Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert)

Chapter 164

Eloise had just walked in.

She surveyed the chaos on the ground, Bridget and Sylvia's design drafts stained and spoiled. Her brow furrowed in disapproval.

Before anyone could speak, Freya stepped forward, her voice laced with sorrow, pointing an accusing finger at Christine.

"Ms. Eloise, Christine spilled coffee all over Ms. Simpson and Sylvia's sketches!"

Eloise's expression darkened as she turned to face a visibly shaken Christine.

With cheeks flushed red, Christine stammered, "It was an accident, I swear. I do this every day without fail; everyone here can vouch for me."

Her colleagues, grateful for her everyday kindness, quickly came to her defense.

"Ms. Eloise, Christine really is the first to arrive and takes such care in preparing our morning brew. She's scrupulous, and never once made a mistake. This must've been a fluke." "Christine's always so proactive and never complains. There's no way she had any ill intentions."

One after another, her colleagues stood by her, leaving Freya, who had accused Christine, feeling awkward and out of place.

One colleague, unable to hold back, added, "And why are some people not at their desks, coming to the office instead?"

Caught off guard, Freya adopted a look of injured innocence, "I...I was just checking on Sylvia since we're friends. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cause trouble. It's my fault, you're right." The colleague was momentarily speechless, as if they had committed some unforgivable act against Freya.

Eloise, watching the office devolve into a noisy mess, furrowed her brows deeper, "Enough! Is this a marketplace? What's all this about?"

Silence fell immediately.

Turning to Bridget and Sylvia, Eloise massaged her temples, "Can either of you salvage your work?"

Bridget glanced at Eloise's assistant, Bella, who nodded subtly. With a light chuckle, she assured, "Don't worry, Ms. Eloise. I've got it covered." Eloise hummed in response, and then turned to Sylvia.

"And you?"

"I'll...I'll do my best," Sylvia managed, her voice weak and her complexion pale.

Eloise, still not quite reassured and looking for backup plans, turned to Christine, "Christine, didn't you also work on Bailey's design? Get ready as well. It's always good to have options." en FindNovel

"Understood. I'm sorry, everyone," Christine apologized, head bowed.

"Let's get to work. Bailey will be in the studio in an hour."

"Got it."

As the team dispersed to get busy, Bridget remained. She walked down the empty corridor where Bella was already waiting.

Handing over a USB, Bella smiled faintly, "Ms. Simpson, always the smart one, thinking ahead. Your digital drafts are here."

Bridget raised an eyebrow, taking the USB and asked in a hushed tone, "Is this designer you've found reliable? I don't want any trouble."

"Ms. Simpson, rest assured. She's a talented unknown in the industry. I've taken care of everything with money. Helping you is her good fortune," Bella whispered conspiratorially. "Bella, thank you for this, really. Your brother's job is sorted, and I've also prepared a bonus for you."

"Thank you, Ms. Simpson."

After exchanging thanks, Bella left with a smile.

Bridget toyed with the USB, stepping forward to peer through the glass at Sylvia, who was frantically trying to salvage her work.

Fool.

Ever since that embarrassing

incident at Camellia Manor, how

could she focus on designing?

Knowing Bella, who was working for Eloise, had contacts throughout the industry, Bridget knew money could solve this problem easily. Why bother putting in extra effort like

Sylvia?

In this world, as long as you had power and influence, even if your designs were garbage, they'd still be hailed as masterpieces.

Bridget strode elegantly, almost reaching the door when she saw Freya hurrying past.

"Stop right there!"

Freya halted, looking at Bridget with timidity. Seeing her so meek, Bridget pouted her lips.

"What's the rush? What happened with the coffee earlier?"

"Sorry, Ms. Simpson. I had

calculated the angle perfectly when I

tripped Christine. Who knew she'd

stumble in her heels and end up spilling coffee all over your and Sylvia's sketches," Freya explained cautiously.
