Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Ella was sleeping soundly when she felt someone choking her. She was so tired that she thought she was having a nightmare and didn’t fight back.

Jaden was strangling her, watching her face turn red, wanting to kill her then and there. He had told her before that no matter what, once they got married, they had to stay faithful to each other. He never thought Ella would cheat on him and try to make him raise another man’s child.

Thinking about this, he tightened his grip, nearly breaking her neck. Ella let out a pained moan, and his heart skipped a beat. He instinctively let go. She rolled over and went back to sleep, completely unaware of the danger she had just faced.

Jaden glanced at the cereal on the nightstand, then went out to call Hank. “Get me some abortion pills.”

“When do you need them, sir?” Hank asked, a bit shocked. He didn’t expect Ella to get pregnant so soon after they got married.

“Now,” Jaden said coldly. “As soon as possible.”

“Got it,” Hank replied.

Soon, a servant appeared beside Jaden, respectfully handing over the medicine. “Sir, I’m Eric, Hank’s informant. It’s best to use this medicine under a doctor’s guidance. It could cause severe bleeding and, in serious cases, make her unable to get pregnant again,” Eric warned kindly.

“Leave,” Jaden said coldly. He crushed the pills and mixed them into the cereal. Then he went back to Ella’s room and forcefully woke her up.

Ella was furious and wanted to lash out, but when she saw it was Jaden, she quickly softened her attitude.

“What is it?” she asked, yawning.

“Eat breakfast,” he said, pushing the bowl into her hands.

Ella really wasn’t in the mood for breakfast and just wanted to sleep. But she thought that if she didn’t eat, Jaden might just wait around all day without eating, and she didn’t want that.

“Okay, okay, I’ll eat. Just don’t wait for me for lunch. Eat something yourself,” Ella said softly, touching Jaden’s face with a tender look in her eyes. She took a bite of the cereal, but suddenly Jaden slapped the bowl out of her hands. It crashed to the floor, shattering and staining the carpet.

“What are you doing?” Ella asked, frowning, already getting annoyed.

He looked down. “I knocked it over by accident. I’ll get you another bowl.”

He bent down to clean the mess, but as he was distracted, he cut his fingertip on a shard. Blood started dripping out.

Ella felt a pang of concern and quickly grabbed the first aid kit to help him. She wasn’t very sleepy anymore. She put a band–aid on his finger, a childish one with cartoon characters on it.

“Alright, leave it for the servants to clean up. Have you had breakfast? If not, let’s go downstairs and eat together,” Ella suggested.

Jaden stood up, looking at her with his beautiful eyes. She couldn’t read his expression. He seemed calm, but for some reason, she felt there was a fire burning in his eyes.

“Do you like kids?Jaden suddenly asked.

Ella frowned in confusion but answered honestly, “Yes, I do,”

“What would you do if you had a child?” Jaden asked.

“Of course, I’d have it and raise it. Why are you asking this all of a sudden?” Ella asked.

“Can I have a child?” Jaden asked,

Ella thought he must have seen something about kids and was just curious. “No, men can’t have children, only women can,” she answered seriously. “Why not? Where would the child be? Here?Jaden asked, gently touching her flat stomach with his big hand.

Thinking about her carrying someone else’s child, a shadow of darkness flickered in his eyes. He couldn’t believe that after everything he’d done for her, she would betray him.

“Okay, stop thinking about it. It’s complicated. You wouldn’t understand even if I explained, Let’s go eat, I’m hungry, and I need to sleep after we eat,” she said, pulling him towards the dining room. After they ate, she went back to her room to sleep, telling him not to disturb her.

Jaden stood at her door, unsure why he couldn’t go through with it. He’d seen the darkest sides of humanity and had a hard heart. But when he saw her about to eat without a clue, he remembered what the servant said about needing a doctor’s guidance for the medicine. He was scared she might have a bad reaction

He thought, ‘Maybe she never meant to betray me. She only just found out about the baby. If she knew, maybe she wouldn’t have married me. Maybe she would have gotten rid of it, maybe not. It’s her choice, not mine. I won’t be with her forever anyway. When I don’t need to pretend anymore, I’ll leave without hesitation. Then she can marry whoever she wants and raise her kid however she wants.

He kept trying to convince himself, but his heart felt heavy.

In the following days, Ella noticed that Jaden was ignoring her. She tried several times to spend time with him, but he wouldn’t even look at her. She even got Harry’s private chef to make delicious desserts, but he wasn’t interested.

She wondered if he was just in a bad mood.

“Did I do something to upset you?” she asked.

He didn’t respond, pretending not to understand.

“You seem to be in a bad mood lately,” Ella said.

“I’m fine,” he replied.

Ella raised an eyebrow, finding that hard to believe.

“Is it because I’ve been busy and spending a lot of time with Jenny? Do you feel neglected?” She thought this might be the reason since she couldn’t think of anything else.

She turned his body to face her, holding his face in her hands. He tried to pull away, but she somehow found the strength to hold him.

“To me, you’re as important as Jenny. If I’ve ignored you, I’m sorry. She’s found a place and will move out soon. I’ll take a couple of days off and spend time with you, okay?” she said sincerely. “Don’t be upset, it doesn’t suit you. You look so handsome when you smile.”

She pinched his cheek, then sneezed.

“I think I’m catching a cold,” she muttered. “I’ll go take some medicine.”

Jaden’s ears perked up. ‘She’s going to take medicine while pregnant?‘ thought he.
