was like everyone had forgotten that simple fucking fact.

Cara’s mouth actually dropped in shock. Her eyes bugging out a little as she went from shock to absolute fury. “Impossible!!” she screamed. “That thing is not worthy of you!!!!" she yelled out as she lunged for Orion.

Jace had her by her throat in an instant. Her feet dangling above the floor by a few inches. “My brother was very clear. We have found our Mate and we are very happy with Orion. If anyone touches him, they will deal with us.” he said as he tossed Cara onto the floor, her body sliding a few tables down from us. We don’t usually manhandle females while they are Humans but this was not going to be taken lightly. Cara was acting like an enemy so she was going to be treated as such.

“I should have killed that thing this morning!!” Cara snarled, slowly picking herself up from the floor, getting Orion to wince and hold onto his ribs. His eyes were connected to the floor and I was beginning to realize that it had been Cara that had hurt him. She had dared to hurt my Mate!!

‘Jace, call pop. Now.’ I thought to my twin allowing Orion to hear me as well. I was not going to hide anything from him anymore. ‘It looks as if we have another Rouge in our midst. I want her gone from this property immediately.’ I thought getting a subtle nod from my Twin and Orion to bury his head into my chest.

‘This is all my fault. I am so sorry.’ Orion thought his sadness clouding his thoughts. Making it very hard to read his emotions. He was going to slip soon and I knew he would feel even worse because we were in school.

I wrapped my arms tighter around him and turned us back around to the table. ‘This has nothing to do with you love. You need to understand that a person will either be good or evil because of their own choices. What others do may influence them but the ones that are easily influence by the bad in the world are not worth anyone’s time.’ I said nuzzling his neck affectionately. I didn’t give a fuck what everyone else thought. Orion was my Mate and I would love on him no matter where the fuck we were. Damn the crowd around us, watching with their judging eyes.

Orion just nodded and hid his face in my chest refusing to finish his lunch. Jace and Cassie had pushed Cara out of the lunchroom and things settled a little but my little star was still off put from the world and seemed to have withdrawn from everything. I was upset that everything had gone wrong and after Orion had gone to the nurse’s office and was cleared to finish the day Jace and I breathed a little easier. There was just too much going on for us to watch his every step. I wish we could but we needed to let him know we still trusted him to do things on his own. Even when everything inside of me was screaming not to let him out of our sight.

At the end of the day, I was not very surprised to see Orion basically falling in on himself. Jace and I didn’t have any other classes with our little Mate and that had worried the both of us very much. I should have listened to my gut and taken the three of us home. We could have gotten everything situated over the phone and had our schedules changed. Orion was smart enough to take the regular courses now and there was no reason he was in the classes he was in anymore. Kinder was dead.

We had been more than worried for him all day not knowing what had been going on with him. Especially when he had blocked us from his mind. We had been trying to get him to talk to us about his day while he was having it but he was not having it. He had shut us out and had not let us back in for anything. He would give us one-word answers or just ignore the question all together. It was quite annoying. So, when we saw him at the end of the day limping to the exit of the school not even looking up at his surroundings, we both knew there had been a reason he had blocked us out. He had been blocking out the attacks on him, not wanting us to go postal on whoever had been hurting him.

Cassie came running out of the school, making a bee line right for us. Her eyes were filled with anger, “I was just talking to a friend of mine. He was saying that all of Kinder and Cara’s friends have been punching and pushing Orion all day long. Calling him names and just being dickheads to him in general. The one other class I share with him I got kicked out of for hitting a little Barbie she-Wolf for running her mouth. I don’t know what happened after that.” she said her voice serious. Sounding a lot like a report from a Beta to their Alpha.

“Are there others who would stand up for Orion? It doesn’t seem like everyone here hates our little Mate.” Jace questioned as he watched Orion sit on the bench, still not having noticed any of us. He was in his own world and we could all tell.

“Of course, there is. There are three other Omegas in this school that try to protect him the best that they can. Along with my three Beta friends. There are those who love Orion’s kind personality. I am just the only one he can stand to be around for long periods of time. Well, before you two came.” Cassie replied thoughtfully.

I smiled a little. We were showing him something new that wasn’t so scary after all. He was giving us something not easily given fully. His trust in our judgement. He knew we could never hurt him ourselves and we would kill anyone who would try to hurt him.

Speaking of which.

“Cassie, gather your friends and anyone who does not want to suffer the wrath of their Alphas. Jace and I will be taking care of Orion. Gather everyone you can and bring them to the football field in about two hours.” I said as I began to move towards Orion. Lysander was getting anxious with the distance between us. He knew Orion was hurt and he needed to take care of his Mate.

It was the only thing he could think of and right now I was agreeing with him on that fact. Orion needed us and we were going to take care of him the best way we knew how.
