Chapter 26

Natalie shot Josh a look and pushed him away.

“Josh just chuckled, reached over to the nightstand, and grabbed a handful of candies. “That soup probably wasn’t great. Here, have some candy. He handed one to Natalie.

Thanks.”

As the candy melted in her mouth, the sweetness lifted her spirits. She got carried away in the moment, savoring the simple pleasure.

Later that night, after dinner, they got ready for bed. Josh produced a heating pad from somewhere, placed it on Natalie’s stomach, and cuddled her from behind. With a hint of disappointment, he murmured into her ear. Too bad we have to take it easy tonight.”

Natalie didn’t dare to move or say anything. With a smile, Josh hugged her tighter. “You owe me one for next time!

Natalie bit her lower lip. She thought, ‘I’ll have to get some condoms.

A while later, she remembered something important. I might need to go to work tomorrow.

Josh froze, his expression clouding over. Tomorrow?

He had planned their last vacation day to the fullest a trip to a famous tower, a local fair in Gobis, a mountain hike, and watching the sunrise together.

“My leave ends after today,” Natalie said. No more leisure time. Plus, she had things to do at work.

Josh was silent for a few moments before replying. “Alright, I’ll arrange a ride for you.”

“Sounds good.”

In the middle of the night, Josh woke up to find the heating pad had cooled down. He quietly got another one and replaced the old one on Natalie’s stomach. She slept peacefully.

The next morning, after breakfast, Martin parked outside Galaxy Manor. Josh’s instructions had been clear, no interruptions during his three–day break, but suddenly he wanted Natalie driven to work and himself to the Presidential Palace

Martin was puzzled. Josh had been swamped with work; these three vacation days were rare. Now, Josh stormed back to the palace without really enjoying his time off. Martin knew something was up; Josh wasn’t acting like a man who had just relaxed for a few days.

The car ride was pretty awkward. Neither Josh nor Natalie said a word after they hopped in. Josh leaned back in his seat with his eyes closed, seemingly trying to rest, but his occasional frown gave away his discomfort

Martin, their driver, couldn’t help wondering if their vacation hadn’t gone well or if they had bad sex.

The car cruised smoothly and pulled up to the Sherman Group building in about thirty minutes

“We’re here, Mr. and Mrs. Franco, Martin announced: He found it odd that Natalie worked at Sherman Group but never asked about it.

Josh opened his eyes, casting a sideways glance at the towering “Sherman Group sign. As he toyed with the black rosary bracelet on his wrist, a wave of coldness and annoyance flashed through his

Tm heading out,” said Natalie.

Okay,” Josh replied lightly, his hand pausing on the bracelet. Natalie then stepped out,

It was almost nine o’clock, the rush of workers crowding at the base of Sherman Group. The sight of the luxury car sparked curiosity.

“That’s a Maybachr

“Is it Mr. Sherman’s car?”

“No way.

“Shh!” Someone recognized Natalie. “Isn’t that Natalie. Mr. Sherman’s fiancée?”

Not too far off sat another Lamborghini in the parking lot.

Just a few steps away, Josh’s husky call made Natalie pause. “Nat”

She turned around to find Josh’s eyes locked on hers through the car’s open window, “Come here,” he beckoned.

Curious, Natalie walked back. As she reached the window, she asked, “What’s-

Before she could finish, Josh’s grip pulled her into a kiss.

Natalie was surprised, leaning over awkwardly as josh’s hand prevented her from bumping into the car’s frame.

Whispers and gasps filled the air, some bystanders even began snapping photos.

Martin shifted his gaze away, sneaking peeks through the rearview mirror.

The morning sun cast a warm glow on Josh and Natalie’s public display of affection. Josh didn’t budge, his breath mingling with Natalie’s in a passionate kiss

When they finally broke away, Natalie gasped for air, and Josh pressed his forehead against hers, his voice deep. I wish I could stick around.” Out of breath, Natalie just panted without responding.

“Do you want me to stay?” Josh pressed, his voice low and intense.

Natalie’s heart raced; she was too flustered to answer.

Josh wasn’t about to let it go. “Well, will you?” he asked again, looking deeply into her still–reeling eyes. Tell me, do you want me to?”
