Chapter Chapter Thirty-Five
[Orion’s POV]
I knew coming to school again was going to be a nightmare. After Cara had beat me this morning and that display at lunch, I became the prime target of all of their friends. Kinder and Cara’s lackey’s all kept their assaults’ small but, in the end, I had been severely hurt. They had managed to open a few old scars and I was more than hurting from a few of the other sly tricks they had pulled on me. I had a broken ankle and a few more fractured ribs. I had had no idea how I was keeping myself awake and upright. I felt so much intense the more I moved and it hurt to breathe the deep breaths I took.
Rain was healing us as fast as he could but because I hadn’t eaten anything at lunch, I didn’t have the energy to do much healing. I had walked outside to wait for the boys and Cassie because I don’t think I would be welcomed back with my older brothers. I didn’t really know what to do now after school. I went to one of the benches and practically fell onto the seat, breathing heavily from the broken and fractured ribs and from the pain my entire body was in.
I could feel my boys but I didn’t have the energy to lift my head let alone look around me. I had blocked them from my mind when the others had cornered me in one of the other classes. The teacher had been one of the very few that hated me just as much as the kids and he had just let the kids beat the fuck out of me before calling class to order and began teaching. I was still on the floor in the back struggling to breathe.
The snickers from the others had just faded from around me as the day ended and I was able to pull myself onto my feet and shuffle out of the school.
I didn’t want my Mates to miss class because of me. They needed an education just as much as I did and having them stop everything for me while nice was not practical in a setting like school.
I jumped, wincing a little, at the sudden touch of a warm hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see Jax and Jace looking at me with worry in their eyes.
I could feel my own eyes start to fill with tears as they looked at me. “C-can we g-go h-home n-now?” I asked softly as I tried to stand, whimpering at the sharp pain from my broken ankle.
Jax gently scooped me into his arms and carried me over to their big truck. Cassie was nowhere to be seen. “Don’t worry about her little one. Jace will be coming back for her.” Jax whispered in my ear as he climbed up into the truck. I sat in his lap as Jace climbed into the driver’s seat and pulled us out of the parking lot.
“Tell us what happened baby.” Jace asked softly, his hand reaching for me. I breathed in deeply, reaching for him too.
“I-it d-doesn’t m-matter.” I said still trying to fight back to pain in my body.
“Stardust it does matter. It will always matter to the two of us and to Cassie. We love you baby boy and seeing you like this is breaking our hearts.” Jax said, his voice against my neck as he nuzzled me affectionately.
“T-they b-beat m-me f-for t-taking w-what w-as n-not m-mine.” I said as my tears ran down my face freely. I had always thought I would be left alone when I found my Mate not beaten almost to death in class.
“We are going home little one. We are taking you to the Doctor to get you all healed up and then you and I will just chill at the house.” Jace said as I sat quietly in Jax's lap.
I looked up at them a little worried. The last time I went to Hayle he put me to sleep for three damn days. I couldn’t miss anymore school. Regardless of anything else. “I-I don’t want to be p-put t-to sleep.” I whimpered softly.
“Oh, baby boy he won’t need to do anything like that. You should be able to just get away with a few bandages and a good night’s sleep. Any Wolf that is hurt usually sleeps 8hours to fully heal, if the injury is severe enough.” Jax said as he situated me more comfortably on his lap.
I put my head back on his shoulder and breathed in his scent. “I don’t want to miss anything.” I whispered.
Jax and Jace chuckled softly at me, smiling as we pulled into the Alpha house's driveway. Jace turned off the truck and jumped out running to open the door for Jax, so he didn’t have to put me down. I squeaked a little when he hopped down the ground. The jarring motion sending shocks through me.
“I’m sorry baby, don’t worry you are going to feel much better soon.” Jax said kissing my forehead and nodding to Jace before rushing into the Pack house and over to the infirmary.
