Forgive us

Macey slept through the night, she even slept through the checks the nurses carried out every four hours. The nurses assured Asher and Johan that sleep was the best thing for her as it was her body's way of healing. Jeff had called to check in on Macey and assured Johan they both would have their jobs to come back to. He was glad she had woken up and promised to come in over the weekend to check on her himself.

Cherry had come in to check on Macey herself and let her know she had spoken to the uni on her behalf. She spent half an hour chatting with Johan and Asher as Macey slept. Asher had also gone back to the hotel to grab clean clothes and extend his stay before returning with food for him and Johan. Cherry took Johan to get his car from work and he headed to his place to pack a bag of clothes. He didn't want to be leaving Macey alone in the hospital. Yes, Asher was there but she didn't really have a relationship with him as such.

It was 7 am on Saturday when Macey woke up. She wasn't in as much pain thanks to the top of pain medication but she was uncomfortable. Both Asher and Johan were sleeping in the chairs. Macey got the giggles seeing both of them looking uncomfortable in the chairs.

Johan stirred in his sleep hearing giggling. He quickly shot up searching the room for where the giggling was coming from. He spotted Macey in bed awake and smiled. "Morning Macey" Johan stated smiling at his girl. "Morning, you looked so uncomfortable in that chair. Why didn't you go home?" Macey asked. "I wasn't leaving you here by yourself" Johan replied.

Asher stretched his arms above his head, "you could have gone, I stayed with her anyway" Asher stated. "Asher go home to Sydney" Macey stated, she didn't understand why he was there. "There is no way in hell I'm leaving Macey. He could have killed you" Asher sobbed out. Asher knew Macey hated him but he wouldn't leave her. He just lost his brother and his other brother was in prison. Macey was all he had left.

Macey looked at Asher with wide eyes seeing him break down. "I'm sorry Asher. I am fine you don't need to stay. You and Tyler have your life in Sydney" Macey replied. "Mace, do you remember anything about waking up yesterday?" Johan asked getting concerned.

Macey thought about it and didn't remember anything. She knew she was in hospital and in pain but couldn't remember why. Macey shook her head no. "I'll get the doctor" Asher stated leaving the room.

"Johan, what's going on?" Macey asked. She was worried because both Johan and Asher looked odd when she didn't remember what happened yesterday. "It's fine Mace, let's just wait for the doctor yeh?" Johan stated reaching for Macey's hand and giving it a little squeeze. "Wait you were will a girl yesterday. Johan go home" Macey said trying to pull her hand away. She didn't want him here at all and sure as hell didn't want him holding her hand.

Asher walked back in with Doctor Rose "Macey you are awake. Do you remember me?" Doctor Rose asked. Macey shook her head no. "Right I am Doctor Rose, do you know why you are here?" The doctor asked. Again Macey shook her head no, she was scared now.

"Ok Macey, that's ok. You had a pretty bad knock to the head. Do you know what day it is?" The doctor asked. "Friday?" Macey questioned. "Macey, it's Saturday. You were brought in the early hours of Friday morning. You were assaulted at your work" Doctor Rose started. "Tyler" Macey stated, she was beginning to remember.

"What do you remember Macey?" The doctor asked. "Renee told me someone was waiting. He was there in the garden, I ran and he caught me. I rang you and you were with a girl she was moaning" Macey sobbed out. "Macey, Renee stole my phone, she was working with Tyler" Johan stated trying to calm Macey down.

"Macey, do you remember waking up yesterday?" The doctor asked. "No, when can I go? Tyler will come back" Macey rushed out. She was a sitting duck in the hospital. The doctor looked at Asher and then back at Macey. "Mace, Tyler won't be coming back. He was involved in a motor vehicle accident. He didn't survive" Asher stated.

Macey was shocked, "Asher I'm so sorry I didn't know" Macey sobbed out. She felt horrible now telling Asher to leave when he just lost his brother. Macey didn't consider them her brothers since she left at 16 and moved on with her life. "It's ok Macey, I'm not going anywhere. We are all we have left now" Asher replied.

"OK, we will be keeping you for a few days Macey to monitor your head injury and the punctured lung. If you need anything just buzz the nurses ok?" The doctor stated. "Umm, when can I shower?" Macey asked. "The nurses can help you later if you are feeling up to it" the doctor replied before leaving.

Macey didn't know what to say, she was just looking at her hands. They seemed to be the only part of her body not black and blue. "Mace, you believe me don't you?" Johan asked. Macey looked at Johan and saw he was struggling. "I swear Macey, Renee cornered me in the break room and snatched my phone. I would never hurt you or cheat on you Macey" Johan stated. Macey smiled "I believe you" she whispered. Johan smiled and nodded his head before kissing her hand.

"Macey, I'm sorry I didn't protect you again" Johan spoke up. "It's not your fault. It's not anyone's fault besides Tyler. I shouldn't have let my guard down. Let's just forget about it" Macey stated even though the pain in her body wouldn't allow her to forget about it. "Macey he nearly killed you. If we didn't find you in time, I would be burying my sister" Asher sobbed out. "But you both did and I owe you both. Thank you" Macey replied trying to get comfortable in the bed. She didn't want to remember the beating or the look in Tyler's eyes at all. She knew he would have killed her if he was given the chance.

A few hours later a nurse helped Macey to shower and wash her hair. She felt much better after the shower. She was in pain but at least she was clean. "Can I eat?" Macey asked the nurse. All she had been given was clear fluids so far. The nurse nodded "I'll see what I can find for you" the nurse replied exiting the room. "I can go get you something?" Johan offered but Macey didn't want to inconvenience anyone any more than she had. "No it's fine" Macey replied. "I'll go get some Chinese for us all" Asher stated before heading out of the room. It had been awkward as hell in the room, no one knew what to say or do. Macey just wanted it all to be a nightmare she woke up from and go back to a life where her brothers hadn't found her.
