Loveless Marriage

Chapter 154  You Should Have One As Soon As Possible

Just as she was lost in thought, Isabella felt her clothes being tugged. Coming back her senses, she lowered her head and saw a cute and young face. Then she asked gently, "Rachel, what's the matter?" Looking at her, the little girl held her toy without saying a word.

Then Isabella asked again, "Wanna pee?"

Seeing her cutely nod her head, Isabella smiled immediately, "I'll take you to the bathroom. Let's go."

Then she took Rachel out of her office. As they passed by the her colleagues, the little girl attracted a lot attention, who all greeted Rachel.

Before they arrived at the bathroom, John suddenly walked in and said, "Miss Jones, Polygon is inviting all members of our department to have a dinner party tomorrow night."

As soon as he finished speaking, the whole department was instantly in an uproar.

"Polygon Group? Isn't this like a blind date?" Some young men teased, "If only there were pretty girls."

Hearing this, some girls immediately rolled their eyes, "Don't all of you already have girlfriends? You can't be so greedy... But I wish there could be some handsome guys, like Mr. Miller."

The corner of Isabella's mouth twitched. Ignoring the discussions, she calmly asked John, "When did this happen?"

"Just now. Their administrative department send me a message." John passed his phone to her.

Thinking for a second without any expression on face, she looked at her subordinates and asked: "Do you guys have the time?"

Such company activities were very common, so there was nothing strange. Furthermore, Polygon was in much higher level than Benton, so it was their honour to be have such opportunity. Even if she wasn't interested, she had to consider for her subordinates.

As she expected, everyone nodded their heads. They just wanted to see how the big companies like Polygon would hold a party.

So Isabella nodded at John straightforwardly, "Alright, tell them we'll be there right on time."

"Okay." John then turned and left.

Her department bustled with excitement once again.

"Guys, talk about it after work. Now continue working."

After saying that, Isabella walked out while holding Rachel's hand.

Out of the bathroom, the little girl suddenly stopped.

Seeing this, Isabella lowered her head and asked, "What's the matter?"

Rachel slowly raised her pinky finger and pointed in a direction.

Isabella looked over, asking: "You wanna play over there?"

That was the company's leisure area, which was colourfully decorated and had a lot of spaces.

Thinking that she'd also stayed bored in her office, Isabella smiled, "Alright, let's go there."

Then she let John bring her laptop over, and started to work while sitting on sofa.

Everyone passing by would ask about Rachel.

"Hi, Miss Jones. Is she your daughter?"

"Miss Jones, I've no idea that your child are already this big? So cute!"

Some of her colleagues even went over to touch Rachel's face, scaring the little girl quite badly. Seeing this, Isabella was so tired of explaining that she even wanted to curse.

In the end, she turned down her laptop and waved to the little girl: "Rachel, come over here."

Rachel ran over to her side with a sweet smile and touched her face affectionately.

Isabella's heart immediately felt being warmed up. She stared at her mouth, then carefully tested her, "Then, do you like me? If you do... Can you speak it out loud?"

Looking at Isabella with a pair of pure eyes, Rachel lightly bit her hands. She remained silent after a long while.

Isabella didn't give up. Her voice became more even gentle as she coaxed: "So you don't like me, Rachel?"

Obviously understanding her words, the little girl immediately shook her head.

Feeling overjoyed, Isabella pretended to be wronged, "But I don't believe you, if only you can say... '

Rachel's long eyelashes fluttered a bit, and her pink lips slowly moved, as if something was to burst out of her throat.

Isabella immediately stared at her without blinking, nervously yet expectantly.

Was she going to speak?

"Miss Jones."

A voice suddenly sounded in the silent space. It not only scared Isabella, but also scared Rachel whose body even trembled a bit. She immediately closed her month and fearfully leaned towards Isabella. Isabella frowned, then turned to look at the person.

It was a meticulously-dressed woman, who looked around 30 years old. She probably just passed by and stopped to greet Isabella. Her raised eyebrows made her look a bit unfriendly.

"Miss Cotton, Can I help you?" Isabella smiled, but didn't stand up.

Heather Cotton, manager of the Marketing department, was known by the whole company of her strong working ability. She still hadn't got married and was a bit mean to the people around her. Originally, Isabella didn't have much chances to get along with her, not did she care about what Heather was like. But recently, she felt Heather'd become very hostile towards her, who always targeted her at the meetings, and even blamed her to their superiors. It was like Isabella grab her man or something.

"Everyone knows you have a cute daughter now. But you don't have to take her to work everyday, right? Are you treating here as your home?" Heather smiled coldly.

Hearing this, Isabella wasn't angry, and just said in a polite and calm voice: "You've misunderstood me, Miss Cotton. She's a good girl and won't cause any trouble. I didn't delay my work as well."

"As a manager, you should be able to hire a nanny, shouldn't you? If they all bring their kids to the company like you, this place will turn into a kindergarten." Heather sneered.

"You don't have a child, Miss Cotton, so of course you have no idea how difficult it is to bring up a child. Children are just too sticky, even nannies are useless. Also, Mr. Smith allowed me to do this." Isabella replied indifferently, as she gently rubbed Rachel's head.

For a woman in her thirties who hasn't been married, let alone have a child, Isabella's words undoubtedly hurt Heather's heart, whose face immediately darkened.

But then, she suddenly thought of something, and mocked, "It's better not to be born than to be abandoned. Don't you think so, Miss Jones?"

Hearing this, Isabella's face turned cold. Although Heather didn't know that Rachel wasn't her child, she knew that Isabella'd been divorced.

She carried Rachel, took her laptop, and walked past her with a faint smile. Her tender face was so radiant as she said. "If you want a child, you should have one so as soon as possible. It's dangerous to be elderly parturient women."

Before Heather could say anything, Isabella had already walked away.

Standing on the spot, Heather's eyes was extremely cold.
