His Lethal Love

Chapter 76

Camille POV.

"I promised him, Conan," I groaned when he gripped my wrist and wouldn't release it.

"I don't want you sleeping with him," Conan said bitterly. There was a flicker of insecurity in his eyes. "I love you, Cam. I was crazy that time when I told you about fulfilling his demand but I never wanted this to happen." When I saw him sad, my heart ached. He hugged me tightly as I threw myself into his arms. "I'm sorry for putting you into this."

Taking deep breaths, he caressed my hair lovingly. I could listen to his faint heartbeat. "It wasn't your fault, Cami, as I told you before. But what hurts me is..." He paused for a moment. "Leaving you with that monster."

I swallowed hard as a shiver passed down my spine. I shook violently at the thought of sleeping with Scott. I couldn't think of anyone else near me but Conan. My grip on his body grew even tighter. "There's no way I can break my promise, Conan. I can't believe him. If I don't comply with his demands, he might harm me, my daughter, and you."

I felt his arms loosen around me as he let me go. Seeing his expression made my heart twitch.

"I am incapable of being a father. I can't do anything when Colette needs me more," he said coldly. "I let you have sex with that bastard..."

"I haven't slept with him yet," I interrupted him.

His expression hardened as he said nothing. I unlocked the door and dragged myself out of his car. I said goodbye to him but he didn't reply to me and started the engine before driving away at full speed. I glanced at Scott's penthouse at the top of the building and a wave of sadness crawled through my chest.

I used his private elevator to ride. Once the elevator opened my heart slammed against my chest. I looked at the empty living room. I stepped into the kitchen to get a glass of water and winced at the sight of a counter which was stacked with empty bottles of alcohol. I wondered if he had consumed all of these bottles in the last twenty hours. I frowned when I noticed glass chunks spilling over the floor. Heading over to his room I peeked inside but no one was in sight.

I turned around, marching into his library. He was sitting in the same chair with a glass of fine wine. His eyes focused on the fireplace as he watched it without a blink, it seemed like he was thinking something very deeply. I turned around and moved out but he stopped me with his voice. "I have been waiting for you since yesterday," he said and I squeezed my hands into fists.

"I was with Colette. She needed me."

He stayed silent.

"She's getting better." I cleared my throat, feeling a hint of guilt when I realized I didn't let him meet her.

"I know..." His voice was husky, barely audible.

I turned around to see him but he was still staring at the fire. I couldn't see his face since his back was facing me. The doctor informed me Scott had arranged everything in advance as if he knew about Colette's health condition. I wondered how? In just a short time he knew everything about me and my family. And I had been stalking him for the past four years but still, there were a lot of things I had yet to know about him.

"Do you remember our promise?" He asked, making my blood run cold.

"I'm exhausted!" I spat and turned around to leave but suddenly the door of the library shut swiftly. "What the heck..." I lost my voice when I saw Scott advancing on me.

"This time I'll take what I have been promised, sweetheart." He smirked and threw a small remote on the couch.

"Are you for real?" I let out a shaky laugh, stepping away from him. "I'm not ready for this..."

He put his finger on my mouth, shutting me, "Shh! I'm not fond of listening to 'no' babe." I swallowed thickly when his eyes grazed my entire body, making me feel naked. "You're mine for six months." He stroked my face with the back of his hand but I shoved him away.

"Don't touch me!" I growled. "Don't you dare to touch me, you dirty bastard!" He winced at my words. "What do you think I let you have me after everything you put me through? You killed my brother, you tried to kill me..." My eyes filled with tears as my chin was shaking. "I loved you, Scott. I loved you wholeheartedly despite everything you did to me but what did you do?!" I thrust my finger into his chest. "Tell me what did you do, huh? You crushed my love, trust, and dignity under your shoe. You made me regret every moment I spent with you. You're a liar! You're fucking liar! You know how to suck the life out of people. You took my spirit away from me, Scott. You fucking threw me out of your fucking life when I needed you the most."

"Camille..." He tried to touch my shoulder but I stepped away from him, shaking my head.

"You kicked me out of your life like I was nothing. I was pregnant with your child, Scott! I was dying fucking bed but you never came to see me once. You never tried to look for me."

"Camille..." His voice cracked as one teardrop broke through his eyes.

"You make me feel sick, Scott!"

He shook his head, dropping to his knees. "If I beg you to stay, will you stay?"

I looked away, biting into my lower lip and trying to stay strong. It took me a while to say, "No!"

He released a sharp breath. His back rose and fell rapidly. "I need you, Cam. I so fucking need you."

Ignoring his begs I reached out the remote and opened the door of the library before leaving him. I entered his room and closed the door behind me before pressing my back against the door and breathing heavily. I closed my eyes, listening to my pulsating heartbeats. I was shaking to my core. His voice kept ringing in my ears. I dashed into the bathroom and splashed cold water on my face, looking at myself in the mirror. I was appearing different. Raising my hand I touched my face. "It's not me," I whispered. "It's not me." I was looking vicious in the mirror. "Look what made me do, Scott. You made me a cold-hearted bitch."

