Forsaking the Years of Longing

Chapter Forsaking Billionaire 156

Chapter 37 Dawn crept in, painting the sky with pale hues of light.

After an intense night of passion, Callan held me tightly in his arms, his body slick with sweat, yet entirely unbothered. He lazily nuzzled against my neck, his contentment palpable. Just as I was on the verge of drifting off to sleep, he suddenly bit me lightly.

"We're married now, Caroline."

"Stop playing by those contract rules. Let's... date for real."

His only response was the sound of my steady breathing as I had already fallen asleep.

In my dream, I heard him sigh.

"Alright, take your time.. I still have a chance. You got this, Callan."

Even in my dream, I wanted to laugh.

Two years later.

The company thrived, and Callan and I had relocated to New York to expand our ventures. Every week, we visited the hospital, hoping my father would wake up.

Finally, the heavens rewarded our persistence. On the same day I found out I was pregnant, my father opened his eyes.

I burst into tears, overwhelmed with joy. Callan held me close to comfort me, which promptly led to my father demanding a broom the moment he regained full consciousness. "Who the hell let you touch my daughter? Let her go right now!"

Half an hour later, Callan and I stood side by side at the foot of my father's bed, heads lowered like scolded children.

My father tilted his head back at a dramatic angle, staring at the ceiling in thought. "So, what you're saying is. you got married to this guy while I was unconscious, and now you're pregnant?" I remained silent. Callan, eager to prove himself, raised his hand.

"Dad, I obtained all the necessary certifications before proceeding! And the user feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, sir."

My father's gaze shifted to me, and I nodded quickly.

"My problem isn't that you married my daughter, but that I didn't even get a sip of celebratory wine! How embarrassing for me." Despite his grumbling, it was clear my father had accepted Callan as his son-in-law without much fuss.

Callan, ever the opportunist,

immediately followed up, "We've already discussed it, sir! Caroline and I agreed to hold another

wedding here once you woke up. We wouldn't dare let you miss out."

Only then did my father nod in satisfaction.

Once he was settled back to sleep, Callan and I left the room, exhaling in unison.

But then I asked, out of the blue, "Do you remember our prenuptial agreement? We set the marriage duration at two years. You said the contract would expire after that."

Callan swallowed nervously before switching to his signature pitiful expression. "But you're pregnant now! How could you possibly leave us-your husband and our future daughter? Or son?" FindNovel

I stared at him, unimpressed.

"Fine," I said with a smirk. "But you better make this wedding perfect. If I can't fit into my dress, you're done for." "Yes, ma'am!"

"Also," he added hesitantly, "since the contract's canceled, can we. officially date now?"

My response was a flick to his forehead.

"For the past two years, haven't we already been dating? What contract wife picks you up from work every day?"

Callan froze, tears brimming in his eyes as he let out a pitiful whimper. "I knew it. I love you, honey... whimper."

"Stop whimpering! You're embarrassing yourself!"

"..Whimper."
