Chapter 17
My side was still warm from where Alex had let me lean on him and had held me. Every time he was even remotely close to me, my body erupted with a hum and giant bat-sized-butterflies would flap endlessly in my stomach.
The pain in my lower back was not blinding anymore, so I took that as a good sign, even though it still stung a little. Ally had been smirking the entire way to my dorm as she held me upright whilst she acted like a crutch to help me walk.
After Alex had fixed me up, I had felt extremely faint. My head felt as light as air and little black spots had danced in my eyes. The look of concern on his face was heartwarming, and I kept seeing his piercing brown eyes every time I closed my eyes.
“So, what was with you and lover boy back there?” Ally asked, her thick accent enunciated the words differently. I shook my head in defeat but despite myself, I smiled. Not in shame, nor embarrassment, but because for the first time I felt like this was something I should keep to myself.
It was so odd. Nothing happened between us, we had barely spoken to each other. Yet, he kept on popping up in my mind. His surprised face when he found out that I knew Latin [or at least chunks of it] was something that had been burned into my memory. I paused slightly when I remembered who he was.
An egotistical, condescending, jerk who had judged me and commanded mean helped me and saved me and.... Ugh this is not the mind rant that I had been trying to remind myself of his bad qualities. It was just one night of decency. Tomorrow we would go back to our ice cold hostility and haughty ways.
That would be my reality check. Alex griffin was scornful and arrogant. Not kind, sympathetic and dreamy. Come on Myra get yourself together woman, I psyched myself up.
Ally was looking at me with a strange look on her face, before I realized we had stopped in the hall for the past five minutes. I gave her a sheepish smile and she shook her head.
“Girl you got it bad,” she exclaimed. I knew exactly what she meant but feigned a mask of confusion. I blinked at her then Pushed a rogue strand of reddish-blond hair out of my face. I mentally groaned, as I realized that I would have to take a shower if I wanted my hair to not be a bird’s nest in the morning.
“I have no idea what you mean,” Ally opened her mouth to counter, but I then said. “Hey where are the showers, I couldn’t find them earlier?”
She blinked and then laughed. “Uh, in your room every room should have an En-suite in it.” she stated. I stared at her then remembered that strange door next to the room divider. I thought it was a cupboard. I nodded in understanding then slowly walked to the bathroom. The en-suite was gorgeous with a French bathtub with gold accents and a smaller shower tucked in the corner, but it was nice all the same. The porcelain sink was barren and big which I was grateful for, considering all the Hair products I had brought with me. There was a small shelf with baskets neatly lined up inside. After dumping all my stuff in them I looked at my watch. It was almost eleven and I had to be up by eight.
I hopped in the shower and after I had put on my clothes jumped into the cozy bed and drifted off into a heavy slumber.
