Chapter 87

Chapter 87

She made rice and chicken wings. Lydia wasn't really a good cook but she'd do anything for Liam. She had watched the recipe on YouTube over and over again. Luckily for her the meal turned out so nice. She made soup too, her plan was to make it an appetizer. As soon as she was done with the table she invited Liam.

"Hmm, all these taste heavenly, I'm sure they'll taste so too." Liam complimented as he took his seat.

"Mmm, I think so" Lydia replied smiling trying to be very humble.

"Alright Lydia please say a prayer for the food, I can't wait to pounce on it" said Liam.

"Urhhm, I think you have to do the praying, I'm the host you know" Lydia shrugged.

"Does that matter? I'm sure God won't mind who does the prayer" Liam joked as they both laughed.

"Yeah, he would, your the one eating food you didn't prepare so he expects you to pray" Lydia replied with a sense of humour.

"Alright Alright I'll just pray, I guess you've done a lot of bad things, I'll just help you out" Liam joked.

"What? "Lydia looked at him in amusement and smiles.

"Yeah close your eyes now," Liam smiled as she closed her eyes.

"Father, we thank and appreciate you for whom you are. We give you praise for an opportunity like this to come together and eat, we pray that you sanctify our food in Jesus name and at the end of the day may your name be glorified in Jesus name I pray" He concluded the prayers as Lydia chorused Amen.

"You pray so well Liam, I was inspired for real" Lydia complimented as she opened the bowls and began to serve them in their individual plates.

"Yeah, do not joke with me, I'm an actual Jesus baby" Liam bragged as he checked out the food she was serving.

"I was my Sunday school teacher's favourite" he bragged on.

"Oh I see, and a good womaniser too? nice blend" she joked but faked a serious face.

"Silly you! "Liam exclaimed as he laughed out loud.

"Okay can we dive into the meal already?" Liam asked but had already started doing justice to the plate in front of him.

"So do you have any siblings?" Liam asked to keep the conversation going.

"Errhm, like I told you my mum divorced my Dad, so she refused having any other child after the divorce but my Dad remarried and he has two boys. They're quite young, sixteen and eighteen I think. I do visit them during the holidays" lydia explained and resumed drinking her soup.

"Oh wow, I'll love to see the boys, they're so lucky to have an angel as their sister" Liam said scooping rice from his plate.

"For real they're lucky but do they value what they have? No"

"Boys never value their sisters as much as they should " Lydia stated laughing.

"So do you have Sisters?" She enquired.

"No I don't, I wish I do though " Liam sipped from his glass of water.

"Aww, so how many brothers do you have?" Lydia questioned as she grabbed a chicken wing.

"I don't have any" Liam replied smiling.

"Are you for real? Or you're kidding me?" Lydia asked quite astonished.

"Naah, I'm being serious"

"My Mum died shortly after giving birth to me, she had leukemia and was advised not to get pregnant until she was completely healed but she insisted on giving birth believing she and her doctor could manage it. Three months after my birth she died" Liam narrated with a straight face.

"Oh my dear I'm so sorry about that, I can imagine the trauma this must have caused you. "Lydia said sweetly.

"No it's fine I've grown past being sad over the story, things happen you know and I believe everything happens for a reason." Liam looked at her with smiles.
