Chapter 10
I walked highly annoyed as I headed to the mandatory, and highly boring, training. I had totally forgotten about the monkey girl. I vaguely wondered about her but figured that was not my division that was the lab’s job to figure out what the hell happened to her. Maybe she was a Project Rho creation.
I stopped as I reached the door. I looked at the clock at a nearby wall and it showed I was an hour earlier than I thought I was. I looked through the frosted windows of the training room. I hesitated. Suddenly everything that had happened to this point came to my mind. I waited. I saw the silhouette of Paula walk pass the door and heard her call out.
“Beth!” I watched her skip off to meet with Beth.
I slowly walked into the room and looked around. I saw Paula talking to Beth off in the corner. Paula was of course wearing that purple sports bra and super tight tights. I tried not to look at her for too long. Beth and Paula laughed about something and I looked around.
I had to find Olga. If future Olga was right, she would be here somewhere. I looked around from her. I wondered which edition of time was I in, was I in the one where I had pulled the monkey girl in or was I in the time where Olga had done it? I didn’t have much time to think because I suddenly bumped into someone.
“Oh, hell sorry,” I grabbed the hands of a girl I had bumped into to prevent her from falling. I recognized her black hair, pale skin and beautiful black eyes. It was Olga.
“Watch where you are going Time!” Olga said in her snooty bitchy attitude.
Ah so this was the Olga I knew.
I tried not to ogle at her. She was wearing a black sports bra, and black tights. She didn’t look like she was working out yet. So, she was not all sweaty. I tried not to fantasize about her, I did not want to jump again.
“Olga!” I said relieved to see her.
“What’s going on?” Olga asked she must have noticed the urgency in my voice, her bitchy mode had melted away again and replaced with concern.
“This is going to sound crazy,” I said. “You told me to find you, I’ve been displaced in time. You told me it happened to you before.”
Olga’s eyes bulged, and she grabbed my hand and pulled me.
“How many times?” Olga asked.
“Through the portal?” I asked, and she nodded. “Two times.”
“Have we figured out how it happened?” Olga asked.
“You thought that it was because I had gotten attacked by monkey girl yesterday.” I said rolling the die that maybe this was the time I had gone to. “She must have torn at my suit and I didn’t check it.”
“You idiot!” Olga reacted the same way she had in the last time lines and slapped me a couple of times.
“Yeah I might have been bombarded by Chronton Particles two times.” I said as she pulled on me. She looked around before she led me into one of the training rooms.
“Okay tell me everything,” Olga said.
So again, I told Olga everything. Including jumping to a time where we were together. Olga didn’t react to that the way I thought she would and just told me to continue.
“And I gave you an anti-chronoton shot?” Olga asked, and I nodded. “And you said that when I went in that subject you got yesterday was different?”
“You’re thinking about something that future you didn’t think about.” I said noticing that she had this different idea formulating in her mind.
“So, I didn’t think about someone possibly sabotaging the chronotraveler?” Olga asked I shook my head. This was the first time Olga even mentioned that. “I must of, thought your stupid ass didn’t check your suit before jumping into the portal.”
“I did do that,” I raised my hand and admitted.
“I know, but why did the monkey girl change?” She asked.
That was bothering me, I had no idea why this monkey girl had changed.
“It sounds like someone was trying to disprove your claim.” She said.
“But you’re the only one I’ve…” I started to say then I realized she was not the only one I had told. I had told Paula too. “But there is no way she would do it.”
“Who?” Olga asked.
“Paula,” I said.
“You told the director?” Olga asked, and I nodded. “What did she say?”
“Nothing really,” I admitted. “She just brought me over to the scientist.”
“But the director knows about my situation.” Olga revealed.
“What?” I asked.
“She knows what happened to me, why did she take you the scientist?” Olga asked herself and she was clearly had thoughts churning in her head.
“You never did tell me how you got out of the loop,” I said.
“It ran out of my system,” Olga said. I suddenly remembered that she had said that before. “But I had to take anti-chronoton shots.”
“So, what the hell am I supposed to do just sit pretty until it runs out of my system?” I asked.
“It’s a bit more complicated,” Olga said. “With me it was the first time it had ever happened to anyone, getting stuck in a temporal distortion, with you they know about me. They could have used what I knew about that to help you. So, it doesn’t make sense why they didn’t. Who told you about me? I mean before I did?”
“Sheamus,” I said.
“You can trust him,” Olga said. “If you jump again look for me or him.”
“Why?” I asked.
“He was the one who actually did the right thing,” Olga said.
I nodded that I agreed.
“So, what is the plan?” I asked.
“We can pump you full of Anti-chronton shots,” Olga said. “But I don’t think that would help much I mean whoever messed around with the Cronotraveler to make you wrong is someone we should focus our attention on. Do you understand?”
I nodded.
“Did I tell you there is a way to control it?” Olga asked.
“Yes, and you also told me that I should avoid going through the portal again.” I said, and she nodded.
“Last thing you need is getting bombarded by more Chronoton particles.” Olga sighed. “But you must realize something.”
“And that is?” I asked.
“Someone is time napping you,” Olga said. I was floored.
I stopped to think about that. That was true, exactly what was happening with me could be considered time napping. I felt my world spin around and I wondered who in the world would want to do that to me? I’ve pissed off my share of people, but enough for someone to go rogue and time nap me? I had no idea who it could be. At least at that point I didn’t. I gave a glance out of the corner of my eye and saw Paula and Beth exercising together. “Oh hell!”
