I Kissed A CEO And He Liked It!

Chapter 14: A Date?

The restaurant by the harbor had a perfect view of the docking boats, the gleaming bay, and night skies.

It was located on the 30th floor of a commercial complex, sitting a block away from the docks.

Many guests were in line to have dinner at the said restaurant, but Kyle, being the CEO of the franchise, was assisted through a secluded area, offering a perfect and romantic view of the bay.

And to further ensure their privacy, all the surrounding tables were emptied, just for Kyle and Gabriel's supposed test dinner.

So far, the experience left Gabrielle impressed, feeling like she was on an actual date.

"Wow, the lobster looks so delicious!" While Gabrielle expressed excitement about that evening's main dish at the back of her head, she was truly worried.

Warren rarely took her to a fine dining restaurant, and she absolutely had not experienced eating a lobster with a knife and a fork!

So far, she managed through the starter meal and soup dish, but she was utterly concerned about making a mess while eating the dish.

"But... didn't I order a steak?" She asked, with her brows drawn together.

Kyle studied her expression before he revealed, "Um, we are here to test the food, so we are going to try at least two main dishes." He pointed his hand at the shellfish and said, "I took the liberty of ordering the lobster for you."

"Oh," she said, before forcing a smile.

"Don't you like lobsters?" Kyle asked while maintaining to stare at her. "This is one of my mother's specialties."

It was earlier that Kyle had told Gabrielle of how his mother managed most of the restaurants, being the previous head chef before finally handing over the throne to someone else. Hearing him say the dish was a specialty his mother came up with, she could not pass on the lobster.

Gabrielle nodded and laughed before she admitted, "I do... I like lobsters... It's just that... I don't know how to eat them with a fork! Haha... I usually use my hands."

The corner of Kyle's lips curved up. He did not answer, but first, cut through his own plate of lobster. He said, "Let me help you then."

After completely detaching the meat from the lobster's tale and slicing them into pieces, he returned his gaze to Gabrielle and exchanged her plate with his. "The claws are already cracked open. There, all you need to do... is to eat."

At that very moment, Gabrielle seemed to have heard heavenly music engulf her. Her surroundings blurred, except for the handsome man before her.

The CEO of the Wright Diamond Corporation had just sliced her seafood, ready for her to chow down.

'Oh, my goodness! This guy... Why is he treating me so nicely?' She asked herself in silence. Quietly, Gabrielle resumed her meal, taking some time to think about her recent circumstance.

First, she seemed to have gotten the job so easily. Second, Kyle, a CEO of the biggest company in the city, is treating her so well. So well that she seemed to be having a dinner date with him! Recalling how the front desk supervisor suggested Kyle was not comfortable around women, she turned her attention back to Kyle and asked, "Ummm... Kyle... are you... always this nice to women?" She turned bright red before she bowed her head. Still, she resumed, "It's just that... I have never been around someone such a gentleman as you. Haha! Not that I am complaining... It's just really surprising." For a second, Kyle just gazed into her hazel eyes without a word, but soon he wiped his mouth with the table napkin and said, "I choose who I am easy with and who I am nice to."

"So far, you are the fifth woman who I am comfortable with and show respect," Kyle added.

'Fifth woman,' Gabrielle reflected on his words.

She wasn't sure if she should cherish that fact. While she convinced herself that she should, given the odds, but knowing there were four other women out there that he shows a great deal of care for, it made her feel not so special after all.

Still, she smiled and said, "Well, I feel honored. Thank you, Kyle."

'What am I even thinking?' She silently scolded herself before drinking her wine.

The next few minutes went by swiftly, with Kyle and Gabrielle exchanging a few words now and then.

From disappointment, Gabrielle's emotions shifted to delight, especially with the desserts presented.

She eagerly finished a unique flavored sorbet, chocolate almond mousse cake, and a stick of sweet rice balls. Having a sweet tooth, Gabrielle completely forgot her recent discontent. Gabrielle ate without hold, giving Kyle beaming smiles, and twinkling eyes in each bite she took.

When she finished all of her sweets, she took a deep breath and said to Kyle, "This is the best! Thank you, Kyle, for bringing me to check the restaurant's dishes! If this were a date, you get a hundred points! Haha!"

***

Kyle was adoring Gabrielle's cute smiles, her exquisite frame, the way the dress he bought had fit her well, and her earlier adorable dismay when he told her she was the fifth woman he ever showed care for. He was recording in his mind her every bite to the sorbet and how her lips glistened in the moisture of it. In fact, every time Gabrielle put a spoonful of dessert into her mouth, Kyle secretly wanted to kiss her right then and there.

This was just the first day, and yet Kyle was confident that he was winning her heart.

Just when Kyle was secretly amusing in his achievement, Gabrielle pointed out how he would have gotten a hundred points if this were a formal date!

The smile on his face easily faded, and it was replaced with a grimace.

He cleared his throat and asked, "So... how many points did I actually merit?" His eyes narrowed before he resumed his words, "Since this is... not... a date?"

Kyle saw how Gabrielle flushed again. He sensed her hesitation when she answered, "Ummm... Ninety?"

The frown still reflected on his face. He leaned back in his seat and fixed his coat before revealing, "You know, Gaby. Not that I am after the points, but I've always been an overachiever. Since you scored me, am not settling for any less."

He moved closer, looking deep into Gabrielle's eyes, and proposed, "Why don't you... consider this as a date?"
