His Ex wife is a billionaire Chapter 639
Chapter 639
Cassius stood there, his face a mask of impassivity, but inside, a storm was brewing.
Since last night? Until now?
He hadn’t slept a wink, guarding the door to his room all through the night.
Just to see him?
As his thoughts settled, Cassius couldn’t help but curl his fingers into his palms.
“Cassius, did I do something wrong? Did I say something I shouldn’t have? Please, tell me.”
Chasel couldn’t bear the cold silence any longer. His voice trembled with urgency as he reached to grab Cassius’s hand.
But Cassius stepped back sharply, leaving Chasel grasping at air, a chill sweeping over him from head to toe.
“Cassius”
“Dr. Bright.”
Chasel’s pupils shook. “What did you just call me?”
“Dr. Bright”
Cassius’s voice was colder still, as if he had returned to his aloof demeanor as the untouchable heir of the Ashbourne family, “You’ve been through a lot these past days. My father’s condition has stabilized, and you’ve been in Skyrim for too long. You haven’t even been home to see your family. Maybe it’s time you did that.”
Chasel felt as though a bullet had gone straight through his chest, his hand freezing midair. “Did Aunt Suri say something to you?“ Cassius shook his head. “What does Suri have to do with this? You’re overthinking it.”
“Then why are you driving me away too?”
Chasel’s voice broke into a near sob, tears swirling in his eyes, “Cassius, I don’t want to go home. I don’t want to go abroad. I want to stay by your side forever. It doesn’t matter why, it doesn’t matter how, as long as I can be with you. I don’t need anything else! I just want you!”
Cassius’s eyes reddened, but his voice was unyielding, “Dr. Bright, if you wish to stay longer in Silverlake Harbor, to keep company to Suri, then by all means stay. However, starting tonight, I’ll be residing in Elmsworth for a while. The equestrian hotel project back home is about to start, and I’ll be very busy, perhaps away on business for an extended period. So, please, make yourself comfortable,”
With those words, Cassius turned and walked away, his determination as cold as ice.
Chasel rushed to him, embracing him tightly, tears strearning down his cheeks,
“Cassius, don’t you want me anymore?”
Cassius’s breath hitched, and his mouth opened slightly, but no words came out.
“Cassius, don’t reject me. I’ll do anything, just don’t ignore me, please.”
The once proud and rebellious second son of the Bright family was now begging in front of Cassius, devoid of all dignity, desperate only to hold onto the faint warmth that had captivated him.
“I never needed you, Dr. Bright. We never belonged to each other.”
Cassius, with his back turned, pierced through Chasel’s heart with his words, “You’re meant to be a free bird, with no need to forsake the vast forest for my sake. And I am not just the CEO of the K Group, but also a devout Christian. Neither my position nor my faith would ever allow me to be with you. Even if one day I marry and have children, it would not be with a man. Stop wasting your time on me.”
The heartless words flowed so easily.
Each one sharper than the last, like a series of gleaming daggers thrust into Chasel’s heart!
“Cassius, Chasel.”
At the sound of the call, both their hearts trembled violently!
Cassius felt a buzz in his head, his jaw clenched tight, as he forcibly pried Chasel’s hands from around his waist.
He took a deep breath and looked up, his mind in turmoil.

Chapter 639
Not far off, Suri stood calmly, as if she hadn’t seen their unusual closeness.
“Suri,” Cassius responded, his voice hoarse.
Suri gave a faint smile, then turned to Chasel, “Chasel, your brother has come to pick you up.”
Chasel felt as if he’d stepped into an abyss, his shoulders dropping heavily.
Evadne and Thaddeus entered the living room, hand in hand, to find a man sitting on the sofa. He was wearing an expensive brown suit, had a similar stature to Arnold and Cassius, and possessed an air of refined nobility.
The man checked his watch with an air of impatience, barely lifting his eyes.
Thaddeus furrowed his brow, finding the man unfamiliar and unable to place him.
The man glanced up at the sound of footsteps.
Upon seeing the renowned couple, his expression remained unchanged, not even bothering to stand.
Utter arrogance!
But it was Evadne who approached with poise, a gracious smile on her l*ps as she extended her hand.
“Mr. Bright, what a pleasure.”
Thaddeus stared at her, then back at the unfamiliar man.
Mr. Bright? Could he be?
“Heh, I never set foot in your esteemed territory, so it’s quite something that you remember who I am, Ms. Ashbourne.”
Warner Bright sneered at Evadne, crossing his arms defensively, giving no quarter, “But the Bright family has strict traditions, and anyone bearing our name must not have any contact with the Ashbourne family. So let’s skip the handshake.”
