Chapter 222
Chapter 222
Since Avery booked the largest ballroom at the hotel, Elliot went ahead and booked the smaller
ballroom right next to it.
He wanted to see for himself exactly how grand Avery's birthday party would be.
That weekend, everyone who received an invitation to the party gathered in the largest ballroom—
Astor Hall - at the Oasis Hotel.
"Why isn't Avery here yet?" Tammy asked Mike the moment she stepped into the banquet hall. "She
hasn't even replied to my text from last night."
Mike shrugged, then explained, "She's been busy lately. I don't know what she's busy with, but I
already sent her the address, and she promised to be here."
"Okay... Isn't she busy with stuff at the company?" Tammy asked.
"She isn't! I really don't know what she's been so busy with. Everyone has the right to their own
personal space. We might be close like sisters... I mean, brother and sister... I won't force her to tell me
anything she doesn't want me to know about."
"I see... Since she's been busy, who's the one who organized the party?"
"It was me!" Mike declared.
"Who put the guest list together?"
"That was me, too!"
Tammy let out a "pfft", then turned and walked over to Celestial Hall next door.
Celestial Hall was much smaller in size than Astor Hall.
Thanks to Mike, Elliot's friends were having a gathering at Celestial Hall.
Tammy walked in and immediately sat down next to Jun.
"Where's Elliot? Why isn't he here yet? Didn't you say he was upset that Avery didn't invite him?"
Tammy asked excitedly as she picked up Jun's glass of wine and took a sip.
"He said he was stuck in traffic half an hour ago," Ben said as he looked at Tammy, then asked, "Isn't
Avery here yet?"
"She isn't! Mike said she's been busy, but he has no idea why. She didn't have time to plan a party at
all. Mike was the one who invited the guests. Since he's not on good terms with any of you, of course,
he wouldn't invite you!"
"So, that's what happened! Mike sure is petty!" Ben sneered. "Chad didn't even make him pay for his
actions, but here he is holding a grudge against us!"
Tammy and Ben's conversation struck a chord in Chad.
He felt like he had dragged Elliot into his mess.
If it were not for his fallout with Mike, Elliot might have been invited to Avery's party.
Five minutes later, Chad snuck out of Celestial Hall and made his way over to Astor Hall.
Mike was greeting the guests at the hall's entrance. He immediately saw Chad.
"Come with me! We need to talk!" Chad said as he adjusted his glasses.
Mike scoffed, then walked out of the hall and followed Chad to the end of an empty hallway.
"Why didn't you invite my boss to Avery Tate's birthday party?!" Chad demanded. "Even if you have a
problem with me, what do you have against him? Who do you think you are, making this decision for
Avery?!"
Mike crossed his arms, then said, "Why should I invite your boss? They're divorced. Doesn't a top
student like you know what being divorced means?"
"Of course, I know what it means! A divorce doesn't make people enemies!" Chad snapped furiously.
"You did this on purpose to get back at me! Whatever you have against me, you can bring it directly to
me. You shouldn't drag my boss into this!" "What do you have to do with me not inviting your boss? Are
you picking a fight with me on purpose? Do you want to fight? Come on! I'm not afraid-"
Before Mike could finish his statement, Chad threw a punch at him.
Mike swerved and dodged Chad's fist!
The two men were soon entangled in a brawl.
Over at Astor Hall, Laura was trying to call Avery again after not getting an answer.
This time, however, Avery's phone was turned off.
"She wouldn't simply turn her phone off," Laura said uneasily. "Could she be in trouble?"
Hearing this, Wesley dialed Avery's number and confirmed that her phone was turned off.
"Don't worry. I'll go look for her!" he said, then rushed out of the hall.
