Chapter 5
I landed on the ground with a thud. I sat up and looked around. I was in another metal room, like the one in the bank, except this room was enclosed with thick, steel bars. Across from me, I could see two more caged rooms, and there was one more next to me. There were big iron doors on one side of the room. Once again, I couldn’t use my powers. I pressed the button on my watch to call Carina.
“Jade where are you?” she hissed. I could hear destruction going on in the background. “We need you. Get your butt over here and help us.”
“Carina, Touchless cornered me into a room where I couldn’t use my powers because there wasn’t anything to connect to. Black Hole opened a portal and now I’m trapped somewhere.” I looked around the room. “I’m not sure where I am.”
There were more sounds of chaos coming in through the watch. I heard Carina shout as she attacked.
“Jade I’d love to help, but we’re a little busy right now. It’s three against four. We’ll try to figure something out.” She sounded frustrated. “Try to contact Willow.”
The watch was silent.
I pressed the button with the tree, and Willow picked up. “I was captured by Toxic Shadow and I’m trapped somewhere I can’t use my powers,” I quickly said without waiting for her to talk.
“Where are the others?” Willow asked.
“They’re still fighting. I just got done talking to Carina and it sounded like they were struggling without me. What do I do?” I pictured my friends being sent here, one by one, through one of Black Hole’s dark voids.
“Your watch has a location device built into it. I’ll try to find where you are and tell the others. You’ll be out soon. How were you taken?”
I explained to her what had happened with Touchless in the bank, then the portal. She listened, and I pictured her nodding her head as she processed the information.
“That’s one thing I forgot to warn you about,” Willow said. “Your biggest weakness is being trapped somewhere you can’t connect to the elements. Remember that next time. Try to keep your battles anywhere but a secure room with thick walls, floors, and ceilings.”
“Thanks for telling me this now,” I replied dryly.
She hung up, and the orange stone on my watch began glowing. I pressed on it to hear Leo’s worried voice.
“Jade. Are you alright? Are you hurt?”
“I’m fine. How are you guys doing? Did you defeat Toxic Shadow?” I asked nervously.
“We won this battle, but barely. They retreated, but swore to return. Willow’s talking to Michael right now.” He paused and I could hear Michael’s faint voice telling something to Leo.
“We know your location now and are coming to save you,” Leo said, sounding determined.
I really hoped he was right.
