His Ex wife is a billionaire Chapter 631

Chapter 631

Chapter 631

“Mr. Fairhaven, is there trouble at the corporation?” Lily asked, her brows knit together in concern as she attempted to probe the

situation.

The moment Jareth had entered the room, Lily had sensed the weight of his thoughts. It wasn’t that Marilla was negligent in her attentiveness to him, but Lily had been by his side for so long that no one else could claim to understand him better.

Jareth’s deep–set eyes darkened as he clenched a pair of game dice ruthlessly in his palm. “I met with Edith today. She’s currently in the hospital, under the protection of my mother and grandfather.”

You saw her!”

Lily’s pupils shrank, and she quickly lowered her voice. “I hope there wasn’t any trouble?”

Jareth scoffed. “Would she dare? Not under my watch.”

“Even so, you should remain cautious.” Lily voiced her concern, “If Edith managed to return, she must have aligned herself with Gary. Your sister has long since turned against you. To spite you, she’ll surely join forces with Gary to come after you.”

“Heh, she’d better make her move soon. I’m getting impatient.”

Jareth gritted his teeth, nearly crushing the dice in his palm. “I’ve been looking for a reason to deal with that girl. If she wants to light a fire, then I’ll make sure she gets burned. She dares to conspire with Gary, I dare to end them both!”

Lily nodded thoughtfully. “You’re more than capable of handling the Fairhaven Group on your own. I’m not worried about that. My main concern is Marilla. Edith has targeted her before, even causing a scene at our home. Thankfully, we stopped her before things escalated. Now that Edith is back, she won’t let things slide. I fear she may try to harm Marilla again.”

She wouldn’t dare!”

Jareth’s eyes flared with a crimson rage at the mere thought. “When she maliciously exposed those medical records in front of everyone, nearly tearing apart Evadne and Thad’s relationship, she ceased to be my sister! She can wreak havoc all she likes, but if she lays a finger on Marilla, I swear she’ll pay with her life!”

A sharp crackling sound erupted from the direction of the kitchen!

Jareth and Lily instantly realized what it might be and rushed towards the noise.

“Marilla!” Jareth called out in shock, a pang striking his heart.

There she was, Marilla knelt on the floor, her face deathly pale as she frantically gathered the broken pieces of porcelain.

Ah!”

In her panic, the sharp ceramic cut through her finger, beads of blood blossoming against her alabaster skin, a stark and harrowing sight.

Jareth’s heart thundered in his chest as he knelt beside Marilla, grabbing her wrist in urgency. “How could you be so careless?”

“I–I’m sorry, Jareth.”

Marilla looked down, her eyes brimming with tears, gazing remorsefully at the ruined pandashaped cupcakes. “I was clumsy, I couldn’t hold on. I’ve ruined everything.”

“It doesn’t matter, you shouldn’t hurt yourself!” Jareth’s voice was tight with concern, gently sucking on her wounded finger.

Marilla felt the warmth envelop her cool fingertips, a comforting heat spreading through her.

And yet, for some reason, her heart remained chilled, filled with unease.

“Mr. Fairhaven, don’t be so harsh,” Lily interjected, having swiftly brought the first aid kit to tend to Marilla’s wound. “The cupcakes were made from scratch by Marilla, who spent all day preparing them for you with ingredients we bought together this morning. It was a gesture of love for you, and now that they’re ruined, of course she would care.”

Jareth was taken aback, realizing his words had been too harsh. Of course, these were more than just snacks; they were a token of Marilla’s affection for him. And in his concern for her injury, he had overlooked her feelings

Anyway, I didn’t do a good job, so it’s just as well they’re broken.”

Marilla forced a smile, though it was laced with effort. Next time, I’ll make some more for you.”

Before she could finish her sentence, Jareth had already begun to pick up the crushed cupcakes from the floor, popping them into his mouth without hesitation, savoring each morsel.

“Delicious, sweet, and perfect! I’m at a loss for words. My wife’s cooking is amazing!”

His mouth was too full to speak properly, yet he managed to lavishly praise her. “Honey, am I lucky enough to eat this every day? Never mind, that would be too much for you. I’m content with an occasional treat!”

They fell on the floor; they’re d*rty, stop eating!” Marilla’s cheeks flushed with panic, wishing she could reach into his mouth and take out the food.

They’re not d*rty,Jareth insisted, quickly stuffing the last piece of the panda cupcake into his mouth and swallowing it with satisfaction. Then, with a satisfied squint, he teased, “I want more. Is there any left?”

Marilla’s lashes fluttered. “No, that was all I made.”

“Ah, but I haven’t had my fill, what to do?”

