Her Forever

Chapter 78

Sadie

My body felt extremely heavy. The weight of my body felt like thousand-pound rocks on each part of my extremities. . It was hard to breathe as I tried to reach out for anything or anyone. Gaia wasn’t returning my calls for her. The darkness was all around me as I layed on, I guess would be a bed. I wasn’t awake, yet I wasn’t really asleep. My eyelids were closed, but I could hear people talking, murmuring around me. It was getting aggravating being in some sort of purgatory.

It sounds like Marcellus was defeated by the way people spoke in the room. I immediately felt relief in my mind that we no longer have to deal with that terrible monster. My power never reached him, or at least I hope it didn’t. I remember pushing his power to save my friend, Ariande but the harder I pushed I was met with more resistance. My body wouldn’t allow me to give him the satisfaction that he wanted. To heal his wolf so he could become the ultimate demon wolf, he wanted to be. I was grateful that I had trouble but also worried about Ariande that she would be in danger.

I felt the power go full force into my wrists, but it stopped there. The exhaustion from healing his prisoners tore me down mentally, and concentrating all that power into Marcellus was the downfall.

“When will she wake up?” I heard Seth’s worried voice say. I could feel him holding my hand up, which felt so heavy.

“When she has gathered enough strength. Even though she has the power to heal others, healing herself is another matter. Each power has a bit of downfall to it,” Ariande’s voice said, saddened. “I’m just glad her power didn’t reach Marcellus. The spell I was able to cast that was whispered to me by Hecate prevented that.”

“What do you mean?” My mother and father spoke at the same time.

“The spell I cast, Hecate spoke to me the last part of the spell that wasn’t supposed to be a part of the original. It was in Latin, so the Princess didn’t understand. I basically added the addendum that, “all those who are deserving could be healed.”

“Thank the gods,” I heard Orion say as I heard a “plop.” Probably on a chair.

Why can I not wake up? I want to tell everyone I am OK and I can hear everything. Trying to scream and shout, I finally heard myself make a small noise of a m**n. Seth grabbed my hand and put his other hand to my cheek. “Love, are you there? Can you wake up,” he pleaded. The more I screamed, the deeper into the darkness I fell. I could no longer hear them, so I decided to try and be still, to sleep. Maybe I will wake from this terrible blackness soon.

“Well, well, well, haven’t you been busy?” I heard in a playful voice. I was no longer feeling heavy and sat up, rubbing my eyes and seeing someone so beautiful. She was sitting in some white pants with a pail blue flowing top. The woman had white hair and a half-moon on her forehead, reading a book. She closed it and looked at me as I stared at her.

I was sitting on a white linen bed, wearing, in fact, white, and my hair was flowing down my back. My skin was white, clean, and free of any scars or cuts. The woman’s glowing blue eyes held out her hand for me to take, and I took it. I didn’t feel the danger I had felt during those nights in the cave.

“I’m sure you know who I am now. I won’t introduce myself.” She put the book down and folded her hands.

“Goddess Selene,” I whispered. “Mhm,” she mumbled.

“You’ve done well, better than I thought you would, actually. You’ve had a pretty tough time getting Seth to realize it was you, but overall, you did wonderfully.” Selene smiled at me, and I just smiled back.

I was about to speak until a small wolf came up to me, put two paws on the bed, and gave me a quick lick. It was Gaia! Giving her a quick hug and pat on the head, she nodded and left without saying a word. “She’s busy right now. Healing you and her. You really put both of the bodies to good use. I’m proud of you, dear.” Selena touched my cheek lovingly. “Now, I need you to do one more thing before I let you go back to sleep to continue healing.”

“What is it?” I was disappointed I wasn’t waking up now but was eager to help her. She did give me a mate and a wolf. I kind of owed her that.

“Your friend, Orion. He’s been lonely a long time and has been stuck in his ways until recently,” Selene trailed off. “With the help of you, you showed him the light, and I need you to let him know his mate is near. He will have a serious time getting her to love him back, but it will all be worth it.” Selene put her hands back in her lap and started whispering, “Damn males trying to make them look good spreading rumors.” She sighed while I laughed at her. That was Orion, alright.

“Now, sleep. You will be pretty busy when you wake up. Just a few more days of sleep.” I tried to speak and protest, but my eyes were already closing, and my body was lying back. “Wait!” I tried to plead, but it was already too late.

I’m not sure how many hours or even days I have been stuck in this darkness again, but my body doesn’t feel as heavy. I felt stronger, but I haven’t tried to climb out of the hole I’d been stuck in.

“Gaia? Can you hear me now?” I heard a loud yawn.

“Yeah, I’m here,” the sleepy wolf yipped.

“Where have you been? I’ve been stuck all alone, and you weren’t answering?”

“Girl, I was tired. We had been sucked dry from all the energy you gave those wolves on top of physically fighting. I wasn’t able to heal us. I’m sorry I slept so long.”

“I’m just glad you are OK. I’m just ready to wake up now. We need to see our mate.”

“You’re right.” I heard her yawn. “Just one more nap. I promise we won’t sleep as long.” I g*****d in frustration.

“We are worrying people! We need to wake up. The Goddess said we could wake up now!”

