Chapter 2099
The Yates family did blame Jessica for stealing her household register and getting married to Hank, but they did not want her to
die. Therefore, after a discussion, they decided to hire a lawyer for their daughter.
They hoped their daughter could be given a light sentence.
Jessica’s brothers and sisters-in-law did not really want to help her, but their parents scolded them for some time.
Hence, they had no choice but to promise their parents. Everyone chipped in some money to hire a lawyer for their sister.
Chelsea and George were not mistaken. The old couple was indeed Jessica’s parents.
They had come to the hospital to beg their son-in-law to be merciful and let their daughter off.
Their daughter could get a lighter punishment if their son-in-law were willing to produce a letter of forgiveness.
However, Mr. and Mrs. Yates would surely be met with Mr. and Mrs. Brown’s obstruction and scolding if they wanted to do so.
On the other hand, Liberty was unaware of everything, nor did she want to care. It had nothing to do with her anymore. Sonny
was her remaining connection to the Brown family.
...
Meanwhile, at the Stones’ residence, Clive, who had been out, returned.
When he drove past Remy’s villa, he glanced at it and realized his sister was in there. Although he wanted to stop the car, he
went home in the end.
The feelings his sister and Remy shared were mutual. Although Remy’s hometown was in Annenburg, he already had two villas
in Wiltspoon. That villa that was undergoing renovation was even adjacent to the Stones’ family villa.
Clive approved of Remy.
FC & Co. was in talks with Stone Group about a collaboration.
The person in charge of it was Remy.
It was an opportunity that Ben had created for his younger brother to please his in-laws.
Even if the collaboration did not happen, Clive still admired Remy.
Most importantly, Remy liked his sister. However, his mother could not bear Elisa moving away to a distant place. Clive felt the
same. Therefore, while he did not put in a good word for Remy, he did not stop them either. He simply let things take their
course.
When Julian started pursuing Elisa some time back, Clive noticed his parents’ attitudes toward Remy improved significantly.
Since his sister could be in Remy’s villa to help supervise the renovations while their parents were home, it meant their parents
had given their stamp of approval.
After parking the car, Clive alighted and asked the butler who came out to welcome him, “Has my mom taken her afternoon
nap?”
“No. She’s still watching the television in the house. Mr. Stone is with her. Ms. Elisa had gone to Mr. Remy’s house next door.
Only the missus went upstairs to take a rest.”
Alice often felt sleepy during the early stages of pregnancy. After getting used to naps, it had become her habit to take an
afternoon nap every day.
“Have you eaten, Mr. Clive?” the butler asked.
Clive turned around to retrieve an envelope from the car. He replied, “I ate outside.
“Please head next door to ask Elisa and Remy to return.”
“Okay.”
Clive brought the envelope into the house.
