Chapter 44

"Liam, Hang in there!" Diana shouted in tears as she joined the nurses and doctor pushing the stretcher into the ward. The nurse made her move away from the stretcher but she just couldn't take it. She doesn't know what to do. Even though she had become a celebrity, she still didn't know that people were taking videos of her. They all felt sorry for her. They almost surrounded her but she left where she was staying to a quiet place.

She almost ran insane at the thought of something bad happening to him. She couldn't live without him. She cried her eyes out. On top, she was so worried. She couldn't think straight. In another way, she was so mad at herself for allowing him not to rest.

"But you look so fine to me, Liam. Why? Why did you pass out? You must not leave me. Not when I decided to give love another chance. You can't get sick either. I need you to be healthy. To be healthy for me, for your family, and for the love we have shared. You need to fight." She muttered to herself.

She buried her face in her palms as she heard Samantha's voice.

She raised her head immediately and turned it to the other side.

"Diana," Samantha said in a shaky voice as she looked at her pitifully.

Diana got up on her feet and Sam rushed to her and hugged her. Kenneth went to them and pat Diana's shoulder. Samantha felt so sorry for her best friend.

"I won't be able to take it if anything happens to him. I won't be able to forgive myself." Diana said as fresh tears rolled out of her eyes.

"Don't cry. He would be okay. The doctors are already attending to him.".

"But we can't put our trust in them. I am scared." She cried out.

"Don't think that way, Diana. Everything will be okay. Nothing will go wrong. Nothing!" Kenneth assured and pat her shoulder. Samantha let Diana rest on her shoulder. Kenneth sat down and he hoped and prayed that nothing would happen to him.

A few minutes later, a nurse rushed out.

Diana jumped up and rushed the nurse.

"Nurse, Nurse."

The nurse waited. "What happened to him? Is he getting better? Have you treated him? What is his condition?" She threw questions at the poor nurse who found it so hard to answer her questions at the moment.

"You need to calm down, ma'am. I can't say anything as of now." The nurse said and she was about to walk away when she dragged her back.

"Please nurse. You need to tell me what condition my boyfriend. He is my boyfriend. Nothing must happen to him." Diana said with tears in her eyes.

Samantha and Kenneth hurriedly moved over and separated Diana from the Nurse. Sam knew at that moment that Diana could lose her patience and hurt the nurse. "Calm down, Diana. They are doing all they could do." Kenneth assured. "Miss Wilson." Another voice called.

They turned. It was the doctor.

Diana left the nurse's arm and the nurse walked away immediately.

"Doctor." She called and went to the doctor.

"What happened to him? Is he okay? Is he getting any better?" Sue asked questions.

"You need to calm down, ma'am. We are doing our best. His condition is critical and..."

Diana didn't allow him to finish talking before she lunged at him.

Kenneth and Samantha held her back.

"You are trying your best? What? Then your best is not enough. You need to put in more effort to save him. That's why you are called Doctors. You need to make sure he is okay. Nothing must go wrong, Doctor Rosales. You must save him... save him..." She said and burst into tears again.

"Yes, Sam is right. They are all right. Let's just hope for the best."

She pushed her hair out of her eyes and faced Samantha.

"I hope so. I hope he is not going to leave me."

"He won't," Samantha replied patting her back.

"But why?" Diana asked.

"What does this have to happen to him, us?" Diana asked.

"Things are meant to happen, Diana but he would be fine."

"But I have decided to give love another chance, Samantha. I have forgiven him. But why? I love him so much now. I don't know what I will do if something bad happens to him." Diana laments.

When Samantha was about to give her a reply, Doctor Rosales walked up to them.

"You need to see me in my office, Miss Wilson. Concerning his condition." He said.

Diana stood up immediately.

"We will go with her." Sam and Kenneth said together. Doctor Rosales nodded and welcomed them into his office.

"You can have your sits please."

"Thank you, doctor." Sam thanked the doctor.

"Miss Wilson, his condition is critical as of now. He has a brain injury which might be traumatic later on. But fortunately, it could still be corrected. He is under our observation right now. But can I ask you some questions personally?" "Yes, of course, doctor. Cut to chase.".

"Has Mr. Liam been involved in a fight before which involves throwing punches?"

"No, never."

"Though, it's a mild one that can affect his brain cells temporarily. But it could still be cured."

"Really doctor? How? Would it cost money?" She asked.

"Not much. After treating him. He would need to undergo some therapy because some of his brain cells have been damaged a little and it can be very dangerous." The doctor explained. "Therapy?" Samantha and Diana said together.
