Finding Them

As Daniel and his eldest son landed they rushed through to screening wanting to dump their bags at the hotel and head straight to the hospital to meet the twins. They had barely slept on the flight both consumed with thoughts of the twins and what they had been through. It took just over an hour to get through TSA and into a cab, Daniel would hire a car from the hotel if he needed one, but he planned on spending most of his time at the hospital and only leaving to shower and change when his son was present with the twins. He never wanted them out of sight again after reading the state of the twins.

After dumping their bags and changing at the hotel, Daniel and Mitchell were off to the hospital both nervous about how the twins would react to them. "What if they are scared of us?" Mitchell asked his father. "We will have to show them that they are safe with us. They will have trust issues and it will take time but they will come around. Once we are home we will get them to see someone to help" Daniel replied firmly. He had to believe his children would be ok and he had to be strong for all his kids. They all relied on him and he didn't plan to let anyone down.

As they pulled up at the hospital there was a little gift shop at the entrance which Daniel and Mitchell stopped at. Mitchell wanted to buy a little gift for each of his new siblings and also grab some food for them all. Hospital food sucked so he was hoping to buy some fruit and maybe something edible for them all. Daniel wanted to grab coffee for himself, he needed to stay awake and learn everything about his youngest children. Mitchell picked out a Dumbo teddy and a Woody teddy for the twins, he also grabbed drinks for everyone, fruit, chips and a few sandwiches which should last them the day. He would go down the road to iHop and grab takeaway for them all for dinner later.

Daniel and Mitchell made their way to the room the twins were staying in. Detective Brown was going to meet them at the foyer in a few minutes so he could introduce Daniel to his children and then the paperwork would be signed so Daniel took custody of his children. Then when they were released from the hospital and cleared to fly he could take them home to Australia to meet the rest of his family. As they got to the foyer they heard some nurses talking about having to deal with the devil twins and he was annoyed, no one should talk about children like that. He decided to follow the nurses. He had a feeling they were talking about his children.

As he got to the room where the "devil children" the nurses were talking about were, he heard screaming and saw two nurses holding down his little boy. Daniel was furious and rushed into the room "Let him go now" Daniel yelled scaring Darcy who was crying. The nurses looked at Daniel who looked ready to kill. "We have to hold him down to check his sister. He loses it and won't let us do our job" one of the nurses tried to explain. "I said let go of my son now" he bellowed causing the nurses to let him go immediately. Dakota kicked one of the nurses in the shins and ran over to Darcy trying to climb onto the bed where she was crying. Mitchell came running into the room with Detective Brown following him, they had been introducing themselves when they heard Daniel screaming. "Dad, what's happened?" Mitchell asked scanning the room and seeing three nurses all staring at Daniel looking scared.

Detective Brown saw Dakota trying to get to his sister and went to assist him. Dakota scooped his sister into his arms once he was on the bed and glared at the nurses just like Daniel was. "How dare you hold them both down. I want the head of the hospital here now to explain how the nurses here think it's acceptable to hold down two children who have displayed signs of abuse to treat them" Daniel fumed out. Detective Brown swung around glaring at the nurses furious that they would do that to children who were clearly traumatised. "We will ask you to leave" one of the nurses smugly stated. "I am Detective Brown and I am happy to take a statement against all of you for child abuse. Get another nurse who can do their job or a doctor now" Detective Brown stated causing the younger nurse to nod her head at him.

Dakota was holding his sister, protecting her with his body in case anyone tried to take her or hurt her again. Darcy was calming down as the nurses left the room and her brother was holding her. She was listening to his heartbeat which always made her calm. "Hey there, I want to introduce you to these people who came to help you" Detective Brown stated. The twins knew him, he helped them and gave them food. They didn't trust him but he was the person who could at least touch Dakota without getting bitten or kicked. Dakota nodded at him and Darcy peeked out to see who he meant. "Big Kota" Darcy whispered well attempting to whisper when she looked at Mitchell. Daniel and Mitchell smiled at hearing her voice not knowing what she meant. "This is your daddy and your brother Mitchell" Detective Brown stated.

Dakota glared at Daniel and Mitchell when they stepped closer to the bed. Dakota was still shielding his sister with his body. "Kota, look. Big Kota and small Kota" Darcy quietly said while pointing at Mitchell and then at Dakota. Daniel and Mitchell laughed, "Yeah Dakota looks like Mitchell, you want to know why? Mitchell is my son and he is your brother" Daniel spoke softly to the twins stepping closer to the bed. Darcy shook her head no. “Big Kota, little Kota" she repeated. Mitchell stepped closer to the bed. "My name it's Mitchell, you can call me Mitch," he told his baby siblings, he just wanted to pick them both up and hold them so he reached his arms out earning a slap from Dakota "No" Dakota stated stopping Mitchell in his tracks.
