The worker remained calm as he diligently inspected the room with his
device. Then, he said to Tania, “Miss, please turn off the electricity for a
moment so that I can check this power outlet.”
“Are you certain it’s here?” Tania asked impatiently. “Is there nothing wrong
with the house?”

“You’ll need to turn off the electricity for me to confirm that. If I don’t test it
now, I’ll have to come back another time. Wouldn’t it be better if I just ensure
here’s nothing wrong now? These tests will happen more frequently from
low on, you know. It’s preferable to avoid sudden blackouts that could affect
he family. After all, you always inundate us with complaints whenever there’s
blackout!”

“Well, hurry up then! How bothersome…” Tania grumbled as she walked away.
I quickly got up and ran into the bathroom to retrieve the sausage–shaped
bag of medication. I handed it to him, and he stared at me in shock as he
took it.
Embarrassed by the look in his eyes, I had no other choice. My life depended
on it. I wouldn’t have stored the medication there if I had any other option. It
was mortifying!
However, I didn’t have time to dwell on these thoughts. I heard Tania’s
footsteps approaching, so I hurried back to bed. As soon as I pulled the
covers over me, Tania entered the room again.
The worker tinkered around and said a few more things before leaving.

Seemingly concerned, Tania observed me as I lay in bed. She even used her
hand to poke me. After confirming that I hadn’t woken up at all, she grumbled
under her breath and left, slamming the door behind her.
Everything returned to normal. I exhaled and took out my phone to check the
security footage. As soon as I had my phone, I immediately downloaded the
application connected to the security cameras.
From the footage, I saw that Tania had gone to Felix’s room. Felix was
currently taking his afternoon nap.
She seemed quite responsible when it came to taking care of Felix, and she
did everything she was supposed to.
Then, I saw her leaving the house. She had bags of groceries with her when
she returned, so I assumed she went grocery shopping.

I made a mental note of when she left the house. The next day, when she
was out of the house again, I turned off the security cameras and went into
Kevin’s study. However, I couldn’t find the bunch of keys inside the secret
compartment.
I started to feel a little uneasy. Did Kevin discover that the keys had been
moved? Why else would he suddenly take them away?
After a thorough search, I found nothing. I had to leave it be.
I went downstairs to try and open the main door. Sure enough, when Tania
left the house, the door was locked from the outside; I couldn’t open it from
the inside.
Hailey was right. They locked me up and told the others that I had gone
abroad for treatment.

It was a foolproof plan. Even if I died, no one would notice.
On the fourth night, Kevin finally returned.
When he came back, he went straight to my room and sat by my bed. He
kept staring at me, who was supposed to be soundly asleep.
He only left when Tania said it was time to eat. I opened my eyes slightly to
observe him. Just as he reached the door, he turned around and looked at
me with a faint but sinister smile. The smile sent shivers down my spine.
Just then, the phone I had hidden beneath me buzzed. I quickly took it out
and stared at the door as I answered the video call. Hailey’s confused face
appeared on my screen. “Danielle, the report came back… There’s nothing
wrong with the medication. It’s just a supplement that aids in recovery. It
doesn’t cause any harm to the body!”
