Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan)

Chapter 195

Chapter 195

Winnie would surely do her best to find the earrings, help Baldrick win Schilder's trust and affection, and she also wanted to help out Jonathan.

She didn't find out that Baldrick was injured until the afternoon - he had a head injury, and it was said that he'd been hit after tumbling down the stairs. Thinking back to Jonathan visiting Baldrick in the morning and coming back with wine stains on his shirt, she felt there must be more to the story! Had Jonathan and Baldrick had a falling out?

If so, she wanted to help Jonathan secure a partnership with Schilder even more.

In the evening, Jonathan called her to say he was going to the downtown for a bit and would be back later, telling her to eat dinner on her own.

Estelle sent a text that she'd be having dinner alone, then went upstairs to take a bath and sit on the balcony to read.

She kept thinking about the earrings, her mind wasn't on the book. After a short while, Henson Lamont and Hans Macclain invited her to join them in playing a game, so she did.

During the game, Henson mentioned going to a football match the next day and asked Estelle if she wanted to join.

Estelle casually replied, "I'm in C City, so I can't make it."

Henson was surprised, "C City? My Uncle Jonathan is in C City too"

Estelle felt a bit guilty but then calmly said, "Really? I'm here to visit my grandpa."

Henson responded with a simple "Oh," before being completely absorbed in the game not asking any further questions.

Estelle couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

At 10 PM, Estelle told the two to go to bed and quit the game herself.

Hans sent a message, "Hey, sis, have you visited your adoptive grandpa yet? Our teacher organized a charity event for the elderly a few days ago, and I used my pocket money to buy clothes and supplements the mountain area seniors. We still have a lot left. If you send me the address, I'll forward them to your grandpa' Estelle had just returned to the Macclain family when Hans heard from his parents that she had Estelle knew Hans meant well, so she smiled and replied, "No need, I'll buy stuff for my grandpa. Thanks anyway, Hans!"

Hans replied, "Alright, goodnight"

"Goodnight"

Estelle put down her phone, her face soft with a smile. She took a deep breath of the cool night air and turned to go back to sleep.

In the dimly lit yard, countless fireflies flickered in the midst of the grass. This was the first time Estelle had slept alone since coming to the manor. Perhaps her mind was preoccupied, but she didn't sleep well After some time, Estelle found herself enveloped by a familiar presence, pressed against her comforting embrace. She instinctively leaned in.

Still half asleep, Estelle smelled the fresh scent of the man's clean body and murmured, "What time is it?"

"It's almost four o'clock," whispered Jonathan.

Estelle's long lashes trembled as she looked up at Jonathan in astonishment. 'Dawn is almost here, why didn't you stay in the downtown?"

It was at least an hour's drive from the downtown to the manor.

Jonathan closed his eyes and held her tighter. After a while, he slowly said, 'I wanted to come back."

Estelle's eyes lingered on the sleek contour of the man's jaw in the darkness as her heart fluttered like a sudden summer breeze.

Jonathan seemed tired, and he quickly fell asleep holding her tight.

Estelle closed her eyes too, pretending nothing had happened, trying to keep her heart calm. But her long lashes quivered, and her heart couldn't return to its tranquil

state

She only fell asleep again just before daybreak. When she awoke, it was already morning, and Jonathan was no longer in bed. Estelle, still drowsy, walked out onto the balcony and saw Millard's car parked do

She went to the wardrobe to change and, as she opened the drawer, something clicked in her mind. She raised her head and took a deep breath.

She finally remembered where she had seen those earrings!

As she went downstairs, she saw Jonathan sitting on the living room couch, while Millard was reporting to him "Baldrick left this morning with an injury, he's been acting very secretive, like he's searching for something!"

Estelle stood on the staircase, looked at them, and slowly said, "I know what he's looking for, and I know where what he's searching for is."
