Married To My Dearest Enemy by Jared Mandel

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Tyler looked at Audrey, asking, “What? Do you think I’m joking with you?”

Audrey didn’t deny it and whispered, “Considering my current situation, you should be happy, I guess.”

Tyler nodded. “You’re right. I’m quite happy.”

As he stood up, he continued, “Have you forgotten how you treated me back then? I hold grudges, and now that you’re down and out, it’s a perfect opportunity for me to get back at you. How could I let you off?”

She knew all along that this man was never kind–hearted. She was a hundred percent sure that he was not going to treat her in a nice way.

“Audrey, besides me, you have nob*dy else to rely on.” Tyler raised his hand and brushed Audrey’s hair behind her ear, saying “I heard that your grandmother urgently needs a large sum of money for surgery. Given your current situation, it must be difficult for you to afford it, right?”

Audrey’s hands hung by her side, her nails digging deeply into her palms. “How do you plan to get back at me?”

“By marrying you, of course. The best revenge is to torment you right under my nose,” Tyler replied.

Audrey knew very well that with the Russell family’s status in Willowdale, they could easily help the Griffin family make a comeback. Her mother’s insistence on her. marrying Tyler was because her mother knew about the Russell family’s background.

Even if Audrey refused Tyler, she couldn’t escape the fate of sacrificing herself for the Griffin family. Compared to marrying a man she didn’t know, Tyler at least had good looks, and that would be a result that seemed acceptable.

Audrey looked at him, asking, “What if I refuse to marry you?”

“For the sake of your grandmother, you will.” Tyler sounded certain.

Audrey was about to speak when her phone rang again.

It was her mother, Emma, calling again.

“Let’s go. Don’t keep them waiting for too long.” Tyler said, walking toward the door.

Audrey took a deep breath, and then followed him.

The private room they were going to was also on this floor. At the door, Audrey couldn’t

“Are you

you planning to go in dressed like this?” Tyler stopped at the door. “Don’t to make a good impression.on your future parents–in–law?”

Audrey looked down at her attire, feeling embarrassed. “I… I’ll go change.”

Luckily, she had left a spare set of clothes there.

“Follow me.” Tyler took Audrey’s hand and led her toward a nearby restroom. While walking, he made a phone call. “Bring the things I left in the car to the restroom on the third floor.”

“Okay, Mr. Russell. Please wait a moment.”

Audrey stood to the side, thinking of the unfinished conversation they had just had. She decided to bring it up again. “Tyler, you have many ways to seek revenge against me. Why did you choose this one?”

Tyler raised an eyebrow in response. “What do you think?”

Before Audrey could speak, Tyler continued, “It definitely isn’t because I like you.”

Hearing that, she bit her tongue.

At that moment, a woman approached them.

“Mr. Russell, here are the things you asked for, the woman said.

Tyler nodded toward Audrey, ordering, “Give them to her.”

The young woman handed a bag to Audrey.

“Even if they are my parents, you can’t embarrass me in front of them,” Tyler said calmly. “Go change.”

Audrey hesitated for a few seconds before taking the bag and entering the restroom.

As Audrey went inside, Tyler took a few steps to the side. “Those two people who were giving her a hard time in the private room submitted their resumes to the Russell Group a few days ago, right?“,

“Yes, and they both passed the initial selection. If nothing unexpected happens, they will be hired officially,” the woman replied.

Tyler sneered. “They are not qualified to work at the Russell Group.”

Zoey Dixon instantly understood what Tyler meant. “I sec.”

Tyler waved his hand, signaling Zoey to leave first.

Audrey finished changing her clothes and hesitated for a moment before using the cosmetics from the bag. She was naturally beautiful, so she didn’t need much makeup. A little touch–up was enough to make her look perfect.

As Audrey looked at herself in the mirror, she became absent–minded. It seemed like she hadn’t dressed up like this in a long time. She had almost forgotten what it felt like to wear makeup.

“Audrey, are you ready?” Tyler’s voice came from outside the door.

Audrey snapped back to reality and turned to walk out.

“It fits you well,” Tyler commented as he looked at Audrey.

“How did you know…” Audrey began to ask.

“Look at your figure. It’s easy to tell at a glance,” he interrupted.

Audrey remained silent.

As they approached the door of the private room, Audrey heard familiar laughter coming from inside. She furrowed her eyebrows slightly. ‘Is Amelia here too?” she thought.

Back in the day, when Audrey and Tyler were “fighting against each other,” Amelia did everything she could to turn them against each other.

They were once evenly matched, but because of Amelia, Audrey became the unforgivable wicked woman, while Tyler became the “victim.”

Moreover, it was widely known that Amelia had feelings for Tyler. However, after he went abroad for further studies, Amelia quickly moved on.

If Amelia found out that the person Audrey was going on a blind date with was Tyler, Audrey wondered how Amelia would react.

“What are you thinking?” A warm hand suddenly held Audrey’s hand, and a deep voice sounded in her ear.

Startled, Audrey took a step back, accidentally stepping on Tyler’s foot. As a result, the door to the private room was pushed open

The conversation inside abruptly stopped.

Tyler wrapped his arm around Audrey’s shoulder in a natural way and greeted the people inside,

So we’re late.”

“Tyler?” Amelia looked at the two of them. “How… how did you end up together?”

Tyler walked in with Audrey. “Why can’t we be together?”

A hint of embarrassment flashed across Amelia’s face. “No, I mean…”

Tyler ignored Amelia and introduced Audrey to his father, James Russell, and mother, Hannah Russell, who were sitting on the side. “Mom, Dad, this is Audrey.”

Hannah nodded with a smile. “Indeed, just as you described…”

“Mom, Audrey has had a busy day and is a little hungry. Let’s cat and chat, Tyler interrupted Hannah and led Audrey to a seat.

“You and Tyler have known each other for a long time, haven’t you?” Emma asked in a lowered voice.

Audrey replied concisely. “She used to be my classmate.”

Emma’s smile deepened. “Then it must be fate. I was just discussing your wedding date with Hannah. You can get married this year.”

Audrey furrowed her brows. “I haven’t agreed…

“Tyler, so you and Audrey were classmates?” said Emma as she cut Audrey short and turned to Tyler.

Tyler glanced at Audrey’s face. “Yes, I only found out yesterday that Audrey was the one I went on a blind date with.”

Emma said with a smile, “You two really have a connection.”

Tyler nodded. “Indeed, we have a connection.”

“I also think it’s quite a connection. Amelia seemed to have forgotten her previous embarrassment and chimed in, “My sister used to bully Tyler with her friends…”

“Bully Tyler?” Hannah looked at Amelia in surprise.

Amelia nodded. “Yes, Mrs. Russell. Back in the day…”

“Who are you?” Amelia’s words were interrupted by Tyler.

She’s Audrey’s sister,” Emma explained.

Tyler raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t realize that.”

Amelia thought Tyler had forgotten about her and explained, “When my sister and her friends were bullying you, it was I who helped out. Don’t you remember?”

Tyler’s expression remained calm. “When did Audrey bully me with her friends? I don’t remember.”
