Chapter Forty-Six
Cleo's POV
Once dressed the nurse helped me into a wheelchair and wheeled me through the hospital. My eyes kept darting to the faces of various nurses as they eyed us suspiciously. I was no fool and knew that if the nurse had been caught she'd likely be in big trouble for helping me leave without being discharged. Thankfully we made it to the transport bay without incident.
The nurse flagged down a taxi and helped me inside. After thanking her for all her help I told the taxi driver where to take me. The whole journey was uncomfortable to say the least. Between glances from the driver and the pain I was in I just couldn't sit still. I silently cursed myself for not accepting the pain relief earlier on.
'You don't need that when you have me.' Hearing Freya's voice startled me. I knew she would be waking up but I hadn't expected her to just yet. 'He sure did a number on us, give me a couple of hours and you'll be good as new.' Closing my eyes, I nodded.
'Cleo please tell me you haven't.' Just when I thought the last of the drive would be silent, I couldn't have been more wrong. Roman's voice was deeper than usual as it entered my mind indicating he had been alerted to my absence in the hospital.
'I haven't what?' A headache was forming having not been able to mind link for a while.
'Cleo! Please tell me you haven't left that fucking hospital. I don't need you getting yourself more banged up then you already are.'
'Ok I won't tell you.' I could just picture him shaking his head as his heavy breathing echoed in my ears.
'Where are you now?' Letting him see through my eyes I heard him growl when he saw the pack house come into view. Without saying anything else he ended the mind link.
As the taxi pulled up, I went to pay with the money the nurse had given me until the drop or was ripped open.
"Sorry mate can you please drive us back to the hospital."
"What... no Roman I'm not going back. I need to find our pup. If you force me back there I will leave again but this time I won't come back here first. I'll look for her by myself." Crossing my arms over my chest I kept my eyes firmly on his very handsome yet pissed off face.
When his jaw twitched, I knew I was about to win.
"No rash movements and no leaving the pack house!" "Roman..."
"I mean it Cleo. Those are my terms. Adhere to them or I will take you back to the hospital."
"Fine now move." Roman just raised an eyebrow hearing the tone I spoke to him in. "I need to pee, unless you're not going to let me?" Roman just shook his head before getting out of the doorway. "Thank you!"
Placing his arm around my waist Roman led me inside the pack house and to the bathroom before going into Kai's office. I'd half expected him to take me up to our room, but I guess he knew I would just come back down by myself the moment he left.
As we entered the room Roman helped me onto the sofa before kissing the top of my head. I don't know what I'd expected to see but this wasn't it. The room had clearly been the scene of a fight but there was nobody else here. "Did you confront Kaylee?" I watched as Roman rested his elbows on his knees before bending over and rubbing his face.
"Layla did and you were right."
"So, what happened where are they?"
"It's not as simple as you think Cleo. Layla attacked her but before we had a chance to restrain the demonic bitch she shimmered away."

"Yes. It's how some demons move around. Anyway, Kai lost his shit and defended her even after she left him to deal with the mess that she'd caused. If that wasn't bad enough Johnathan witnessed every fucking thing. He's stripped Kai of his title and made me temporary Alpha to the Moonlight Pack."
"Where's Kai now. That can't have been easy."
"Easy? Nothing about this is easy. We've had to place him in the dungeon and by order of the council he's to stay there until further notice."
"What does that mean?"
"That means the entirety of the council are going to come here and when they do, they will be taking charge of the entire situation. They already have it in for this family and have been looking for a way to remove us from leadership. Now with us having to track Hade's..." Standing up I watched as Roman picked up the desk and threw it against the wall.
Pushing myself up I wrapped my arms around him resting my head on his back. None of this was easy let alone fair. Roman hadn't long ago lost his mum and now we were on the verge of losing our pup. Just as Roman turned around to return the embrace the door flew open and Layla rushed inside.
"What the fu... Cleo? What are you doing out of the hospital." She smiled as if she already knew the answer. "I'm guessing that the desk being broken is because Roman told you what's happening."
"Yeh, I'm sorry for everything." And I meant it.
"Hey this is not on you. None of what has happened is your fault so don't you ever think that!"
"How is it not? My sister killed your mum, my 'father's' other daughter orchestrated it. They're my blood which makes it my fault. If I'd just left, if Roman had never marked me this wouldn't be happening." Roman turned around placing his hands on either side on my face.

"Layla's right love. This isn't your fault. Hades had been planning this long before you and I met. Even if by chance you'd recovered from the rogue venom and left it wouldn't change a thing. The only thing it would have changed is our daughter. She wouldn't exist and my heart would be empty." I hadn't even realised that tears were falling down my face until Roman used his thumbs to wipe them away.
"Look we can find her and when we do you will get your pup back. Just let us be the ones to kill Kaylee.
Roman's POV
As I opened my eyes to find Cleo still sleeping beside me I thought I was dreaming. It felt like forever ago since she had been in my bed. As I watched her peacefully sleep, I realised just how much I'd missed her. I'd missed the way she snored, the way her eyelashes fluttered while she dreamed, but most of all I'd missed her scent.
"Stop staring it's creepy." I chuckled as she opened one eye catching me red handed so to speak. "What time is it?"
"Still early, go back to sleep."
"Hm, I have a better idea."
"What's tha..." my words lodged in my throat as I felt Cleo's hand sneak into my boxer shorts and wrap around my morning glory. "Cleo we as much as I want to and believe me I want to. I think we should wait. Your body has been through a lot, and it needs time to heal properly."
"Roman I love you. And I need this. Everything in our lives have gone so wrong that I want, no I need to have some kind of normality to keep me from going insane. That and with my hormones all over the place I'm horny as hell and unless it settles down, I won't be able to focus on finding our up. Plus you can check for yourself, Freya has healed me completely."
Moving my face so it hovered just above hers I whispered, "Are you sure." To which she nodded.
Gently I placed my lips on hers my tongue moving on its own to seek hers. As the sparks of her touch tingles on my skin it becomes hard to keep thing's gentle. Sensing my frustration Cleo takes the opportunity to pump me harder until I remove her underwear and position myself between her legs. Moving my kisses down her neck I suck on her mark as I slowly slide into her. Bringing one leg around my waist so I could push deeper Cleo moaned. That sound was just one more thing I had missed.
When we were done and showered, I begrudgingly updated Cleo with the day's tasks. With the council arriving today there was lots to do. Because of their high profiles they were often targets for assassination. Not that I wouldn't love for them to be taken out, I couldn't afford for it to happen on my territory. Each one of them would need to be assigned a guard even though there's no doubts they bought their own. Having one of my men with them would have me feeling a bit more at ease.
