Chapter 220 A Pretty Trophy
Then it was very quiet in the room, for that was an awkward situation indeed.
Hardon turned all red and embarrassed. In order to show off his noble birth, he often deceived others under the guise of Martin Brook's friend. He didn't expect he could meet Martin one day!
All turned to look at him and tried not to laugh, except Hardon's companions. Each of them turned a deathly shade of white when they saw Martin. Especially, behind Martin, their father stood respectfully. Marry's face went very pale, and could not stop her whole-body trembling.
Todd ranged over them one by one. Then his eyes fell upon Hardon, banging his steel pipe on a table. "You told everyone that you are a platinum member of this place, right? Tell me again! Who gave you the membership card?"
Hardon's cheeks seemed to be on fire. He could not speak a word for a long moment. He was getting too scared. Todd was the son of Martin. He couldn't afford to upset him. If he said something wrong, the Maguire family would get a bigger trouble.
Todd seemed impatient. He raised his steel pipe as high up as he could and pounded it down so hard that the glass table was broken into pieces. Everyone was quite shocked by the tremendous cracking sound.
"Fuck! Tell me right now!" Todd shouted.
Hardon looked horrified. His face became very white and his entire body began shaking. He rushed to Martin and suddenly fell on his knees. "I was wrong. I'm sorry, Mr. Brook! I lied to everyone that you gave me the platinum membership card. I'm a big liar. My card is fake and I've never used it," Hardon said in a trembling voice. He could feel cold sweat trickling down his face.
Martin glared at him angrily and kicked him in a sudden fury. "You fucking asshole! How dare you show off using my name? Even your grandfather, Tom, couldn't have the balls to do it!"
"I know, I know what I did was wrong. I won't make the same mistake again, Mr. Brook! I promise!" Hardon said and the tears ran down his face.
Hardon appeared genuinely fearful. Martin was infamous for his brutal, cruel and inhumane patterns. Especially, his Brook family was growing quickly with the support of the Henderson family. Unfortunately, Hardon angered such a tough guy. Most likely, he would face serious consequences.
"Call your grandfather. He must be here in ten minutes, or you will end up in a body bag!" Martin said menacingly.
Hardon nodded eagerly and took out his phone with trembling hands. Soon he got his grandfather Tom on the phone.
Martin looked at Hardon coldly as the call meant a lot to him. His Brook family was powerful in Jako, but he was not satisfied with it. He was planning to get a broader market in Kato. That was the purpose of his trip in Kato.
To his delight, while he was struggling to find a way to take over the market of the Maguire family and the Woods family, he got a chance unexpectedly! Hardon hurt his son, so he had a good reason for demanding compensations.
"Go on, Todd! Whoever hit you will pay the price!" Martin said.
After hearing this, a hint of a sneer broke on Todd's lips. He walked towards another man, with the steel pipe in his hand.
It didn't take long for Todd to revenge. Half an hour later, a dozen men were lying on the ground, moaning. There was blood everywhere. Each of them broke an arm or a leg by Todd.
He didn't break their all four limbs. So, he was merciful this time, as Martin had taught him. He had made some sort of bloody lesson out of the first man. There was no need to completely offend the big families in Kato.
The blood and the screaming scared Hardon to death. He slumped hopelessly on the floor.
But Baron still sat quietly. Todd walked up to him and looked at him with contempt. "Now it is your turn, man!"
Baron glanced at him. "I think you're confused. I'm not in it with these guys. And I'm not involved in the fight," he said indifferently,
Todd's face darkened with anger. But when he raised his weapon, an old man rushed in. He was Tom.
"I'm very glad to meet you, Mr. Brook! When did you get to Kato? Sorry, I didn't realize you were here. I should have visited you earlier," Tom greeted Martin with a smile. He didn't even look at Hardon. Martin regarded him coldly and sneered, "I know you're too busy, Mr. Maguire! Okay, back to business. Do you know why I called you here?"
Tom shook his head. He knew Hardon had offended Martin, but knew nothing about the details. Martin would not let up until he got what he wanted. Tom had realized that.
Tom looked back at Hardon, who was still shivering, hardly daring to move. A wave of anger came over him.
"Come here, you little shit!" he shouted to Hardon.
Hardon's heart skipped a beat. He struggled up from the floor and ran up to Tom. Tom glanced at him and gave him a hard kick. "Kneel down!" he shouted.
Hardon was too scared to speak and knelt in front of Tom.
"Kneel to Mr. Brook! you stupid fool!" Tom said anxiously. Then he turned to Martin and managed a smile. "You get him now, Mr. Brook! If he did something wrong, do as you like with him!" After hearing this, Hardon stared at his grandfather in disbelief. “Grandpa! Help me!" he begged.
Hardon was not the only one who was shocked by the words. In fact, everyone was taken aback, including Martin.
Martin studied the old man in front of him. He had to admit that Tom was very cunning. Tom wanted to sacrifice Hardon to keep the entire Maguire family out of trouble.
After a little silence, Martin spoke again, "Never mind. It's not a big deal. I've always admired you, Mr. Maguire. So, I am going to let that pass, for you!"
Tom kicked Hardon again. "You bastard! Thank Mr. Brook right now!" he roared with anger on his face but joy in his heart.
Hardon appeared to come to life again. "Thank you, Mr. Brook! Thank you so much!" said Hardon, choking with emotion. Tom laughed and said, "Now, that's settled. Let's get down to business, Mr. Brook!" He acted like nothing had happened. "What business? I don't understand what you mean," Martin asked.
"I think we should discuss a partnership between our families," said Tom in hushed tones.
Martin showed great interest in what Tom said. He burst into a hearty laugh and said, "That's great. Let's discuss it in the next room." Before he left, Martin looked around and told to Todd, "Take care of this!"
"You stay here, Hardon! Do as Todd asks," Tom said.
Hardon nodded quickly. He was happy he had a narrow escape. He decided to cherish this opportunity to warm relations up with Todd.
He stepped up to Todd and apologized, "Sorry, Todd. I was wrong to treat you that way. Please forgive my impertinence."
Todd had understood his father's hint. His Brook family and the Maguire family should be on the same side. So, he laughed and put an arm around Hardon's shoulders. "Don't worry. You see that? My father and your grandfather are friends now. Let's put the past in the past. We are buddies now!"
Hardon's companions, who had been broken an arm or a leg by Todd, stared sullenly at Hardon. Owing to Hardon's recklessness, they were disabled. But the ridiculous thing was, Hardon and his enemy became good friends!
Baron watched all this. He did not dream that things got really crazy. He didn't want to stay here anymore. "Let's leave, Tracy!" Baron said. He got up and headed for the door with Tracy. "Stop!" said a voice behind him.
Baron looked back and found the owner of the voice was Hardon. "What's up?" he asked, frowning.
Hardon thought everything that had happened to him was because of Baron. A stab of hate shot through him at the thought.
He made no reply to Baron's question. Instead, he turned to Todd with a smile. "Do you think she's pretty, Todd?" he said and pointed to Tracy.
Todd's eyes lit up when he looked carefully at Tracy. He licked his lips and said, "Fantastic!"
Hardon was satisfied by Todd's responses. He laughed and said, "You're right. She is so beautiful. Get rid of her husband and she would be your trophy! Don't worry, the guy is a loser and I'll help you!" "That's good! Thank you, good buddy!" Todd laughed loudly and said excitedly. Then he pointed to Baron and said menacingly, "Fuck off!"0000☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