I stepped out and ripped my dress before putting on a robe. I lay on his bed, smelling his masculine scent on the sheet. I could practically feel him close to me. I still liked his smell. His strong and musky smell. It brought back every memory he had given me, whether it was good or bad. I couldn't forget Scott Martinez even when I wanted to.

**********

The sunlight rays hit my face, making my eyes squint. I sat down, looking across the empty room. There was no noise from outside. After taking a bath I put on denim jeans with a pullover top. I made my hair into a ponytail and got out. Scott was not there. I glanced at the clock and noticed I had been sleeping for ten hours because it was one in the afternoon. My phone was switched off and I forgot to put it on charge. I groaned when I felt a faint headache due to oversleeping. Stepping into the kitchen I hunted for food. Scott's refrigerator is stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables. I took out bread and started to make a sandwich. I put a lot of cheese in my sandwich and kept Scott's simple as he didn't like cheese. He mostly prefers veggies so I made his favorite sandwich.

I didn't know why I was doing this but I listened to my heart and did it for him. I glanced at the library but there was no moment there. While taking a big bite of my sandwich I headed to the library. A frown crease between my brows when I found it empty. He must have left for work or a meeting.

After charging my phone I gave a call to Conan to pick me up from Scott's place. I needed to see my baby girl first. The doctor said they needed to keep her for a couple of weeks before they would discharge her. A smile appeared on my face when her face flashed in my head. She was getting well.

Conan picked me up ten minutes later.

"Hey," I greeted him while sitting in his car.

"Hey," he forced a smile.

"I didn't sleep with him," I said without looking at him.

I heard him releasing a sigh. "Thanks."

"For what?" I snapped my head at him with a frown.

"For hurting him." He smirked and started driving.

"Yeah." I smiled at him back and said nothing.

"I talked to the doctor in the morning and he told me Colette is doing well. She is a brave child and quite social with their staff. Her nurses are happily looking after her." "She is like you, Conan."

"But she is more like Scott," Conan said quietly and my heart sank. "The doctors said that."

"What do they know about him?" My jaw clenched harder. "Nothing! They know nothing about him."

After a while, we reached the hospital. I was sitting next to Colette's bed, her fingers intertwined with mine.

"Hey, Cookie..." Conan pinched her nose lovingly. "How're you feeling?"

"Super good!" Colette chirped excitedly. "I missed you two."

"Aw, my baby girl." I stood up and pressed her head against my chest. "We missed you too, honey." I kissed her head.

"When will I be freed from this hospital bed, Mum?"

"Just in a few days." I smiled and stroked her brown hair. "Then we'll go on a long vacation."

"Really?" She looked up at me with a wide smile.

"My favorite place is Blue World where Colbey is living." I rolled my eyes. Again she talked about Scott. There was not a single day she didn't talk about him. "I want to meet him. Rika told me he would visit me but he didn't come." "He won't come, baby," I said softly. "He must be busy with his work."

"But he promised me," she pouted sadly and my heart wrenched. I glanced at Conan and he gave me the same look. "I'm missing him, Mum. Can you please bring him here?"

"Colette..." I stopped speaking when I saw tears in her eyes. She was crying for Scott. God knows what things Rika filled in her head. Now, I truly hate her. I should ask the doctor to stop her from meeting my daughter. I was just ignoring her but it seemed like she was really challenging me. I didn't like the way Conan treated her yesterday. I wanted to apologize to her in his place but she didn't receive my call. I never thought Scott would also take away my dear friend and brainwash her.

"Okay fine!" I forced this out and walked out of the room. Fishing out my phone from my purse I punched Scott's contact and called him. He didn't answer as expected. I called him again but he didn't receive this call either. Defeated, I called Rika and she picked up two rings.

"Yes, this is Rika Cruz," she said, unfamiliar with my number.

"Rika..." I hesitated, clearing my throat. "This is Cara Davidson speaking."

"Oh, Miss Davidson, how can I help you?" I could hear a hint of bitterness in her voice.

"I want to talk to Scott."

"But this is my number, why are you calling me?" she said sarcastically.

"He's not receiving my call and you're his secretary."

"Okay, I'll make your appointment with him." She paused for a moment. "He'll be free next Thursday. Is this okay with you, ma'am? Should I finalize the meeting?"

"Colette wants to meet him?" I gritted my teeth out and she fell silent. "His daughter doesn't need an appointment to meet him."

"Colette is his daughter only when she wants to meet him. What about when Scott wanted to meet her yesterday?" she snapped. "I have never seen a woman as selfish as you, Camille. You're using him for your benefit. I never expected this from you, never! I can't believe you're my Camille. You've changed. You've fucking changed completely. And you know what, this change is eating you from within."

"What do you know about me?" My voice was thick with emotions.

"I know you, Camille. I have known you all my life, dammit." I heard her swallowing. "I don't know where Scott is because he didn't inform me of anything. I have been calling him for hours. Please, don't call me again." And she hung up.
