Chapter 177
Chapter 177 His Birthday
Harper thought, "Did he tell me that himself? Well, no."
Harper pressed her lips together lightly in silence.
She thought, "But what's the difference between what Benjamin did and telling me himself?"
Annie seemed to read her mind and said, "Harper, haven't you always believed in what you see and hear? Have you lost your judgment and reason just because he's Benjamin?"
Harper stared blankly at Annie, blinking softly, and her eyes were a little confused.
But she already had the answer in her mind.
She smiled, "I got it."
"Okay. So where are we going now?"
"Come on. I'll take you to dinner."
Harper opened the navigation and typed in the name of a restaurant, and Annie drove straight there.
The restaurant Harper booked today was the Silver, a very upscale restaurant in Mayby with extremely classic dishes. As for the flavor, even Benjamin, who was quite picky, was satisfied. Harper asked for a small private room, which had been reserved on her cell phone this morning, and ordered the signature dishes.
The two ate and talked, and the meal took nearly two hours.
When they finished eating, Harper went outside to pay the bill, and Annie didn't insist on splitting the bill with her. However, Harper ran into Larry in the hallway just as she walked out. She offered a greeting. "What a coincidence!"
"Yes!" Larry waved back and spoke to a man beside him before walking over to Harper. "Is it convenient for you to talk to me for a moment?"
Harper froze slightly. "Yes."
Then, the two headed outside. Larry asked, "Did you come to dinner with your friends?"
"Yeah. My best friend came over from another city, and I'm taking her to try the food over here."
"Pretty good," Larry just smiled lightly. They walked to the small balcony at the end of the corridor before he said, "There are a couple days left until Benjamin's birthday. Why don't I arrange his birthday this year? I'll book the venue at a resort in the suburbs, with good air and not too far from the city. How about that?"
Larry earnestly stated his arrangements and ideas and watched Harper as he finished, waiting for her response.
His respect made Harper feel a little pressured. She said calmly, "Pretty good. I think Benjamin will be happy."
"Since you think it's okay, it's settled
for now? If you have any other ideas, let me know at any time. I'm
arranging it this time mainly because I think you're all busy, and I've been quite free lately, so can just arrange it for you."
Harper nodded with a smile.
Larry looked at her and asked, "Harper, you'll be there, won't you?"
Harper froze for a moment, meeting Larry's eyes. "I..."
In fact, based on her relationship with Benjamin these days, it didn't seem right for her to be there or not.
However, she had planned for the birthday present early on, as it was probably their last birthday as a couple.
Harper had thought Benjamin would
be reluctant to spend his birthday, perhaps just going back to the Martin Manor for dinner. She wouldn't feel uncomfortable with Paul Scott, and Lily around. As for the gift, she wouldn't think there was anything to misunderstand.
It was his birthday, after all.
But now Larry said they were going to the resort together for Benjamin's birthday. Logically, they were still a couple, and she was supposed to be there, but... Harper pressed her lips together slightly and asked Larry, "Will you guys be uncomfortable if I were there?"
