Divorce Clock Ticking (Kenneth and Angela)

Chapter 57

Angela looked at Kenneth coldly. "So, you had someone follow me. What did they find? Did they see me kissing someone else or entering a hotel room with someone?" Kenneth frowned and was about to speak, but Angela had already turned and left.

The two of them were giving each other the silent treatment, and even Tony and the maid noticed it.

The maid pulled Angela aside and whispered, "Ms. Lewis, did you have a fight with Mr. Sinclair?"

"No, why?"

"Mr. Sinclair seems to be in a bad mood lately."

Angela paused for a few seconds before replying, "It might be because of the stress from work. Don't worry about him. It will pass." "Alright."

After the maid left, Angela sat on the sofa, waiting for Kenneth to come back for dinner.

Around seven o'clock, Kevin called to say that Kenneth was attending a banquet and wouldn't be home for dinner.

After hanging up, Angela couldn't bother to heat the food, so she ate something light, watched some TV show for a while, and then went to bed.

At the banquet, Kenneth had Kevin hand him his phone every half hour.

Initially, Kevin thought Kenneth was expecting a call from an important client, but after checking his phone again around ten o'clock, Kenneth frowned at Kevin, "What did you tell Angela just now?" Startled, Kevin instinctively replied, "I just told Ms. Lewis you wouldn't be home for dinner."

"She didn't react?"

"Ms. Lewis just said okay."

Kenneth's expression then darkened. "She didn't ask when I'll be back?"

"No."

Kenneth didn't say anything more and turned to his drink again.

Usually, no one dared to encourage Kenneth to drink at these gatherings, but that night, he accepted every drink offered, drinking at least ten so far.

Kevin, aware that Kenneth's body was just recovering, worried that continuing to drink like this would do him no good. Kevin leaned in and quietly advised, "Mr. Sinclair, you can't drink anymore." Kenneth shot Kevin a cold glance, saying, "Call Angela and tell her to come and get me."

In a flash of realization, Kevin finally understood that Kenneth had been waiting for a call from Angela, not a client.

He quickly dialed Angela's number, but the call went unanswered. "Mr. Sinclair, she didn't answer."

"Keep calling!"

After several unanswered calls, Kenneth's expression grew increasingly grim.

Just as Kevin was about to call again, Kenneth said coldly, "Don't bother, take me back now!"

They arrived back at the villa past eleven o'clock.

After dropping Kenneth off, Kevin left. Kenneth, with an icy expression, wheeled himself to the bedroom.

Upon turning on the bedroom light and seeing Angela sleeping soundly on the floor, Kenneth couldn't help but feel irritated.

He thought angrily, 'We've been giving each other the silent treatment for the past few days, and it's been driving me crazy. While she, on the other hand, seems to be just fine, as if she couldn't care less about me!'

"Angela! Wake up!" Kenneth called out to her multiple times before finally waking her up.

Half-asleep, Angela saw a figure nearby and was immediately jolted awake.

Recognizing it was Kenneth, she couldn't help but frown and sit up to confront him. "What are you doing staring at me in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?"

"Why didn't you answer when I had Kevin call you?!" he asked angrily.

Angela picked up her phone and saw five or six missed calls.

Feeling a bit exasperated, she thought, 'He woke me up just for this?!'

"Please, how was I supposed to answer if I was asleep?" Angela retorted.

Kenneth demanded, "From now on, you're not allowed to sleep before I come back from dinner engagement!"

Angela rolled her eyes. "So if you don't come back all night, am I supposed to stay up waiting for you?"

"That won't happen."

"What do you mean?"

"I won't stay out all night."

Angela brushed off Kenneth's seemingly promised words and let out a yawn, saying, "Fine, I got it. Can I go back to sleep now?"

Seeing her about to lie down again, Kenneth, unable to contain his frustration, exclaimed, "Angela!"

"What now?!" Angela snapped, clearly irritated.

Seeing the impatience in her eyes, Kenneth gritted his teeth and said, "I drank tonight. Help me wash up."

Taking a deep breath to suppress her urge to throw him out, Angela got up and pushed him toward the bathroom.

After squeezing toothpaste for him, she yawned and said, "Here!"

After Kenneth brushed his teeth, Angela grabbed a towel and roughly wiped his face, scrubbing as if she wanted to peel off a layer of skin.

He frowned and asked coldly, "Can you be a bit gentler?"

"Sorry, I've always been this rough. I can't help it." She shrugged.

Kenneth was left speechless.

After washing up, Angela quickly put Kenneth in bed, covered him with a blanket, and turned off the light.

Once Angela got back onto the bed, Kenneth suddenly spoke. "Angela, I was wrong about last time. I shouldn't have doubted you."

He had initially wanted to investigate the man she had dinner with but ultimately held back, fearing it might lead to an even more intense argument if Angela found out. Angela remained silent for a while before murmuring, "Let's sleep."

The following morning, Angela woke up to find Kenneth had already left the bedroom.

After washing up and stepping out, she saw Kenneth sitting in the living room on a call.

He was wearing a grey sweater and black trousers, looking less indifferent than usual.

Angela glanced at him briefly before heading to the kitchen.

After preparing breakfast, Angela came out to find that Kenneth had finished his phone call.

"Henry wants to apologize over lunch. Do you want to go?" he asked.

Surprised, Angela wondered, 'After the unpleasant encounter at the Empyria Group, Henry wants to apologize?'

The thought of Debra made her frown involuntarily, "No, I don't want to see Debra."

After a brief silence, Kenneth said, "Henry and Debra have broken up."

Angela raised an eyebrow. "Oh, that has nothing to do with me. You don't need to tell me specifically."

A bit helpless, Kenneth looked at Angela and said, "I'm serious. And Henry also plans to apologize to Brenda. So technically, he wants to invite both of you to lunch."

"Did he get hit on the head or something?" She looked puzzled.

Kenneth was at a loss for words, asking, "So, you really don't want to go?"

Angela looked at him suspiciously. "Do you really want me to go?"

"If you don't want to, I won't force you."

"Then I don't want to go."

They then ate breakfast in silence. Angela cleared the dishes into the dishwasher and said indifferently to Kenneth, "I have plans today. I won't be back for lunch, so tell the maid not to prepare my meal." "What are you going to do?" he asked.

Angela frowned, "It's my personal matter. I don't need to report to you. But if you're really that curious, you can always have someone follow me. Then you'll know."

Kenneth's eyes turned colder, his hand clenching unconsciously. "Angela, I didn't have anyone follow you."

"Then tell me, how did you know I was having dinner with a man last time?" She challenged.
