Master of his heart (Max and Brielle)

Chapter 1073

Brielle had just set down a glass of warm milk King brought her. But in a flash of anger, she splashed it right across his face, her body trembling with fury. "Get out."

King's cheek still bore the imprint of her slap, and now drenched in milk, he felt a sting of injustice.

Had he said something wrong?

Max had kept secrets from her, secrets that led her to harm herself. King felt she deserved to know the truth, no matter how bitter.

Brielle's grip on the glass tightened, her face flushing with rage.

King's patience began to wear thin as he stood up. "I wasn't wrong. You lost the baby because of this. You see, when you're with him, he keeps everything from you."

He believed he was the better man, open and honest with her. Yet, she never seemed to appreciate it. King was at a loss for what he'd done wrong.

Brielle's head buzzed with anger, recalling the hurtful events from the night before. Now, King was deliberately reopening her wounds. Was he taunting her because he had a child, a beautiful little boy, while she and Max had lost theirs?

Taking a deep breath, she tried to suppress the discomfort in her body.

"Are you happy my child is gone?"

King's lips tightened. He wasn't exactly happy, knowing it was Brielle who suffered. However, the thought of her bearing Max's child unsettled him. In his mind, that child should never have existed. Its natural loss seemed like a mercy to everyone involved. "Somewhat happy, I guess."

This time, not only milk but the glass itself was hurled toward him.

King dodged, the glass grazing his cheek before shattering against the wall.

""Get out!"

Brielle's emotions surged, a wave of pain and nausea hitting her.

King stood still, noticing her pallor, regretting his words.

"Brielle, are you alright?"

Attempting to stand, Brielle's face drained of color.

King moved to support her but was pushed away.

"My child may not have survived, but even your child's survival means nothing when the mother discards him like trash, right? What did you do to make her detest you so?"

King froze, retracting his hand.

"Brielle, provoking me won't do you any good."

A sarcastic smile crossed Brielle's lips as she turned away, slowly moving towards the bed. But King, acting on impulse, scooped her up and pinned her down.

"I misspoke. Considering the birth control pills, their effect should've worn off by now. You and Max didn't have a child, but how about having one with me?"

Brielle tried to slap him but lacked the strength. Tears rolled down her cheeks.

King, initially eager, softened at the sight of her vulnerability. He buttoned up her dress, his actions awkward, unsure of what to say next.

He gently stroked her back, trying to comfort her. This gesture, however, only intensified Brielle's anguish as she realized the impact of the birth control pills on her body. She shouldn't have trusted the Dorsey family or Dorsey International. It was alPher fault.

"Max"

In her grief, she whispered his name, her voice breaking as she cried into King's chest.

King stiffened, pain spreading through his body as he felt her tears, not for him, but for another.

"Okay."

He responded, continuing to comfort her, lost in his thoughts and feeling utterly out of his depth. Brielle had cried before, but those tears were never for him, making this moment even harder to bear.

King, smelling faintly of milk,

wondered what Max would have done in his place. Unsure, he blurted out an offer to buy her a car Bentley, Maserati, Lamborghini – anything she wanted.

Her tears stopped abruptly. She looked at him, her gaze dark and cold.

"Get out."

Though it was his house, King felt an unsettling urge to leave.

Leaning against the wall outside, he ruffled his hair in confusion.

Where had he gone wrong? Was telling her the truth a mistake? Or was his desire to be with her the issue?

But didn't Max want her too?
