Love in Twilight novel (Clarissa and Damien)

Chapter 473 Mommy Will Make Them for Me Even if You Won’t Let Me Eat Them

Clarissa stood up, held Neil's hand, and led him to the kitchen.

"Mommy's going to the kitchen to make you custard tarts now. Do you want to help me?"

"Okay!"

At this moment, Damien was seated on the sofa in Chanel's house. He leaned back a little while watching a small child play.

Chanel snuck glances at him occasionally.

In truth, she had his phone number and she could contact him on WhatsApp. However, they had only truly started communicating with each other after she had officially adopted Logan.

She didn't know what was wrong with her. Whenever she texted Damien, she couldn't help trembling violently as her heart raced. She was as nervous and anxious as she had been at eighteen years old. Chanel had grown up without a father, and Damien's mature behavior had brought her a lot of comfort in her youth.

To this day, she remembered how the sun had shone down on his face when he was explaining a question to her one day.

The day before, Damien had sent her a message saying he was going to sign an agreement at Eden Investment Corporation. He would drop by to see Logan.

With her hands trembling, Chanel replied with an "Okay."

Chanel was now a proper lecturer so she had more time on her hands, unlike Clarissa, who had to write papers to be promoted. That day, she woke up early to tidy up the house.

She had never expected that Damien would become a part of her life again, let alone drop by her home.

That was why she adopted Logan. She just wanted to have something to link her to Damien.

All of this seemed like a wonderful dream.

From the moment Damien arrived, he remained seated on the sofa in silence while watching Logan play.

"He's a little shy, and he's on the skinny side." He didn't look away from Logan.

Chanel almost spilled water on herself. "Yes, yes, he is. I'll try my best to cook the things that he likes. Are you... Are you going to stay for dinner?"

"No, I have to pick my son up." Damien glanced at his watch. It was already five o'clock.

"Where is he?"

"At Clarissa's place."

"Oh. I...I've already made you some tea. Aren't you going to drink it?" Chanel was disappointed as she looked down at her cup.

"Maybe next time." After that, Damien got up to leave.

Unbeknownst to him, his words gave her boundless hope. Her imagination started to run wild.

As Damien headed toward Clarissa's apartment, he received two messages from an unknown number. There were no words, only photos. One of them was of Clarissa lying in bed with a man watching her. In the second one, Clarissa looked happy when the man gave her a doll. The last one was of Clarissa crying in the man's arms.

The photos weren't too clear, and they seemed to have been taken through a window.

Damien pursed his lips. What a fucking wonderful life she'd been living!

He knocked on her door.

Clarissa answered the door.

She had an apron on, and her hair was tied up in a bun. She even had mittens on.

"You're here already? I'm making Neil custard tarts." After that, she went back to the kitchen. The latest batch of custard tarts was probably ready.

Damien walked in and shut the door behind him.

"Daddy, the custard tarts Mommy's making for me smell amazing! Do you want to try some?" Neil was seated on the sofa, happily nibbling at a custard tart.

"Mommy?" Damien frowned and glanced at the kitchen. He could only see Clarissa's vague outline through the frosted glass door.

"Yeah. Isn't she your ex-wife? An uncle told me that today." With a mouthful of food, Neil mumbled, "Custard tarts are delicious! Mommy will make them for me even if you won't allow me to eat them, Daddy." Damien ignored him and headed toward the kitchen.

Clarissa kept an eye on the oven while slathering egg yolk on the crust pastry, looking very busy with her task.

The smell of the custard tarts wafted around the room.
