Chapter 235 A Family of Pissants
Ryan's face was full of rage. His shout attracted everyone's attention.
May's mouth curved up at the corners as she sneered, satisfied.
Sherry, who'd been assigned a corner table, heard Ryan's voice and trembled.
The Jackson family wasn't some big clan in Kato, but because of the Harmony Group's rapid development these past few years, they had some power in the city. "Hurry and apologize to your uncle, Tracy!"
Sherry urged hastily, afraid of Ryan's reprisal if the apology came late.
Hearing Sherry's words, the surrounding guests looked at her in contempt.
When Amber and Peter had come down on Tracy and Yuri, as their mother, Sherry had simply hid off to the side and said nothing.
Now that Ryan was forcing Tracy to apologize, Sherry was putting her own daughter in the line of fire.
Tracy and Yuri had long since lost all hope with her, so her words didn't bother them particularly.
Baron looked at Ryan, a severe glint in his eyes.
Tracy stood up and looked at Ryan calmly. "I didn't do anything wrong. Why should I apologize?"
"What do you mean you didn't do anything wrong? As a junior, you insulted my wife in public. Why shouldn't you apologize?" Ryan growled. Tracy scoffed. "If you owe money, you should pay it back! Your wife said so herself, and everyone here heard it. How am I insulting her?"
"Bullshit!"
Ryan raged. "The Jackson family has a hundred percent of shares in the Harmony Group, so how is it possible for us to default on a debt?"
"You'll have to ask her that!"
Tracy said mildly. "I want to know too. The Harmony Group is worth tens of millions. As its inheritor, how could your wife continue to owe five hundred thousand for four years and not pay back a single dime? "Or maybe the Harmony Group is just for show, is actually broke, and can't even produce five hundred thousand?"
Tracy's words shocked the audience!
Ryan was the only heir to the Harmony Group. Even though Karl was still the chairman, Ryan had already started taking charge of the company.
Tracy was here doubting their capability to produce a measly five hundred thousand.
"Enough!"
Ryan spat. "The Harmony Group is developing just fine, and we've no need for an outsider to come butting in!"
Ryan could feel that something was wrong. He shot a glance at Amber and saw the unease in her eyes.
Clearly, Tracy wasn't lying. It really was Amber who had defaulted on the debt.
Of course, Ryan wasn't going to put Amber to the question in public. He just glared at Tracy and threatened, "You need proof, girl. Without proof, this is libel, and I can sue you for trying to ruin the Harmony Group's reputation!"
"Go on and sue me. If I can't take it, it's my loss!"
Tracy said authoritatively, without any regard for Ryan's threats.
Up until this moment, Ryan realized that this woman wasn't quite so easily dealt with.
Then, a convoy of million-dollar luxury cars rolled up in front of the ranch.
"The guests you invited are here!"
Peter came inside, all smiles.
"Sorry I'm late, Mr. Jackson. There was an important meeting. I came here as soon as I could."
A middle-aged figure chortled as he swaggered into the banquet hall. There was a beautiful young woman clinging to his arm.
"Hah, no worries. It's my nephew's honor that you can came visit his wedding in person! Came inside!"
Ryan laughed, pleased.
"Congratulations, Mr. Jackson!"
"Yes, heartiest congratulations, Mr. Jackson!"
Following in the first one's footsteps, almost a dozen Kato business tycoons arrived on the scene.
Without fail, every one of them had come because Ryan had invited them.
People who didn't know would have thought that it was Ryan's son who was getting married today.
Peter couldn't stop smiling.
The people who'd come were all bigshots to him. That they would come here to bless his son's wedding was completely out of his expectation.
"As expected of my brother-in-law. Everyone you know is important. When it's Marry's wedding, there'd be even more important characters visiting, right?" Peter came up to Ryan and said gratefully.
"Heh, it's nothing. If a few friends hadn't been out of the country on business, we'd get some more guests in here," Ryan said, pleased.
He said that, while sneering inside.
If Karl hadn't told him that an actual bigshot was going to be here today and to get close to the Zouch family, why would he have brought so many partners?
The people who'd came were all tycoons who had business with the Harmony Group and needed to rely on the Jackson family to survive.
He'd called these people here for that bigshot with the Zouch family.
"You're quite something, honey. So many people coming for you just for a wedding."
Amber said, similarly pleased, glancing deliberately at Tracy.
"That's right, you're really something. We need to treat you to a meal after the wedding is over."
May's smile was bright as well.
Tracy bringing up the debts that Amber and Peter owed in public had shamed them a great deal.
They looked a lot better now that Ryan had brought all these people.
"We're all family, so it's fine!" Ryan chuckled.
Seeing that, Richard was pleased as well, beaming, "Thanks to Ryan, we're looking a lot better off now!"
Seeing the commotion over at Richard's table, Tracy suddenly felt a bit down.
When Baron had come over with tea leaves worth tens of millions, Richard wouldn't even look at him. But Ryan's feigned niceties were making Richard that happy. Tracy didn't care about her own estrangement, but she wanted to stand up for Baron.
Seeing Tracy's low mood, Baron took her hand and said gently, "I don't care about anything else but you and our daughter, Tracy!"
Hearing Baron's tender words - almost a confession - Tracy's heart thumped, and she glared deliberately at him.
Yuri looked at the happy family enviously while truly feeling happy for them.
At that moment, a middle-aged figure appeared in the banquet hall.
"Hell! That's Camel Ellis, the general manager of Kato Prosperity. What's he doing here?"
Ryan saw Camel at the door and asked, shocked.
Recalling his father's words that a bigshot was coming to the wedding today and to establish a good relationship with them - was Camel that bigshot?
Peter hadn't seen Camel before, but hearing the name, he knew that Kato Prosperity was the largest enterprise in Kato.
"Shit! Don't tell me the man at the door is Camel?"
Peter's face was dull.
"Stop chin-wagging here, then, hurry up and greet him!"
Ryan hastily made his way over to Camel.
"Hello, Mr. Ellis!"
Ryan came up in front of Camel and humbled himself, stooping low.
"And you are?"
Camel frowned.
"I'm the general manager of the Harmony Group, Ryan Jackson!"
"And I'm Peter Zouch. This is a wedding for my son Wilkes. I didn't think Mr. Ellis would be able to personally attend. This is a great honor for my family. Please come inside!"
Ryan and Peter said in turn, excitement on their faces.
Kato Prosperity was a trendsetting industry on par with the Maguires and the Woods. It was said that there was some great figure behind them, the same figure behind Camel who'd extinguished the Porter family, the original owners of Kato Prosperity.
The respect Ryan and Peter had for Camel was evident.
"Fuck off!"
Camel heard their names and thundered coldly, "What makes you think I'd come to the wedding of a family of pissants?"¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶
