Chapter 233 Tracy Loses It
The moment Amber said that, Tracy's face darkened.
If it had been yesterday, she might not have had such a big reaction, but last night, everything that Marry had done had disappointed her utterly in this family.
From when they'd arrived at the Zouch home yesterday to the wedding ceremony today, Amber wanted to insult them to their face.
Tracy found it all intolerable.
"You've got no right to judge my husband's character. Even if he was living off me, what's that got to do with you?"
Tracy said calmly, continuing, "If I remember things correctly, you borrowed three hundred thousand from me four years ago, right?
"Along with the two hundred thousand my mother lent you behind our backs.
"It's been four years, but you haven't returned one cent of that money. The bracelet you're wearing is worth fifty thousand, isn't it? You can't be pressed for money. Can we have the five hundred thousand back now? Of course, since we're relatives, it's free of interest."
The things Amber had said about Yuri and Baron had already attracted everyone's attention.
Now, Tracy was imitating Amber and deliberately raising her voice. In the large banquet hall, everyone heard her words.
No one had expected Tracy to suddenly bring up old debts in a scene like this.
Usually, in the eyes of the Zouch family, Tracy was a mild-mannered woman, who'd never actively asked for money back after she lent it.
Today was a great occasion for the Zouches, and guests were everywhere.
Asking for her debt back right now, Tracy was caring nothing for Amber's reputation.
Even Baron was surprised, but seeing Tracy's change, he was still happy for her.
"What - what are you babbling about?"
Amber panicked, protesting, "When have I ever taken three hundred thousand from you? And when have I borrowed money from you mother?"
"Tracy, this is a big day for your cousin. How about you cut us some slack on me?"
Peter murmured, having made his way next to Tracy.
Tracy didn't cut any slack at all, saying mildly. "I almost forgot about you, dear uncle. Thanks for speaking up. The two mansions in the Zouch courtyard were built with my mother's money. The one for Granddad and Grandma, we'll treat it as a bit of filial piety, but your mansion cost about a million or so to begin with. Now that you're living the life with six, seven hundred-thousand-dollar cars, you're probably not pressed for that one million, right? How about you return that too?"
What a turn!
Tracy had asked to collect her debt from Amber, now she was collecting on Peter as well. Every Zouch family member was shocked.
Was this the same Tracy who shut up and took it?
"Bullshit!
"I built those two mansions with my own money, what's that got to do with your mother?
"Come on out and explain, Sherry!"
A humiliated Peter spun to Sherry and yelled.
Terry had already brought this up at the Zouch household yesterday, but only to the Zouches.
But today, with friends and relatives on the scene, Tracy had spilled the beans on all this. This was scandalous for the Zouch family.
"That's enough, Tracy!"
Sherry said fearfully.
Tracy laughed self-deprecatingly. "What? You don't even have the courage to admit your own mistake in front of a crowd?"
"I'm begging you, when we're done with the wedding, let's discuss this together, okay?"
Sherry's tone was pleading, but her pupils were cold.
"You did so many disgusting things behind our back, and you've got the nerve to make demands?" Tracy raged.
Sherry didn't say anything. There were still some goals she hadn't accomplished, so she had to put up with it for now.
"I know I've done wrong, and I promise you. When the wedding's over, we'll find your aunt and uncle and talk about this."
Sherry lowered her voice, eyes reddening. "Look around you. The guests are enjoying the show. It's your cousin's wedding. Do you really want to make a fool of us like this?" Tracy's own eyes were bloodshot. If she hadn't been forced to this stage, would she have gone this far?
She scanned the area and saw mockery and contempt on many people's faces.
Finally, she relented. "Fine. We'll talk about this after the wedding!"
"Sis..."
Yuri was just about to speak when Baron said, "Let's leave it at that, Yuri!"
To Yuri, Baron's word meant more than anyone else's. She swallowed her unspoken words.
Baron felt a twinge of sorrow. He'd thought that just by dressing up a bit, he could salvage Tracy's reputation. He didn't think that the Zouch family still wouldn't let go of a chance to humiliate them. "Fine, I'll listen to you."
Yuri said sarcastically. "Can't be as thuggish as some other people."
"You bitch, who are you calling a thug?"
Hearing Yuri's words, Amber flew into a rage, standing bolt upright and shouting at her.
"And who are you calling a bitch?"
Yuri shot back fearlessly, "I'm letting things go because you're my aunt, but don't you go too far!"
"Do you still bother with respect for your aunt?"
Amber yelled. "You think you're so great, don't you? If you hadn't sold your own body for it, could you have become general manager of the Brone Group?"
"What nonsense is this, Amber?"
Yuri was in disbelief that her own aunt would talk about her like this.
"What? Scared to own up to it? Ask everyone here, what qualifications do you have as a girl fresh out of college to get to the position of Brone general manager? What do you have other than your body?" Amber insulted Yuri in public.
Everyone was shocked, their gazes towards Yuri changing. They clearly believed what Amber was saying.
"And you, you bitch, are you this greedy? I owe your family five hundred thousand? Why don't you just make it five million?"
Amber turned to Tracy after she was done with Yuri.
Baron's expression grew cold. It was fine to insult him, but no one could insult his wife!
Tracy was angry, but held her tongue as Amber fired away.
When Amber stopped talking, Tracy said coldly, "Are you done? If we're done, we'll discuss your debt right now!"
At that, a middle-aged woman in formal dress walked up next to Tracy and looked at Amber. "Hello. I'm Ada, with the Morningstar Law Firm. Our firm's been requested by Ms. Tracy to handle the matter of Ms. Amber Zouch defaulting on her loan. This here is a lawyer's letter."
Following that, the lawyer listed off Amber's failures to pay her debt as well as the consequences of her default.
Up until this moment, Amber finally realized that Tracy meant business.
"Come now, dear aunt. Do you really think that you can shake loose a debt just by denying it? Don't forget, you wrote a promissory note when I first lent you the money. Besides, the credit card my mother gave you is managed by me, and I have all the transfer records.
Tracy said coldly.
