Chapter 261 Something Is Wrong
"Influence them? You are thinking too highly of us. If we have the ability to do that, there will be no fight or war in the world." The officer shook his head and answered.
"Then why did their attitude change suddenly? Please tell me." Andrew asked with a smile.
"Don't ask me. Please ask Mr. Lee. Is he from your family? He is really a powerful man, letting the Stone family send them to apologize to you."
"I was confused when I heard the news. The Stone family has never been frightened by someone. Then guess what one of my friends overheard?" The officer deliberately mystified his speech at a crucial point Andrew tried to flatter him and asked, "I don't know. I'm relying on you."
"Their industries are directly closed down and the share price declines sharply to almost nothing. I guarantee that people in the Stone family were freaked out this time. I guess all these things must be related to Mr. Lee."
Andrew's mind went blank and lost the ability to think further.
Darian and the others acted like Andrew. They all looked at Maximilian in a trance and found their mind couldn't run as normal.
Victoria grabbed Maximilian's hands and dragged it slightly. Then she whispered, "Come on, let's go. I want to go home."
"Everything is up to you. Let's go home."
Maximilian held Victoria's hands, bypassing Scott, who was begging, and left the meeting room. Scott showed a sad expression and didn't know whether he should end apologizing.
The officer was dumbfounded. He waved his hands, bringing Scott and the others away.
Andrew and the others looked at each other and sat on their seats despondently.
Their minds were filled with doubts, wondering if what that officer said was true. After all, what he told them were only gossips.
However, if what he said was not true, then how could Scott and the others be brought here and kowtowed to apologize for what they had done?
Their doubt was like mist hanging over their mind.
"What is going on? How could Maximilian make the Stone family apologize to us?" Andrew asked languidly.
Darian held his chin with both hands and shook his head with blank eyes, "What the hell is going on? That loser is impossible to do that. Was that because someone is causing the Stone family trouble and the officer mistook him for Maximilian?"
"It could happen, but of low possibility. The Stone family is powerful after all, and they can easily figure out who is plotting against them."
Andrew replied exhaustedly, picking out his heart-saving pills and took a few. It was better to prevent beforehand.
Franklin took out his phone to check the news about Stone family's listed company and said with astonishment "Their company's share price has dropped from 7 dollars per share to less than 0.3 dollar per share."
"Slash!" Andrew took a deep breath and felt terrible. What a great damage that would bring!
"That loser doesn't have this ability. It must be someone else who is framing the Stone family and Maximilian is just lucky!" Iris shouted.
Yes, Maximilian was merely lucky! No one could guarantee that. However, the whole thing was weird, and Andrew thought it was better to wait and see.
"Well, I think it's hard to guess what the truth is. I suggest we don't have to do anything but wait to see what will happen. Anyway, the whole thing is weird and we must take care."
After Andrew expressed his point, everyone started to think something else in their mind except Iris.
Laura found it was strange to see Maximilian and Victoria came home so early today.
"Why are you coming back so early? Is that because Maximilian has caused trouble in the company?"
"It's not because of him, mom. I'm not feeling well." Victoria tried to help Maximilian out of trouble.
Laura looked Victoria carefully and snorted, "I find your eyes are a bit swollen. Have you been bullied rather than feeling uncomfortable? Come here, Maximilian! How dare you make her cry?" "No, mom. A grain of sand was in my eyes. That's why I weep."
Laura was too angry to speak when seeing Victoria was treating Maximilian so nicely.
"Come here, Victoria." Laura patted the seat beside her.
Victoria slightly pushed Maximilian, hinting him to go back to his room in case of being scolded again.
Maximilian nodded and went away alone.
Victoria sat beside Laura. Her mother held her hand and said, "Do you remember my friend Amina? She used to come to visit us when you're a child." "Yes, what happened?"
"She told me L City is going to hold a jade auction and invited us to go. I think we haven't been outside to have fun for a long time, so I agreed to her invitation." Laura said these words to Victoria while keep observing her expression. Victoria nodded and said casually, "No problem, it's good for us to have fine together." "Yes, but I think it's humiliating to bring Maximilian with us. I will feel embarrassed if Amina meets him. Can we go without Maximilian?"
Victoria was dumbfounded, then she shook her head and answered, "No, you can't do that."
"Why not? You have agreed just now. Why do you care about Maximilian so much?" Laura shouted angrily.
"If he doesn't go, nor do I. He is a part of our family." Victoria insisted.
Laura held her forehead and didn't know how to reply.
"Do you want me to be humiliated? Maximilian can't do anything but to embarrass me! I wouldn't say in this way if he was practical." Laura answered angrily.
Hearing Laura's voice, Maximilian came out of the room and said, "It makes no difference if I go or not."
"No, I want you to come along. If you don't go, I will not go." Victoria said in a stubborn way.
After thinking for a long time, Laura said helplessly, "Just go back to your room, Maximilian. I have something to say to Victoria.”
Maximilian turned around and went back, Victoria looking towards Laura with confusion.
"Victoria, I have to tell you the truth. It is Humphrey who invited us to the auction. You know your father is fond of jade. That's way I promised him. Now it's hard for me to refuse him, so..."☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
