Chapter 11
“You would have been dead if it were a real nightmare cat! I didn’t expect for you to be so composed, and your lack of action showed your understanding of the situation as you have realised that resistance was futile!”
Wait whut?
And you’re doing a great job omitting the fact that you just licked me!
I didn’t even get at that stage with my boyfriend!
How are you going to compensate me?
“You look like you need some answers! I can use shape shifting magic!”
That wasn’t my first question in mind, but thanks for clarifying that for me...
“I’m going back!’”
“Oh, so you finally speak!”
His face contained a trace of pleasant surprise.
Crap! Since when did I give reports on my situation?
He caught me by surprise, that’s all!
As I got further down, he caught up and started circling me like the way he did while shifted.
“You exceeded my expectations these past two years and managed to impress me, and you’re the first to do so!”
He had a proud smirk plastered on his face.
“So as a reward and also today being your birthday, I got permission to take you somewhere!”
So you took me here knowing beforehand that it was my birthday?
“Get on!”
On what? I swallowed my question as it was soon answered.
He shifted back into a nightmare cat.
I hesitantly climbed his back while thinking that he seriously doesn’t have a clue about personal space.
He sped through the forest and reached the edge of the city with inhuman speed.
He changed back and took ahold of my hand with me begrudgingly following.
The bustling streets overwhelmed me as I only saw very few people for a long time and being isolated that long also didn’t help.
“Ann!”
A small voice filled with guilt resounded from behind.
I turned my head and tears started to fall.
“Mommy!”
I ran and hugged my mother tightly hoping to never let go.
My mother bent down and held my head in her embrace. I could feel her hand gently patting my head.
“I’m sorry! I’m truly sorry!”
After we both calmed down, we sat at a food court surrounded by stalls selling different types of food.
“Why did you leave me here?”
I muttered in a barely audible voice.
“I’m sorry, I...”
She looked at black beard and he nodded.
“Your father said that he will arrange for a suitable marriage for you if you have magical powers and...”
She paused heavily.
“...but also, if your eldest brother doesn’t manage to...”
She sighed.
“At first, your father wrote me the first part I told you, but I was informed of your treatment after some time I left you in your fathers care so I came to take you back when I found the real reason for which your father took you in his care.”
“You’re eldest brother has an illness which may take his life rather sooner than later...”
I see...
So that’s how it was...
