Chapter 238
Chapter 238 Who Is Ms. Norman?
The marriage between Julia and Larry was decided many years ago, but it was only in the past two years that their elders wanted Larry to get engaged to Julia.
Although they were engaged, they did not live together but lived their own lives.
However, once Larry wanted to end this marriage, it was no longer just between the two, but between two families.
Benjamin took a sip of milk and looked deeply at Larry. "I hope you're making this decision not out of guilt and not out of pity for Annie. Neither you nor Annie will accept it." While they were chatting, Harper woke up.
She glanced at the blanket covering her body, showing no expression. She lifted the blanket and got up from the sofa. She asked the maid for the location of the bathroom and went to freshen up. She looked at herself in the mirror, with heavy dark circles under her eyes, a tired complexion, and a weary appearance.
Harper finished washing up and walked out of the bathroom when suddenly there was a discussion in the quiet hallway. "I heard that Ms. Jones was taken away by a pervert. Do you think anything bad will happen to her?"
"Speak softly, don't let Mr. Ellison hear it."
"I wonder what Ms. Norman said to Ms. Jones yesterday. Why would Ms. Jones rather jump off in such a rain? How is she doing now?"
Harper clearly heard the discussion between the two maids.
She squinted her eyes, a murderous intent rising within her.
She walked towards the direction of the sound and saw the maids gossiping at the corner of the hallway. The maids froze and then hurriedly tried to leave.
Harper asked, "Who is Ms. Norman?"
The two maids looked at each other and dared not speak.
She added, "You say it yourselves, or should I have Larry come over and ask you?"
One of the maids hesitated and said, "Ms. Norman is Mr. Ellison's fiancée, Julia Norman."
Harper's eyes were sharp as she asked, "Did she come here yesterday looking for Ms. Jones?"
"Mrs. Martin, please stop asking. If you ask more, we will lose this job."
"Don't worry, I won't tell Larry that you told me. But if you don't tell the truth, I'll tell Larry."
Harper's expression was cold, but her tone and words were somewhat intimidating.
The two maids glanced at each other and responded, "Ms. Norman suddenly appeared and said she came to fetch Mr. Ellison's file. So we didn't think much about it. As for what she said to Ms. Jones... We only vaguely heard some arguing, but we couldn't make out the content, so..."
"Okay, I got it. Go ahead and busy yourselves!"
Harper knew Annie very well. Although she appeared strong on the surface, she was actually very fragile inside and could easily shatter with just a little blow.
Annie's sensitive nature was likely a result of her upbringing, and it was something that would not change throughout her life.
So she acted lively and bold, making herself appear strong like an impregnable fortress, but in reality, she was not at all.
Harper felt worse the more he thought about it.
She buried her head and walked out without stopping. At the entrance she took away Benjamin's car keys. The two men in the dining half only knew that Harper had left when they
Krd the sound of the engine.
Benjamin immediately got up and went outside, asking the maid who was sweeping in the yard, "What's going on?"
