Chapter From 119

Chapter 119

Josh’s low and pleasant voice came from the other end, “I’ll be back soon.”

After a brief pause, he added in a gentle tone, “Tell her to rest early; she doesn’t have to wait for me.”

“Understood.

The call ended.

Josh closed the white leather book in front of him, capped the pen, stood up, and took the coat from the nearby hanger.

Martin looked pleased. “Mr. President, are yougoing back?”

Martin thought, Is he finally going off duty?‘

Josh nodded, his long and slender fingers fastening the cufflinks.

Martin asked again, “What about these documents…”

“They’re almost done. I’ll leave the rest to the two sides to decide.”

“Understood!”

Around eleven o’clock, Natalie lay in bed feeling drowsy. In a hazy state, she thought she heard the sound of a car engine downstairs.

But she didn’t wake up.

A while later, it seemed like the bedroom door was pushed open, and a slightly cool hand lightly pinched her check. When she didn’t react, the hand continued to pinch her nose.

She frowned and whimpered, moving away from the hand.

A pleasant, magnetic chuckle sounded near her ear.

Then, the cool hand touched her earlobe.

She thought, ‘Itchy.

It is so itchy.

‘And cold too.

The hand then moved to her neck, causing her to shiver from the cold.

Josh’s smile deepened.

At this point, the drowsy girl finally got annoyed and swatted at the hand…

Josh’s eyebrows twitched.

But he quickly grabbed her wrist, remembering his previous experience.

This time, the sleeping girl finally woke up.

She opened her watery eyes, rubbed them in confusion with her other hand, and looked at him with a mix of confusion and complaint. “You, you…”

Her eyes held a hint of coyness and complaint.

Josh’s heart softened, and he gently rubbed the wrist he had slightly reddened, apologizing softly, “Babe, I’m sorry for waking you up.”

He smiled and covered her with the blanket, speaking as if to soothe a child, “You go back to sleep, I’ll take a shower and come back to accompany you later.”

Natalie didn’t say anything, still not fully awake.

Josh got up and headed to the bathroom.

It was a while…

Chapter 119

Hearing the sound of running water from the bathroom, Natalie finally came to her senses.

She thought, Josh… is back?

After returning, he woke me up, asked me to go back to sleep, and then went to shower himself?‘

Natalie scratched her head, sat up, and then checked her phone for the time. Now she was having trouble falling asleep, so she decided to use her phone.

Half an hour later, the bathroom door opened.

Natalie happened to look up.

Josh walked towards the bed with only a towel wrapped around him, his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and muscular physique exuding strength. Water droplets trailed down from his hair to his chest, highlighting his abdominal muscles.

She swallowed and quickly averted her gaze, not daring to linger on him for a second longer.

Lyda

Josh raised an eyebrow, then got into bed, partially pinning her down with his body. He exuded a wild and unrestrained aura. “Did my return make you so happy that you can’t sleep?”

‘Not really.

Natalie pushed him away and felt his firm chest.

She recoiled as if shocked.

Josh smirked and held her hand, his voice husky. “Why won’t you speak?”

Natalie’s fingertips tingled.

It was firm and elastic, and the sensation was excellent.

Her heart raced.

Josh’s presence enveloped her completely.

Her cheeks flushed, and although she hadn’t been drinking, she felt dizzy as if intoxicated.

“I… I…”

“What?” Josh asked gently and patiently.

Nervous, Natalie couldn’t meet his eyes. After a while, she stuttered and found her voice. “I… I want to go to the class reunion tomorrow night.”

Without hesitation, Josh said, “Then I’ll accompany you, Nat.”

She thought, ‘That’s it?‘

Natalie blinked.

Josh pinched her rosy cheek. “What’s wrong? Don’t want me to go? Or do you think your husband isn’t up to par?”

“Of course not.”

“Then it’s settled.”

Josh lowered his head and kissed her lips. “But, darling, is there something you’ve forgotten?”

“W–What?”

Josh’s eyes held a hint of danger as his fingertips toyed with her hair at the nape of her neck. “Last night, I remember telling you to be more aware and not to wander around, right?”

Natalie stiffened.

‘Oh no…

It seems like I am going to be held accountable.

Seeing her tense, Josh couldn’t help but chuckle. “Don’t be nervous, I won’t do anything to you. How could I?

Natalie’s lips tightened, and she remained silent.

Josh chuckled softly again. “How about this? Nat, if you can retell the story I told you that night, I’ll consider yesterday evening as if it never happened

“Retell?

“But… the problem is, I really can’t remember.

Natalie regretted falling asleep so quickly that night.

Josh noticed her expression and let out a meaningful chuckle. “It’s okay if you forget; I’ll tell you again, babe.”

‘He… is so kind.‘

Natalie felt like Josh might not be so bad after all.

She had forgotten, but he was willing to tell her again.

“Okay.”

Natalie responded happily.

Ten minutes passed.

Intermittent sounds came from the quiet bedroom.

“The little rabbit met a kind–hearted big gray wolf…

The big gray wolf felt sorry for the young rabbit, so he gave her some money…

“But when the little rabbit grew up, she didn’t recognize him…”

Josh’s voice was husky. “What happened in the end? Hmm?”

“In the end…” Natalie’s lips trembled, and she choked out, “I… I don’t know.”

Josh chuckled softly and whispered in her ear, “In the end… the big gray wolf, seeing the grown–up, juicy, and cute little rabbit, just… ate her in one bite.

“Do you remember now, babe?”

“Huh?