“Trust me, Sadie. We need sleep. You are going to be busy when we wake up. Enjoy it now because you won’t sleep for days when we wake up again,” she let out her yippie laugh.

“What does that mean?” I started to panic. “Gaia!!!!” Before I could argue anymore, we both fell back into the darkness.

Seth

Five days of laying next to her in the pack’s medical ward. My Love’s body has become warmer, and her breathing has not been as labored. The slight twitch of her fingers or the furrow of her brows get Caspian, and I excited. Maybe she would wake up soon. Each time I was disappointed as she continued to lay there in my arms.

The threat of war and destruction has been eliminated, and a new alliance with the Faes has formed. With three major kingdoms in alliance and all with a common cause of peace the lower kingdoms will have no choice but to listen.

I felt a nudge against my chest and a deep breath from her nose. Trying not to get my hopes up, I looked down, praying to see her. Dear goddess, I finally saw those beautiful green eyes looking back at me. A small smile came on her lips, and I gripped her tighter. “Thanks, goddess,” I breathed heavily and buried my nose into her neck. “Baby, I was so worried about you. Don’t you ever do that again, never leave me, you hear?” I growled.

“I promise,” she peeped.

“You are MINE and will always be mine.” I growled into her ear. She growled back and attacked my lips, and put her hands through my dirty hair. We both have laid here for days, but that didn’t seem to matter. We held onto each other tightly, and I wasn’t about to let her go, until I heard small sobs. My Sadie didn’t cry. She hardly ever cried.

“I’m sorry,” a few tears went down her face. “I’m not trying to cry.” Her voice was shaky as I held her head close to my chest.

“Baby, you cry all you want. I’m surprised you haven’t done more.”

“It has all been so much the past few months, you know?” Her little voice croaked. I nodded in understanding as I sat us up both in the bed and had her straddle me. I petted her hair back and kissed her tears. “I really need a break, there isn’t anything else I need to worry about is there? No more attacks or wars or rogues or anything?” At the end of her sentence, her voice went an octave higher, which I found utterly adorable.

“No, my love, no more. Everything’s over right now. Not for a long time.” I pulled her up so I could look into her eyes. They were rimmed red, her cheeks were puffy and her pouty mouth was becoming so tempting. “I don’t say this as often as I should, love, but I am so proud of you. You have achieved so much in such a short amount of time and I know that this kingdom and especially me, are so grateful to have you. I love you baby.” She started sobbing again and I just held her. Sadie cried for almost an hour. She let out the emotion that had been building up for so long. My happy, peppy, and still innocent to me Sadie finally broke down.

Once she was finished, she looked up with her glassy eyes. “Everyone else is OK, right?” I nodded and led her off the bed, giving her some joggers and a large sweatshirt to wear to the main living room area. I carried her in like she really was my baby, on my h*p with her head on my shoulder. I couldn’t help but smile at how childish she was, especially being the warrior princess she was while she helped kick Marcellus’ a*s.

Everyone was excited to see her awake. The warriors in the house stood close to her, her parents hugged and kissed her, and even Rebecca and Lela were there trying to comfort her because she started crying again. Once she had hugged everyone, she surprised me and climbed back on my lap on the couch and curled up. Her parents looked at her longingly and smiled.

“I’m so glad you have your mate, Sabrina,” Estar spoke while touching Sadie’s leg. “But I can’t help but wish we could have seen you grow up.” Sadie smiled back.

“Well, why don’t you have more kids? Don’t you guys have forever? I’d love a little sister or brother.” Emlio sat down next to his mate and put his arm around her.

“We didn’t want you to think we forgot about you, princess. We didn’t want to think we replaced you.” He spoke sadly. Sadie sat up in my lap.

“Really? Come on. Once I saw both of your faces when you saw me, I knew you wanted me! Get out of here and give me a brother or sister. I’m fine now!” She smiled really big while her parents started laughing. Marco was in the background dry heaving, thinking about the king and queen getting it on in the pack house. “Oh shut up, Marco!” Sadie laughed.

Orion got down on one knee in front of Sadie. He grabbed her hand and kissed her on her knuckles. I would have ripped his face off if I didn’t understand their relationship, but I knew Sadie thought of him like a misunderstood brother. Orion’s complexion had considerably improved. He no longer had that darkened look about him, he was back into his whites and light greens with golden threads, hair was considerably lighter.

“My princess, I must take my leave. I’ve been gone too long. Just know the treaty is being drawn up, and we will sign in the near future.” He smiled at her and she jumped out of my arms to hug him. Caspian growled, and people around us started laughing. I don’t want anyone touching what was f*****g mine. I grabbed her back, shortened the hug, and put her head on my shoulder near my mark.

“Ugh, wolves,” Orion rolled his eyes.

“She’s out there, Orion. She’s beautiful too, but you will have to be patient with her.” She whispered. Orion looked at Sadie longingly and confused. “She’ll be human, and you are really going to have to win her over.” Sadie smiled at him and gave him a thumbs up while he gave the biggest grin a fae could give. It didn’t look creepy like those side smirks those tricksters do. “And thank you for helping us and saving everyone.”

“My pleasure.” He bowed and put his hand to his chest as he left with a smile and walked out the door, his white cape flowing behind him. Damn flirt.
