Chapter 138 Susan’s Trick

Baron answered the phone.

"Hey! Baron! It's Susan!" Susan's voice came from the other end of the phone.

"What's going on?" asked Baron in some astonishment. He was not that familiar with her after all.

"I wondered if you might be free to have dinner with me," Susan said.

"I am busy," Baron refused without hesitation.

"I know you're a busy man, Baron! But Tracy has already agreed to this! I am going to thank you for saving my life, so you must come with Tracy, OK?" Susan continued.

"OK. When and where? I'll be on time!" Baron said.

"I'll text it to you!" Susan said and hung up.

After a while, Baron got Susan's message. They would meet up at the McGill Restaurant an hour later.

Baron looked at his watch and stopped what he was doing. It was nearly about time. He stood up and was getting ready to head out to the McGill Restaurant.

After Baron promised to have dinner with her, Susan gave a gleeful yell of laughter. But for a moment, her smile faded. She had been looking forward to going out with Baron, just her and Baron, without Tracy! Susan thought for a minute, and a ghost of a smile touched her lips. She got her mobile phone out and dialed a number. "I've got an assignment for you. You need to go to Samho and discuss the partnership with Tracy. Do that right now!"

But Tracy didn't know anything about what Susan had done. She looked at her clock and found it was time to head for the McGill Restaurant.

At this very moment, her secretary came in. "Ms. Perry, the Wave Technology called, said its General Manager, Mr. Brook is on his way to our company. He will discuss the partnership with you."

"It's dinner time. Maybe Mr. Brook has some sort of emergency," Tracy said, confused. She knew the Wave Technology belonged to the Lewis family. But she never thought Susan arranged all of this. "Yes. Mr. Brook will travel on business a few hours later. He managed to find time to discuss the partnership with Samho before leaving," Tracy's secretary said.

Tracy nodded her head and said, "Oh, okay. I get it. In that case, Mr. Brook doesn't have much time. All right, call the restaurant and make a reservation! We will discuss it over dinner." "OK." Tracy's secretary said and left.

Tracy couldn't be able to keep the appointment, so she picked up her phone and called Susan. "Sorry, Susan! I'd love to have dinner with you, but I can't. Something happened and I still have work to do." "What a pity! But that's okay. It sounds like you're really busy. I will call the McGill Restaurant and cancel the reservation," said Susan deliberately.

"Wait! Wait! No need to cancel. You can eat with Baron! Besides, you are going to thank him, and it doesn't matter whether I go or not," Tracy said.

"Fine. Be that way. I will have dinner with Baron! And I'll see you this weekend," said Susan, smiling.

Her plan was working. No one would bother her and Baron at all. Her face broke into a radiant smile at the thought.

After dressing herself with scrupulous care, Susan drove to the McGill Restaurant.

When Baron arrived, Susan had been waiting for a long time. She stood up and said, "Ah, here you are, Baron. Have a seat."

Baron glanced at her and found her get dressed up for this dinner. She was tall and pretty. She got big, beautiful eyes, long-lashed eyelids, a straight nose and red lips.

Baron's eyes flitted over her and looked around. "Why hasn't Tracy come yet?" Baron asked.

"I just received a call from Tracy. Something came up and she had to take care of it. So, she's not coming," Susan said with a smile.

Baron had not a moment's doubt. Tracy was the general manager of Samho, so she got a lot to do.

When Baron sat down at the table, Susan passed him a menu. "The McGill Restaurant is very famous. You will like it. Well, let's order something to eat. What are you in the mood for? I have ordered a few dishes. Take a look!"

Baron glanced at the menu and said, "OK, that's enough!"

Susan nodded and said to the waiter, "Well, that's it!"

After the waiter left, there was a total silence in the box. Baron did not have favorable feelings for Susan. If it weren't for Tracy, he wouldn't be here. Baron uttered not a word and bowed to use his mobile phone.

Susan tried to lighten the mood. She smiled, "You are always staring at your phone. I'm betting you are not really good at talking to a pretty girl, right?

"It is kind of boring. Playing on the phone could make time go faster," Baron said, but he did not look up from his phone.

Susan rolled her eyes and said, "Boring? No kidding? Okay, just keep your eyes on me. I'm a beautiful lady! Look at me and you won't be bored!"

"I have little interest in women, except Tracy," Baron said honestly.

"Oh, all right," Susan said awkwardly.

And then, an awkward silence stretched between them.

Thankfully, at this moment the food was delivered.

Susan poured a couple of drinks and handed one to Baron. She lifted her glass and said, "Thank you for saving my life, Baron!"

Baron pushed his glass away gently and took a glass of water from the table. He drank a mouthful of water and said, "For the sake of safety, I can't drink because I have to drive later."

During the dinner, Baron was concentrating on his plate without a word. Susan realized that Baron didn't want to talk to her, so, she got quite disappointed.

Baron didn't raise his head until he was full. It was only then Baron found that Susan wasn't eating anything at all. Instead, she drank the whole liquor bottle.

Susan drank overmuch and her face was bright red. "I'm full, Baron," she smiled.

Baron knew Susan was drunk. He stood up and said, "Well, let's go then."

"OK!" Susan said and came lurching to her feet. but suddenly she lost her balance and nearly fell into Baron's arms.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
