Night fell.
Finally, the two of them separated at the company gate.
Bowen Evert wanted to be his filial son and dated the woman arranged by his mother.
Moreover, Jolene Marsh was going on a blind date.
Each had tasks that had to be accomplished.
When she arrived at Lofan Company, she saw a man named Colin Barcy, introduced by Mrs Evert.
Jolene said in her heart that Mrs Evert was quite merciful.
Colin had a handsome face and regular facial features, which could even be described as good–looking.
Even if Mrs Evert introduced her to a monster, she had to bite the bullet.
After chatting for a while, Colin said that seeing her getting off work late, he had ordered a steak first in case she was hungry and asked if it suited her appetite.
If she did not like it, Jolene could order something else.
Jolene picked up the fork and ate it, “Do not bother. I am not a picky eater.”
After eating the steak, Jolene had a preliminary

understanding of him.

At the age of twenty–nine, Colin had opened a small import and export trade company with an annual income of less than one million. The employee’s wages were paid by
himself, and his salary was only a little more than that of a senior white–collar worker.
After Colin finished speaking, Jolene could not help but look at him more.
Because of work, Jolene Marsh had met all kinds of men.
Those with money and those without money liked to pretend to be aggressive, but Colin was like a clear stream.
Jolene could not help feeling somewhat fond of him.
Jolene was full, wiped her mouth with a tissue, and introduced herself calmly.
“Jolene Marsh, Earth Group’s special secretary to the president, with an annual salary of one million dollars, the company provided cars for her, and the benefits were equivalent to department managers. However, those were floating clouds, and they would disappear anytime and anywhere. I had not saved much money all those years because my stepdad gambled badly.”
After Jolene finished speaking, she looked at Colin quietly.
Jolene told the truth and did not hide.
Regardless of whether that blind date could be successful or
not.

Before coming to see Jolene, Colin had little understanding of Jolene’s situation.
Bowen Evert’s female secretary, he had heard of her name before.
Intelligent, beautiful, capable, and sensible.
When Mrs Evert described Jolene to him, she added a sentence, “Sensible.”
When Colin saw Jolene that day, he could not tell whether she was sensible.
However, Jolene did not look like an overbearing president’s secretary.
Clean makeup and decent and plain attire, she did not even have a single piece of decent jewelry on her body.
It was a bit beyond Colin’s expectations.
When he saw Jolene for the first time, he felt amazed and pleasantly surprised.
Colin said nothing, and Jolene ordered another dessert, a red velvet cake.
Jolene was really not a picky eater, and she could eat anything.
Other women usually ate very little at night, eating one bite like a bird.

She ate a piece of red velvet in three minutes, then received a call from her mother.
After apologizing to Colin, Jolene looked gloomy and went to the door to answer the phone.
Mom was crying again, Jolene’s heart tightened, and she immediately asked, “Was my stepfather back? Did he mess around with you again?”
“Your stepfather had borrowed usury and had no money to repay, so he had two fingers chopped off…”
The night wind was blowing, mixed with the smoky smell of the barbecue stalls in the distance, which made her stomach feel highly clogged.
“Mom, where were you?”
“Going to the hospital.”
“Wait for me, and I will pick you up.”
Jolene hurried back to the restaurant to get her bag, only to realize that her blind date was not over when she saw Colin.
She sincerely apologized to him, “I am sorry, Colin, I had some family issue and needed to go now.”
Colin took out his mobile phone to pay the bill and said with a smile, “Understood. If you had something to do, you could go first.”
These days, as long as the blind date was unsuccessful, a man who did not ask for AA bills was considered good.
Jolene walked to the door but turned back and said, “My car was out of gas. Could you be my driver tonight?”
Colin was stunned for a moment.
At first, he thought Jolene did not like him, so she left first with an excuse.
Colin scanned the QR code, paid the bill, and opened the door gentlemanly, “I was willing to help, please.”
