Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 1179

In the lab, Eula squinted, his curiosity piqued after hearing Abbey's revelation. "So, you're telling me Aiden brought back Flora?"

"Yes, it's her!" Abbey replied, trying to muster some courage while staring straight at Eula. "Flora's a genius known worldwide. If you manage to capture her and use her for your experiments, it would be a game-changer!" Eula pondered for a moment, then took off his latex gloves with a chilling resolve. "Bring her to me."

If Aiden had brought back an ordinary woman, Eula might have let it slide. But Flora was no ordinary woman; she was a legend, and he was eager to see if her genius brain was truly unique.

Abbey's tension eased, replaced by a thrill at the thought. Flora was done for this time! She could almost picture Flora, restrained on a cold operating table, about to be dissected...

In the room, Flora lay on the bed with her eyes closed, trying to relax. Suddenly, the door creaked open, and she glanced up to see a man who looked like a bodyguard entering with a tray of food. "Ms. Flora, dinner is served."

"Just leave it," Flora said. She'd lost her appetite after all that chaos, even though she'd been a bit hungry earlier.

"It won't be as good cold, Ms. Flora. Better eat while it's hot," the bodyguard suggested, lingering instead of leaving immediately. Flora found his persistence annoying. "Get out."

The bodyguard stood there for a moment, then, instead of leaving, he walked towards her with long, confident strides.

"Got a death wish?" Flora snapped, her mood already sour, and his audacity only added to her irritation. She glared at him, meeting his deep, oceanic eyes.

Her body gave an almost imperceptible shiver, a strange emotion flickering in her eyes.

"Ms. Flora, spare me," the man said, stopping in front of her and bending slightly to meet her gaze. His lips curled into a smile, his voice soft like a lover's whisper. "I'm just a lonely guy, unmarried, not looking to die."

Her heart pounded, and tears threatened to spill from her eyes. The man's face was unfamiliar, but his tender and indulgent expression was reminiscent of the past.

In a hoarse voice, she asked, "Then why are you here?"

Didn't he know it was dangerous here?

The man chuckled softly, his light brown eyes brimming with warmth. "Because love follows you wherever you go. Where you are, I am too, no matter the place, no matter the time, come hell or high water."

As his words hung in the air, Flora impulsively grabbed his arm, pulling him onto the bed. She quickly pinned him beneath her and pressed a fervent kiss to his lips.

Her kiss was urgent and unrefined, but the man savored her softness, sighing with contentment. He met her kiss with a deep longing.

After a breathless minute, Flora released him, resting her hand on his chest.

"Connor," she murmured, her voice thick with emotion. "I've missed you so much."

"So have I."

Since Flora's disappearance, Connor hadn't had a moment of peace. If anything happened to her, he couldn't go on.

He held her close, retrieving two chocolates from his pocket and handing them to her. "If you're not eating, at least have these. I'll get you out of here now. The guards outside are disguised as Moss and Beck agents." The island was riddled with traps, but he'd mapped a way out over the last couple of days. Every moment they lingered only heightened the danger.

"We'll leave now. Later, I'll come back and tear this place apart."

"I" Flora began, but was interrupted by a sudden commotion from outside.

"Kick the door down!" A harsh female voice commanded.

The door burst open, and Abbey stormed in with a group of bodyguards.

Flora sat calmly on the bed while Connor stood beside her, clad in a bodyguard disguise. Abbey, mistaking him for one of Flora's protectors, paid him no mind

Her attention was fixed on Flora's impending downfall, her lips curling into a twisted smile beneath her mask. "Seize this woman!" The bodyguards moved to grab Flora.

Connor's gaze darkened, his hand resting on the gun at his waist. But Flora subtly touched his hand, then faced Abbey. "On what grounds are you arresting me?"

She remained composed and unruffled.

Abbey detested Flora's calm demeanor. "Flora, even at the brink of death, you're so arrogant! Euta ordered your capture, and not even Aiden can save you now!"

"You ruined my life, turned me into a shell of my former self. Did you ever think you'd see this day, Flora?"

Her voice was laced with madness. "You're going to be skinned alive!"

The hatred in her eyes was palpable, as if she wished to strip Flora to the bone. Flora narrowed her eyes; she didn't even recognize this woman. Yet, the woman bore such intense animosity towards her.

A shadow of recognition flitted through Flora's mind, her gaze sharpening. "You're Abbey, aren't you?"

It was more of a statement than a question.

"Surprised you remember me!" Abbey laughed maniacally, ordering the bodyguards, "What are you waiting for? Take her!"

The bodyguards stepped forward-

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The sound of gunfire echoed through the room. The bodyguards stopped in their tracks as blood poured from their knees, leaving gaping wounds. Connor stood protectively in front of Flora, his hand steady on his gun, his expression fierce.

His shooting was swift and precise.

In mere moments, the bodyguards were down.

"Ah!" Abbey shrieked, her voice piercing as she stared at Connor in shock.

"You dare shoot!" she screamed.

Connor's icy gaze swept over her, the cold barrel of his gun trained on her.
