Chapter 18
Soon enough they arrived, as a weird showdown took place.
I was surrounded by angels and vampires and felt a bit out of place among these ultimate bosses since I had zero to none damage to my attacks and didn’t hold any aggro.
They were taken down really quick as the combined force of am army resulted in a sure instakill.
Fortunately, they surrendered before more damage could be made.
I did tell them to avoid hurting them too much.
As they were bounded and pinned down, I couldn’t see their faces, but I don’t think I wanted to either way.
I uncovered the mask that revealed a handsome young man with white hair and purple eyes. The hidden capture target and first capture target I meet. This isn’t how the game is supposed to be, right?
I know that his Hyde, known as the mad scientist, didn’t care about human life as long as it provided with answers, but clearly this was far to deranged as he looked at me with crazed eyes of ecstasy as if he had found the holy grail.
“He is corrupted!”
Queen Dawn stepped forward.
“Corrupted?”
“Yes! An anomaly split his personalities into two and resulted in this atrocity completely taking over the body.”
“What type of anomaly?”
“The same type that made you... We don’t know for sure!”
That was close! We wouldn’t want the others know what completes the end of that sentence.
“I see! Can you fix it?”
“Yes, but I don’t want to!”
“Eeeh? Come again?”
“The corruption is too strong. If I take it out, his bad personality will disappear and so will half of his memories. He might not even have normal capacities anymore. It is too risky!”
“But how did this even happen!?”
“It was your paper planes. Having contact with your mana may have catalysed the change.”
“What you’re saying is that I’m a walking disaster?”
“No! You merely catalysed the reaction of his already sparked anomaly. It would have happened anyways just that it would be years from now and it wouldn’t have complete control.”
That’s still bad don’t you think?
“Please, we will do anything! Just save him!”
Jade tried to move his head in an attempt to look towards us.
“He wasn’t always like this! Our master became like this just three years ago! We... We couldn’t do anything to stop it!”
“We also wanted to find the creator of the paper planes so as to find the reason in our master’s change and ultimately, a cure...”
Megan started to cry.
“We’re sorry! We didn’t mean for it to end this way! Please just help him! His not a bad person!”
“We will take full responsibility for everything! Even if he ends up in a bad state, it can’t be worse than this! We will take care of him no matter what happens!”
Robin looked determined, as they were helped to stand up, no longer lying on the ground.
I wonder if it is their real names.
Queen Dawn looked at my bemused expression. I just nodded in resignation.
She touched the man’s forehead and it turned everybody blind for a few seconds.
The man was no longer conscious and fell on the ground.
“Release them!”
Robin put the man over his broad shoulders and followed by the others, further and further distanced themselves.
“You can wipe their memories or change them through manipulation right?”
I looked at king Evan and queen Night.
I don’t want them to have no memories of me, it’s an unbearable thought.
But I can’t have them know things that could endanger the angels and vampires.
Queen Dawn looked at me warmly.
“That won’t be necessary!”
“They’re trustworthy!”
King Frey smirked.
He was definitely having fun with my inner struggles.
I know.
They’re good people.