Járeth’s arm sn*ked around her waist, pulling her into his embrace with a possessive tug. His voice was husky and enticing, “So tonight, in bed, let me feast again, shall we?”

Marilla leaned into his strong chest, her l*ps parting slightly, her nod shy but affirmative.

After Lily finished bandaging Marilla’s wound, Jareth called her into his study.

Marilla seems off, don’t you think?” Jareth slouched into the sofa, his gaze somber, fingers idly circling the rim of his whiskey glass

“Yes, she likely overheard our conversation. But I’m not sure how much she caught.”

Lily’s forehead creased with worry. “Mr. Fairhaven, don’t you find that Marilla seems particularly afraid of Edith?”

Recalling the incident when Edith had bullied Marilla in his absence, Jareth clenched his jaw tightly. “That incident must have left

a scar on Marilla. She’s always been introverted and timid; she can’t handle such confrontations. Listen, now that Edith is back, you need to be extra vigilant when I’m away. Marilla must not be given a chance to encounter her, understand?”

Lily always had this niggling feeling that something was off between Marilla and Edith.

She couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but her intuition was practically screaming that there was a story there, untold and simmering under the surface.

“Jesus, why is it so damn hot in here? Don’t we have air conditioning?” Jareth complained, his breath coming in heavy pants as a flush climbed up his long n*eck. “I feel like I’m on fire.”

That’s when Marilla remembered the time, and she glanced up at the wall clock.

Right on schedule!

“Marilla!” Jareth’s voice had an edge, his eyes suddenly glassy and intense. She took a step back, her eyes wide, “I guess maybe you had one too many oysters at dinner.”

I’ve got a ton of stuff to take care of, so I’ll just be going now!” She made her escape as Jack’s breathing grew more labored, and he cursed under his breath.

“Oysters? You little devil, you know it’s more than just the oystersit’s like you doubled down on them!”

Those oysters sure did the trick.

Jareth spent the night passionately with Marilla, his efforts intense and dripping with sweat. All she could do was cry out for

mercy

My girl, when are you gonna give me babies?he whispered seductively into her ear, as they both approached the height of

ecstasy

Marilla, her b*dy glistening with sweat, legs entwined around his waist, was lost in the heat of the moment, yet her gaze seemed distant and preoccupied.

After his condition stabilized, Emeric, fed up with the sterile smell of the hospital, couldn’t wait to get back to the comforts of

Silverlake Harbor

Cassius spared no expense in converting an entire room into a stateof–the–art sickroom, even springing for a million–dollar treatment machine tailored for Emeric’s condition. The attending physician was none other than Chasel

Emeric, surveying the room with a scowl, snapped, “Cassius! What, do you think I’m terminally ill or something?”

Cassius was taken aback

Chasel, hovering in the background, worried silently, his heart full of devotion.

Arnold, always quick with a quip, scratched his head, Dad, what’s wrong with Cassius? Aren’t you the one who’s sick?”

“I’ll give you sick!Emeric lifted his hand as if to swat Arnold, the air ripe with his colorful language.

Cassius quickly stepped in front of his brother, a slight smile on his l*ps, “Dad, calm down. Let’s talk this through.”

“I come home to avoid the hospital, and you turn my house into a sickroom? What’s the point? Might as well have stayed and farted in bed Emeric’s temper was clearly frayed from days in bed.

Cassius remained unruffled, even managing a smile, “Dad, Arnold’s just pulling your leg.”

“Right, Dad, Chasel chimed in smoothly.

The room fell into confused silence.

What?

Emeric looked at Chase, befuddled, “What did you call me?”

Chasel froze, his heart pounding as if he was caught in a spotlight, n*ked!

He had spoken his inner thoughts aloud!

What to do, what to do? Panic!

Cassius cleared his throat, for once looking awkward, his fingers intertwined tightly, “Dr. Bright’s been with us in Skyrim for a while, always helping out. He must be missing his own family.”

“Yes, yes.” Chasel agreed hurriedly, nodding vigorously.

Emeric, taking this at face value, was overcome with gratitude, “Chasel, you’ve been a great help to us. I owe you one. I’ll find a way to repay you.”

“Chairman Emeric, you’re too kind,” Chasel said, his gaze inadvertently drifting toward Cassius‘ handsome profile. “Your wife is part of your family, and my heart is with her, so in a way, I’m part of your family too. Helping out is the least I can do.”

And just like that, Cassius smoothly covered up the sl*p. No one thought much of it, except for Suri, who stood in the background. Watching the two men, one with flushed ears, the other with a red cheek, her eyes darkened with a deep, unspoken thought.
