Forgotten Wife: Let the Traitors Kneel Down

Chapter 34

34 Getting to know each other better April stayed on the ground enjoying that moment of freedom she had.

The sky, the breeze, the birdsong, everything made her feel relaxed and in the end she fell asleep.

When she woke up she was in her room, she wondered how she had gotten there, outside the sun had already set and her room was plunged into shadows and it was because She could see the stars shining beautifully outside, she went out to the balcony, it was a wonderful night, the sky was clear and the stars seemed to shine with great intensity.

She leaned on the railing and stood admiring the night landscape.

As she did so, she thought she saw a bird flying past in the darkness.

She strained her eyes to try and see what kind of bird it was.

She had leaned so far forward that she had nearly fallen.

Alessandro had entered at that very moment and held her by the waist.

_ What do you think you're doing? That's dangerous.

_I'm sorry, I just saw something flying by and I wanted to know what it was.

_Don't do anything dangerous.

_Yeah.

_Why is the room dark? _I just woke up, I wanted to see the stars so I didn't turn on the lights.

_ Next time do it, you must not go around the room in the dark, you do not know what can hide in the dark.

_I won't do it again.

_I suppose you haven't had dinner yet.

_Not yet.

_I'll ask them to bring us something for dinner.

_ Your Majesty has not had dinner yet? _No, I'll have dinner with you tonight, now go in and don't do anything dangerous.

Alessandro left for a moment, when he returned he found Abril sitting on the edge of the bed, he asked her.

_ How do you feel? Does your wound hurt? _It doesn't hurt, I'm fine.

_I'm glad it is so, _ Can I go for a walk tomorrow too? _I already told you yes, but without overdoing it and without falling asleep on the floor.

_ Did your majesty bring me? _Yes, so just take a short walk and don't lie on the ground.

_Okay, I won't.

The maids arrived shortly after with dinner, while they arranged everything on a table in the corner of the room, she wondered why they had brought so much food, normally they only brought her a bowl of vegetable soup, some fruit and water for dinner, but that day dinner was copious, there were endless different dishes with meat, fish, chicken and turkey.

After finishing setting the table Alessandro ordered them to leave them alone, he walked to the table and said.

_Come, let's have dinner.

April approached, Alessandro pulled out his chair for her to sit down, that seemed strange to her, however, she didn't say anything.

She had always dined alone, having company that night made dinner pleasant, the king asked her trivial things like what dishes she liked or if she preferred sweet over salty, it was a casual conversation in which they only talked about nonsense, but it made her feel comfortable.

After finishing dinner, Alessandro called the maids to pick up everything and prepare the bath.

After preparing, one of the maids offered to help the king wash his back.

However, he refused and told her to leave, that he wanted to be alone with the princess.

When the maids left Alessandro began to take off his clothes and told the princess to help him wash his back.

Alessandro was already in the bathtub when April entered the bathroom, she approached and took a sponge, soaked the sponge with the water from the bathtub and began to scrub his back in silence, while she did so she could see the scars that were on his back, there were large and small, she touched them with her fingertips feeling the roughness of the scars, Alessandro feeling her soft fingers caressing his back said to her.

_ What are you doing? Are you trying to seduce me? _No, I was just looking at the scars, there are many.

_They are all from the war.

_It must have been painful.

_Yes, it was, back then I couldn't even ask the magicians to heal me, they were exhausted, both physically and mentally.

They couldn't even heal the smallest wounds.

April ran her hand over his back and said.

_Wars are terrifying.

_Yes they are.

_It was all my father's fault, right? Alessandro did not want to lie, he spoke with complete sincerity.

_That's right, your father was the one who started this war and I don't even know why, his kingdom is big and wide, I don't understand why the war.

_My father is a cruel man, but he never does anything without reason, at least that's the impression he gave me.

_ What was your father like with you? _He was never a kind father, at least not to me, but he was with my sister Shyla, she has a great amount of magic, she is the crown princess, when she was young she was always compared to her, she is intelligent and strong, my father made her his successor when he found out that she did not have magic.

_ Wait, you were the successor before your sister? _Yes, but it was never official, the first son is supposed to inherit the throne, but I was very sickly and I was never treated as such, when they found out I had no magic my father repudiated me, he sent me to a ruined castle to die.

_The soldiers who brought you said that your father loved you, that you were his beloved daughter.

_I have never been, the day he sent me here he even told me that he wanted his majesty to kill me, although not with those exact words.

April continued washing Alessandro's back and went up to his shoulders, he grabbed her hand and said to her.

_I was very rude to you on our wedding day, I'm sorry.

_I am the daughter of your enemy, I am surprised that your majesty left me alive, you have nothing to apologize for.

_I didn't know anything about this.

_His majesty had no way of knowing, so don't worry about it.
